@trout_spankn_dominoeacosta6914 so the tube I'm using is the Creek Company ODC-420. I've been floating on this tube for about 18 years and it's rated for close to 300 lbs. Unfortunately they don't make it anymore, they make a lighter version which has a much lower rating. I've looked at the outcast fishcat 5 max as a good replacement in the not to distant future. The Fishcat 5 max is rated for 300lbs. Hope that helps

Just about anytime is good. You can catch them year round. However it is best when you have moving water (incoming or out going tide). I like this site to check the tides, just click on the location you want. www.tide-forecast.com

@b420ful the thrusters are from a company called ApisQueen. I was going to do the same thing but while searching for the parts I came across the one I got which is already all put together. Just plug and play. This particular trip I launched at American Legion, 14th St if I remember correctly. Small beach area and dock, easy beach launch. However parking is pricey.

Yes an Original ODC420, this particular one I've had about 18 years and it's my backup tube. My original one I had been floating on it for about 20 years but it's sprung a leak so I had to retire. Hi Vince, I'll keep my pointers more safety oriented. 1. get a good pair of fins. don't break the bank but get a good pair of scuba fins. They'll make a huge difference specially if you get in current or it's windy. Also get leashes for them, you don't want to loose one, it could be dangerous. 2. when you get off the water, always let a little air out specially on a hot day. if not the air will heat up and expand, possibly popping your tube. 3. put leashes on all your tools like pliers, nets, scissors, etc. you can make your own out of rope and clips. attach them to the D rings on your tube. 4. put your wallet, cell, keys, etc. in a zip lock bag. 5. get a kitty litter plastic box with closable lid and use it for storage in the back compartment of your tube. Tidy cat makes a good one. just paint it black. 6. get a cheap pair of sandals to get to and from the water so you don't put a hole in your waders. Hope these help. main thing is have fun but be safe.
