What’s wild is when you see what the mom cooks it literally looks vile and she has the audacity to criticize another persons cooking. The daughter’s food is obviously not bad but even if it was it couldn’t be any worse than the mom’s nasty food. This reminds me of when my grandma died during the lockdowns and because our family couldn’t go out to eat after her funeral my dads boyfriend (yes my dad is gay let’s move on) who is from Morocco was so nice and made us all a homemade meal. He used garlic and ginger as spices and that was it, honestly the food wasn’t at all spicy it just had a bit of flavor to it. But my god you’d think he tried to poison everyone. They all acted disgusted by his delicious food and said it was “too spicy”. Me and my two aunts and dad were the only ones who ate what he cooked. My uncle and his wife and son couldn’t stand it and ate frozen dinners… He was so upset and worried his food was bad but I told him that white people can’t cook and don’t know what flavor is and that he needs to not worry. But honestly even if his food was bad what my uncle and his family did was so incredibly rude. This man who isn’t even related to any of us bought the food to cook for us and spent the time to cook it during our time of mourning. They should’ve been grateful instead they acted disgusted that his food had a bit of garlic on it. There are a lot of white people that grew up eating the most foul food imaginable and they think it’s normal and that ACTUAL good correctly cooked food is bad. It makes me wonder why the Europeans wanted India’s spices so badly when so many of them act like garlic is spicy

She’s so envious of her daughter’s cooking skills. I hope one day her daughter says enough because this is a toxic mom who will never give her credit for anything she ever accomplishes. And this nasty woman thinks she’s funny when she gives her ridiculous critiques.

mom is just gaslighting to make up for her own shortfalls. my mother did this to me as well. and... i'm a professional chef.... always picked apart everything. i learned to cook from my chef dad. she didn't do any cooking and could only cook two things decent: potato salad and chili, but now that i think about her chili as a full grown adult that's been in the industry for 36 years, her chili sucks compared to mine. she used to tell her family that i couldn't cook. imagine a 12 year old child cooking beef stroganoff for the first time with dad's supervision, being told that i better go to medical school so i can afford a private chef.

the only way you can make potatoes "creamier" is to change the potato you buy. this mom is wild as hell to add, this is what we call a cook-from-a-can mom in my family. she probably grew up where her mom carried on her grandmother's tradition of cooking which was to use a lot of carbs and dairy except the difference is that her grandmother cooked with fresh dairy and fresh carbs and the like back when she was a mother. that idea was passed down through the family to use a lot of carbs and dairy and food and not really be good with me because you primarily put emphasis on the flavor and feeling of both the carbs and the cheese. this is some typical Midwestern mom bullshit. everything is processed now so we can't cook like we did 70-100 years ago. this woman is absolutely delusional is she thinks that cooking from a can is the only way you can cook.

I gotta say, my mother was the exact opposite of this woman. She was my biggest fan, she championed all of my endeavors. She complimented my hairstyles, my outfits, my artwork…I cannot remember any criticism that wasn’t constructive…and those were few and far between. This woman baffles me. I feel sorry for people with moms like that. It must mess with your self esteem.

It's so sad that her mother has so much jealousy over her own daughter. I'm so glad I have a mother who gets so excited to eat even a plain sandwich when I make it, let alone her excitement when I cook a full spread, all of my mothers Christmas dishes are now my responsibility to make, and I get embarrassed when she starts gushing over my cooking to everyone 😅

Mother is resentful , jealous and feels inadequate. She feels like her family can get along just fine without her , when she was the heroic family nurturing figure . She needs a close friend or her own mom to have a heart to heart talk . She's smiling but raging with jealousy.

this is my first time coming across your page! i am not a fan of podcasts but wow i enjoyed hear you talk. anywho i am in a similar situation with my mother who is a narcissist. as i got older i started cooking more for the family than she did. that brought up comments from my father and brother about “ur mother has competition” now i’ve noticed she tries to start dinner before i wake up and never asks for help anymore. Its an ego thing i believe.

Her mom will never be happy with what she prepares, she thinks her daughter is trying to out shine her therefore is jealous, sorry to say she is really angry inside when the dad is complementary to his daughter. She needs to get therapy to recognise why she feels disdain and jealousy for her child. Most mothers would be over joyed and proud of their child trying to get the praise that children want from their parents even if the food wasn't that good.

Yeah but did you see the video of Mayo Mom and her dinner choice? She made chicken with mayo and Parmesan cheese. She baked it all together. So of course those thick ass chicken breasts came out damn near raw. RAW!!! She’s jealous of her daughter. A blind therapist could see it. We all see it.
