Just throwing this out there but a jumping jack compactor is for soils and a plate compactor is for aggregates. Plate compactor will only compact the top layer of soils and is not adequate for soils. Projects will fail inspections if a inspector sees something like this on a job site. Not trying to be one of those online ass holes I just wanted to inform you incase you was unaware.

Can you only install EZ joint on open graded bases? If I install my patios on a compacted stone base with an 1/8 inch stone setting bed could I use this?
Hey Nick, with EasyJoint (or any permeable jointing compound) you have to make sure your base and sub-base is free draining... so when you're installing EasyJoint in joints over a dense grade base make sure the water has a way to get to daylight once it permeates through the joints. If you've ever installed traditional jointing sand (pre-polysand days) you'll know that installing in clay sub soils requires some scarification of that clay sub base to allow for proper drainage under your geotextile and gran A. It's a similar install when using EasyJoint, just make sure it's all free draining and not a water basin. There are tonnes of pointers and videos on our website and also Azpects USA site for full details. If you're not dealing with clay then ensure your grade pitch is to spec (i.e. 1" over 10feet) and your paver system will evacuate much of the water through run off and the water that passes through to your dense grade base will drain back into the water table the way nature intended!. www.greatnorthhardscape.com
