Foods I Avoided During Chemotherapy (And Why You Should Too!)
In this video I share the specific foods I chose to avoid during my chemotherapy journey and explain why steering clear of certain items can make a difference in overall health and wellness. As a breast cancer survivor, I hope these insights help others going through cancer treatment. Learn about the dietary choices that supported my lifestyle change. Be sure to discuss your decisions with your doctor. Also, remember any breast change should be examined as early as possible.

    I finished all chemo October 8. I had appointment with radiologist today and another telemedicine with one tomorrow. Trying to decide if I should get lumpectomy and radiation or go with single mastectomy.

    • @MomsLikeZ
      @MomsLikeZ 13 годин тому

      @@cmoore6895 congratulations on completing your Chemo! It’s definitely a tough decision. What’s your subtype? Have you had genetic testing? What stage was your initial diagnosis? All of that info should help you factor in your chance of a recurrence and help with deciding lumpectomy vs mastectomy. It’s great that you have options so take the time given to consider them all. Unfortunately, lumpectomy was not advised for me, but on the bright side I didn’t have to get radiation either…

    • @cmoore6895
      @cmoore6895 13 годин тому

      @@MomsLikeZ thank you. I don’t know subtype. How do I find that? TNBC.I had genetic testing and not genetic. Stage IIB and according to ultrasound no lymph node involvement. I really wanted to avoid radiation. KI67 is high. I believe 80%.

    • @MomsLikeZ
      @MomsLikeZ 4 години тому

      @@cmoore6895TNBC is the subtype. Sounds like your diagnosis is very similar to what mine was. Are they planning to do a sentinel node biopsy? Lumpectomy was an option for me because there was very small tumors found in other areas of the breast on the MRI. Have you had a MRI already? That may help with your decision also

    • @cmoore6895

      @@MomsLikeZ yes I had MRI and other scan in the beginning. Yes they will do lymph node sentinel Response to chemo has been good . Had ultrasound 2 weeks ago and showed size larger in some measures but shaped changed to long like collapse. Did you say lumpectomy was NOT an option for you?

    I started this TNBC journey March of this year. I have given up any alcohol (wine), potato chips and anything with high carbs. I had already given up refined sugar since it gave me headaches. I have learned about eating foods that cause anti Angeogenisis that works to cut off the blood supply to the tumor. Dr. William Li has a great book, Eat to Beat Disease and gives you a wealth of information of what to eat. Mainly cruciferous vegetables and some fruits. Thank you for sharing. ♥️

    I just had this surgery in April. It was muscle sparing and lasted 10 hours. I didn’t need any implants at all placed. They basically got skin and fat from my abdomen ( had a full on tummy tuck) and now I have brand new boobies that feel real and is my own fat and skin. I love it. They even tightened my abdominal muscles so my abs look great too. Doesn’t look like I’ve had kids at all. The extra skin and stretch marks on lower abdomen are gone. To be a candidate you have to have functioning blood vessels in abdomen so women with abdominal surgeries may not be candidate. I had two c sections but they didn’t affect my blood vessels so I was candidate. I highly recommend diep flap but do know that it is a very lengthy surgery and is a very long and painful recovery. I’m one month post surgery and still having some pain. But I would do it all over again.

      @momslikez I am a Kaiser patient. That’s my insurance. I’m in southern CA and had it done at Kaiser Permanente South Bay location. My plastic surgeon is great though and did a great job. I love my results because my breasts look real and feel real to the touch. The pain post surgery is real though. I thought I was gonna die. And it hurts for like two weeks like crazy. But once you make it past that, it gets better. My tummy is flat as before having kids. I love it. I encourage you to consider it as it is a much better option than implants given that there are more complications with implants especially if you’re gonna get radiation after and then you have to get the implants changed every ten years. No thank you

      Much of what they don’t tell us has a lot to do with the lack of participation from people of color in clinical trials. Therefore, they don’t know what they don’t know. People that look like us need to participate in more trials! I am very grateful to be on the other side of it now and I stand on the fact that I tolerated it well based off the fact that out of everything that could have went wrong while taking it, my side effects were tolerable. It took a few months. The nails basically had to grow all the way back out. The discoloration on the palms of my hand and soles of feet didn’t take as long as the nails did.

      Yes!! They got very very dark! My hands were black basically. Once the treatment ended the normal color came back

    Your not alone I'm in Keytruda and Xeloda which I'm one more cycle. I experienced all that foot and hand cracking. My Oncology Dr. reduced that dosage of Xeloda.Im experiencing dizziness coz my potassium went low. I hope you're feeling good now. I guess soon I gonna ring the bell.Im really trying my best to fight for it.

      I hope you’re doing well now. Keytruda left me with Adrenal Insufficiency, which can definitely effect potassium and other electrolytes.

    I just saw your video where you were researching micro surgeons. What did you decide on? I can’t find your video on reconstruction. I had implants in 2007….too afraid to go back for revision surgery and now have a leak and bloodwork is coming back crazy with positive ANA results which could mean I now have an autoimmune disorder or even cancer again. More testing this week. I was in the process of deciding on a surgeon for DIEP and am going to Dr Craig’s and Kline for a consult in Jan.

      Hey!! Hope all is well. I’m actually still undecided. I’m researching the place in San Antonio and New Orleans right now. Are things better for you now??
