The Wainwright building is stunning, even haunting. Part "spiritual planetarium", part oriental temple, part solemn tomb; it seems a miniature reinterpretation of Boullee's fanciful, never-built, mammoth cenotaph plan for Isaac Newton's remains.

A fascinating and beautifully informed narrative of four generations of women's rights advocates. It shows that a value for human rights does not come out of thin air but from generations of struggle. I'm touched by the sheer determination of these women, by their evident influence on their families and culture, and by the importance of education to their stories. We take so much for granted today that they had to fight for. Thank you, Betsy, for this remarkable statement.

Serviceberry (genus Amelanchier) is a great tree! However, the idea that it got the common name "serviceberry" from springtime funeral "services" is a myth. The common name "serviceberry" or "sarvisberry" arose because the berries of Amelanchier trees resemble the fruits of (unrelated) trees in the genus Sorbus. Some trees in the genus Sorbus came to be called "service" or "sarvis" when the original Latin-based name migrated into English.

I have seen this mausoleum and it is just beautiful. The spike is a replica od the spike that was on Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. There are only 2 people buried in this mausoleum I believe. There are other family members buried behind the mausoleum.
