After a controversial disqualification at the ACC Championships, Owen Lloyd still got his opportunity to compete at the NCAA Championships.
He swam in the fastest heat of the 1650y Freestyle, placing 5th in the nation which earned him All-American Honors.

    - Rule 2, Section 5, Article 1a: "Any competitor who interferes with another swimmer DURING a race shall be disqualified from that race, subject to the discretion of the referee..." - Rule 2, Section 5, Article 1b: "A swimmer who changes lanes DURING a heat shall be disqualified." The rule set states DURING. Unless there's a ruling that states youre in the race still after you finish. For example, you cant get out of the pool at all until all lanes are done. BOTH lanes were finished. there is no way there is interference to any of the lanes he was in. he should get a lawyer to have this overturned. Thats life and career changing bull **** right there.

    Those judges should be fired for this. With that much adrenaline in his system it would be really hard not to get excited and celebrate. Those judges are pure evil. It’s sad to watch because you can just see his heart breaking in that moment. Not to mention it’s probably extremely humiliating.
