Hello! Im just starting to learn Mridangam. I don't have teacher and I'm learning with help of UA-cam videos, etc... I enjoyed a lot this video and a give you many thanks!!! Hare Krishna Prabhu!!!! But I have a couple of questions: 1. The mantra should not start on the: dhei - ta - tetetete ta.... ? Instead of on the: Ke... 2. Why is this Prabhupad Mantra is different of others that I can find on UA-cam. For example the one explained on KKSongs ? 3. Are you playing with Bengal Technique isn't? And with Bemgal bowls?

The mridanga is used for glorifying Krishna, so anything spoken that eventually leads to glorifying Krishna can be considered as a mantra

I learned mostly on my own but I picked up a lot from Govinda Prabhu, a Hungarian devotee living in Vrndavan. As for the mantra, I mentioned in the first video of this series that I was basically making them up haha. But the correct mantra is dha ghe te te na ka dhee na. It sounds slightly different than this beat but it's essentially the same

Yes prabhu, all these drums were made India and are clay. The covers are really nice aren't they?! One mataji here in Chicago makes them custom for devotees here. Your drum would have to be measured in order to make a properly fitting cover. You can private message me if you're interested.

November 9th, 2009. That's my recorder on the mic and it's a very nice kirtan! I remember playing mrdanga for this kirtan clear as day.
