A quick, minimally edited RES session while I'm editing story stuff. I haven't been flying this bad boy in a while, and I need to get used to flying smaller ships again for financial reasons. Looks like this one is going to do well.

Shock cannons are semi-automatic kinetic weapons that fire as fast as you press the trigger. They have high potential DPS, generate a lot of heat, and they're very effective at destroying hull.

How are you piercing the hull with effecient instead of sturdy?
all cannons wow
Dude I want that build. Gimme data please
This has been nerfed to the ground. Canons are useless now. Apart from the force shell for laughs or trolling, they are a useless weapon.
I usually target the drives instead of the PP. I see too many manage to jump out with the PP at 0%. Take out the drives and they aren't going anywhere.
That maneuver you did at 4:36 was PILOT AF!
You drive better with flight assistant off then I walk in real life...
I sort of can't get over how accurate you are lol.
The best pay to aim in games is to not fuck around with the cursor so much instead play the waiting game and only press the fire button when it passes over thing you try to hit.
how do U follow it after it flies past you? i'm locked into a joust and I dont' know what to deal with it
Very helpful! 👍
super helpful. thank you
That build you have is way to OP O.o
Didn't know I needed this until I saw it....
Odd weapons those Cytos. At times it seems they do little damage, but at 6.10, before the MC has spooled up, they do about around 12-14% Hull damage for two bursts.
because of the corrosion debuff
Jännä!
Nice fly, what is this maneuver when you press in the seat looking upwards while quickly pitching up/down ?
No idea canons would push hit ships around like that... or maybe it’s because you have 6 of them! LOL
Force Shell experimental effect does that, I have it on three small cannons
Made me wanna get in the viper and head to haz res... Thanks
I believe what you are supposed to do is snipe the glowing/flashing part of their pedals with either a railgun, or Guardian Gauss cannon after wacking them with an AX so that their health is capped lower and cant hit 100% again. additionally, fighters help, so does a wing. also remote flechetes clear out swarms now, which is cool.
At the time of the recording, missiles were the only available AX weapons and I had intentionally not studied any tactics on fighting against thargoids. I'm travelling to Pleiades sector as I'm typing this, maybe I'll encounter them again some day ;)
How do you think a bunch of these on my Chieftain or Python would go down?
very spicy indeed
and you got ammo for less than one encounter. in pvp you will be forced to use that bullshit synthesis eight times during combat
because PVP post engineers is bullshit and not even worth engaging in. engineers took combat logging and made it FEEL the RIGHT thing to do when YOU are the one doing it. and with NO consequence. BEFORE engineers, combat logging wasnt as prominent, because the TTK incentivised both players to stick around and see who will win the 30 second encounter. im being deadass with you. the game used to consider the skill of a cobra player against an anaconda player, and before engineers all there is is an A rated module and sacrificing your storage for shielding. now its 30 minutes because of what shields do and nobody wants to sit around and sweat for that shit anymore
What did you use to display your inputs (yaw, pitch, thrusters, etc.) like that? I've been trying to find a way to do that for a while.
I am using this gamepadviewer.com/ with custom config&assets
Thank you kindly.
Wtf i want shock cannons now
Ok wow! I knew they were good against hull. Hell I even had the Class 2s unlocked and on a few ships. But boy! Those class threes seem LETHAL! A Python down in seconds and way more fun to use! Any tips on heat management? I primarily use them on Cobra since I rarely use that ship for extended engagements. Here you showed me that with more of them, you need less ammo and seem to have a longer endurance. Is this true? Am I thinking about these right? Because man, I love this weapon but it's its small ammo pool that really limits this weapon.
Difference in damage between sizes 2 and 3 isn't actually that big, but size 3 gets 50% more piercing (60 vs 40) making them significantly more effective vs larger ships. Heat I just kinda deal with, keep pauses between bursts, I haven't specifically built my ship to have better thermal management but I think I'll have to focus on that at some point. Using only Shock Cannons seems viable enough for PvE, in the sense that they're decent for removing shields even though it's far from the most efficient, but I'd recommend using other weapons for that if you don't want to resupply often. I'm more concerned about wasting ammo on missing shots at small ships.
Hmm. Well thank you so much for your insight. I'm unlocking this weapon now as soon as possible. I unlocked the gimballed variant a while back since I had no experience with fixed weapons. In your experience, are the fixed worth it? I ask because they are expensive to unlock and I don't want to grind for weeks to then unlock all the models just to see what works
Fixed weapons in general have higher damage and lower distributor draw as their advantages, but are obviously harder to aim. They are objectively better by statistics, but when it comes to practical use I would say it's a matter of preference. You won't benefit from the extra damage and efficiency if you have low time-on-target. I have become used to fixed guns and I hate getting chaffed so I didn't even consider unlocking these on gimbal mount. They'd lose a few points of damage per shot but the potential DPS is still high regardless. Note that the Shock Cannons have increasing Jitter the faster you fire, I don't know how that works out with assisted tracking, especially at different ranges. With a fixed model I haven't found that problematic whatsoever if I stay close to target or deliberately limit my rate of fire when further away. They are perfectly accurate when firing slowly and their damage falloff starts at 2.5km so they're pretty flexible with regards to engagement range.
So your telling me these are basically as affective as cannons with high yeild tjat also also go through the shields of the enemy like thargoid weapons this is sleeper meta
Like dont spread this word to much got it
Basically, yeah. Keep in mind that they're good for mostly just one thing, that is disabling your targets, not killing them. While it is undeniably a very powerful ability in a fight, I wouldn't base my entire ship build on these alone. They also require somewhat precise timing to be fully effective but it isn't hard to get used to.
Yes but as seen you were doing this in a imperial couriir i see this being a great support ship in wing battles
@@cmdrnightfang4411 i put 5 of these on my cutter and had a fight against a pvp corvette and i ran out of ammo before i could take important modules down
@@powerline4564 dude i made this comment almost a year ago i know its been nerfed
love the fact that 0pips on weps and do so much efficient dps
DPE is good, but overall the weapon is not very efficient at actually destroying the target. Great utility but in the future I will pair it with other weapons for dealing damage after the target is incapacitated.
Imagine using subsystem targeting with it to pick off thrusters etc.
@@ZuluRomeo sub system targetting is worse
Great stuff! So many good training ideas here :)
Great Flying mate!
Noice.
Nice find CMDR!
Very nice CMDR that looks like a cool Cobra loadout
Thank you :) I honestly wasn't expecting it to perform as well as it did. I built it for everyday mission running, but it was not bad in combat either. Having 4 different situational weapons does mean sacrificing damage potential but the versatility more than makes up for it.
Very nice flying there CMDR
