Compliments! Yours is an extraordinary work!!! Yes, Nick Tate and Barbara Bain!!! Please... Obviously you know that there are other actors from the original cast who can be interviewed and they can enrich your documentary: Prentis Hancock Jonh Hug Clifton Jones Alibe Parson Anton Phillips Catherine Schell At least once, everyone has "piloted" a Space:1999 eagle. It's really a shame that Martin Landau is no longer with us and he can't see your amazing work. Maybe an interview with Juliet or Susan Landau? Thank you!

Well it’s a great endorsement, I am curious to know what this series meant for the Star Trek leading character, or their fans, usually two worlds apart. ST was in the far far future, too far away for any expectations beyond the ethical aspects, while 2001 and Space 1999 have been the most realistic source of inspiration for the last generations to see mankind in space.

@@futuredudeentertainment6965 Hi, may I suggest to add essential info on nuclear propulsion, which was the main propulsion system in all realistic sci-fi, for flying and for building a true base on the Moon, like 2001 or S1999, not just inflatable balloons, impossible with conventional rockets which reached their own limit of specific impulse. I recommend watching, and quoting, the documentary Project NERVA, by national archives, and other related documentaries, and how the technology was successfully tested until it was closed by Nixon in 1973 for unknown reasons. Nobody seriously thinks that future of manned space exploration can be achieved without nuclear rockets of some kind.

If they want to bring heavy mechanical devices or big equipment to the moon then they will need something laid out like the Eagle; much like the Sikorsky Skycrane concept. Now you wouldn't need a aerodynamic looking forward cab like the Eagle .... but damn that would be neat!!! You could precisely place various cargo containers, or drop off a large rover, or a moon version of an excavator etc. Relying on elevators to drop off heavy equipment from a height is just not going to work.

This took me straight back to being a kid. I loved Space: 1999, and was obsessed with space travel, astronomy and science fiction. I had a die cast Eagle (Cargo version with little nuclear waste barrels), a model Eagle Transporter that I built, a die cast Apollo mission era recovery helicopter and capsule (with working winch) and a whole bunch of Airfix astronaut figures. What did I wear when I played with all this stuff? What else, but my silver space suit and astronaut helmet of course! Space: 1999 is one series I think could really use a reboot and with today's effects, it could be spectacular.

I have all the dvds and remember watching the show early mornings on Sydney’s channel 7 in the 80s. Nick Tate is a fellow Australian and always admired him for keeping his accent in the show which gave it a truly multicultural feel. The first season was by far the best the second was a little on the nose with Star Trek but still enjoyable. I loved how modern battle star galactica imitated the opening credits of the first space 1999 season.

Looking forward to this. Thank you for taking the time to produce this. I've always loved the design but I read once that in reality the structural design would not work. The girder design would not standup to the extreme forces it would encounter. It would be great if you could include an interview with an engineer and discuss the design. Thanks again.

Not a reboot but a re-imagining, it worked for BSG, Space 1999 had a far deeper visual canon that BSG and is ripe for a multi series arc……. Maybe starting with a sequence filmed from the surface of the moon watching a catastrophe unraveling on earth with Kate Bush ‘hello earth’ playing in the background…….

The iconic form of the Eagle on the Moon Base looked so stable and dimensionally correct... and yet, today's designers send top heavy tall landers to the moon... to fall over? This is so cool. I'm also so happy when seeing the effect shots that they don't look like some hysteric cgi strobe lightshow that most new sci-fi does. Like JJ Abrams and Alex Kurtzmans versions of Star Trek for example. Instead your shots have a feel of classic sci-fi effects. You get to actually see the ships, not hysterical editing/cutting and feeling like being on some hyper active kids sugar rush adventure. That's something a lot of modern sci-fi misses. No beauty shots of the vehicles, all just fast editing and you can't even make out the design unless you pause the movie/series. I remember sitting in the theater back in late 70's and drooling over when we got to see the Enterprise refit in drydock and that scene was so long just circling the ship. That's what I like. Looking at your video, it has that feel of classic 70's and 80's sci--fi style even if updated. Actually still with Star Trek TNG, DS9 in the 90's and even Enterprise in early 2000's we still got that style of shooting effects and spaceships, but sadly last few decades it has been replaced with hyserical effects and fast paced editing. This is just beautiful. 👍
