these interviews are terrific. RIP Rickey. legend.
RICKY. THE. GREATEST OF. ALL. TIMES. WITH. OAKLAND
RICKEY. THE. GREATEST. OF. ALL. TIMES. WITH. THE. OAKLAND
I loved Monte Moore. Great childhood memories of listening to him doing A’s games.
Legend. Happy retirement Joe. You deserve it. Thank you for everything and your dedication to Red Sox nation. Pure class!
great
Thanks for posting-
Jon is on the baseball broadcasters Mount Rushmore
Love your delivery style, Donny (as you know). Colette:)
Miss Jon doing Sunday Night Baseball with Joe Morgan. May he RIP
I went to High School with Rickey. I never watched him play baseball however I did watch him play football. Let just say he was a man among boys. Such an amazing talent. Around High School he had a swagger about him that was the result of his confidence. Some people misunderstood Rickey’s confidence for arrogance. He was not arrogant, rather he was generous, always smiling and everyone felt like they were Rickey’s friend. Rickey, congratulations on a great Hall of Fame career. GOAT!
great stuff ,,, subbed
He took league by storm. Billy martin recognized hof material early
Your an idiot! He was the best EVER
Jon is so right. I grew up in Philadelphia in the 1950s and 60s and the voice of baseball to me still sounds like the late, great Byrum "By" Saam. When announcing a game to myself, that's the voice I emulate. By's reputation country-wide may not have been large, but his sound was, to me, the sound of Spring & Summer.
My childhood super hero
That is CHILLING, and in a good way.
That’s impressive
Never forget. Love my rangers
Will Ferrell needs to make a baseball movie
Jon Miller is probably the best active baseball broadcaster as of 2022.
The instinct of recognizing the pitcher's first gesture that lets Rickey KNOW he aint about to try and pick him off he's pitching to the plate. That plus his speed was NO CONTEST.
You would think pitchers wouldnt walk him so much. But they did.
I guess this is supposed to be funny.
Couldn't find him some white cleats?
Reminds me of when Billy Crystal took some AB’s in an exhibition game for the Yankees
He actually looked like he had some basic skills. Looked comfortable. No doubt a decent amateur player.
He should try and play 1 more game.
Hahaha wasted no time taking credit for mitçh hanging that slider.. He was probably right! He doesnt get the credit for spooking pitchers. WAR doesnt reflect that
Should get all the credit. He set the tone
Jon Miller is awesome and I agree ESPN Sunday night baseball is not as good without Jon Miller
Miller in the Orioles years: ua-cam.com/video/ySvY2yrQr5I/v-deo.html
A cheap hit, but it sure did cost the Rangers a lot.
Talk about someone who is self-aware
Rickey needs to do some podcasts and more interviews. This guy is gold!
youve probably watched this one ua-cam.com/video/cMrhRaOJDa0/v-deo.html
Ricky was not only an all-star, but he was perhaps the best ever. The interviewer did a great job of keeping the great Rickey engaged in the interview.
He's borderline top-10. Probably the 11th or 12th best position player.
@@treygray2817 He crossed home plate more than anyone! Most stolen bases is fun, but MOST RUNS EVER! Come on he is one of the best
Yup! He was amazing. They knew he was goona steal - he knew they knew he was gonna steal - everyone at home watching knew he was gonna steal and then... he still stole a base - made the game so exciting
@@theRATTLA You think he's higher than 11th or 12th??
His dominance gets overlooked somehow.
Ricky is the best ever. Baarns did a superb job with this interview.
What’s so interesting, to me, at least, is that Al Michaels’ family moved from Brooklyn to L.A. the same year as the Dodgers, so he heard Vin Scully calling Dodger games his whole childhood.
Everyone was hoping he'd get some action. Let's face it, baseball is more interesting with amateurs.
The Master of a lost art. No body and I mean nobody steals anymore. Thats why his records will never be broken.
Analytics show it's not a particularly valuable stat. It actually can be negative expected value if your success rate is under 74%. If Rickey played in the modern era he wouldn't steal nearly as many bases as he wouldn't have the green light to run at will. Kinda a shame, as the "rabbits" who terrorized batteries in the early to mid '80s were a thrill, even if the overall value wasn't that high.
Doug Harvey was sooo over rated. He was an absolute abomination during the latter stages of a career that should have been over long before it ended. Angel Hernandez type stuff.
Is this the rawhide pregame show?
Sounded the same at 25 as he did at 85
Holy shit jon is the greatest
Very few of the new young announcers are good. I miss the "Greats"
Monte got to see firsthand what Milo Hamilton got to experience a decade later and that was the arrogant egotism of Caray that IMO made him absolutely insufferable.
The best was when the Dodgers were up here playing the Giants and Vin joined Jon in the booth. Jon started calling the game as Vin and Vin did the same impersonating Jon. Best announced inning ever
Damn would be cool to see that. Wonder if it's here somewhere on the Tube.
I'll never get over it. Living in Texas now I've met Eric a couple times nice guy.
Jon Miller, Joe Morgan my all time favorite duo for a broadcast. Hated when they took them off the Sunday Night Game.
Lucky Strikes are about as healthy as Farmer John products.
Back then that was part of the job, even if you didn’t smoke still had to do a commercial, Mel Alan would do the Ballantine beer commercial on television right from the booth he poured a beer in a glass talk about how great Ballantine beer tasted and then start drinking the beer during the game and he would get drunk and start slurring his words
