    Thanks for that it’s a great help. This is only my second season and now have a permanent pier which has made setting up so much quicker. An observatory is my next step, which will probably be next year now.

    Hi, great video. Please can you advise, did you build the shed or did you convert a ready made one? I have a permanent pier in the garden and fancy building an observatory round it.

      Hi Thomas, glad you enjoyed the video ... For my design I decided to use a fabricated design from Tiger Sheds as I knew their structure (detached gable) seperated the roof from the side panels (meaning I wouldn't have to cut into the roof to seperate it onto the runners for my needs) When assembling I created a frame for the roof to support the V wheels rmoving along the metal runners

    • @astro_vino
      @astro_vino 2 роки тому

      But fundamentally, yes (to not have to build a shed myself from scratch) , I did construct the panel parts you get from the standard Tiger Shed 6x8

      Thank you Joe, much appreciated - I decided to just go with the tripod mount as I didn’t have to cut out for another pier but the skywatcher extension certainly helped raise the mount level … with the smaller Z61 it also made the distance between mounts more feasible

    I have a question. I also have an dew shield for mine Meade 7" Mak. But sometimes it's not efficient enough on tough dewy nights. So I bought a dew strip. You placed it over the dew shield. Others place it behind the dew shield and some under the dew shield. Why did you put in that place ?

    • @astro_vino
      @astro_vino 2 роки тому

      It was a combination of the dovetail plates top and bottom on the OTA, coupled with finding the strap worked sufficently well just around the end ring of the OTA / on the dew shield (it also helped to keep the dew shield more firmly secured) There was an interesting assessment done by James Lamb on the position / use of a Dew Strap and Dew Shield with an SCT I recommedn checking out

      Thanks Glenn - I actually had even worse tracking last night but on checking the mount this morning it appears the DEC axis has started to tighten up (RA is still perfectly fine). So I am going to unmount the scope and take a look again at the Dec - I am also going to weight distribute the scope / mount so a shift back to trying an OAG again Vs. mounted guide scope ... Now that I have the Starizona SCT IV I am getting minimal aberration to the side of the screen so feel there is more chance of the OAG now working
