Singapore’s Hidden Design Gem: A Laminate Showroom In An Industrial Area
In this week’s episode, we explore the EDL Gallery, a recently launched space dedicated to showcasing interior building materials. Located at 17 Woodlands Terrace, this gallery features a diverse range of high-pressure laminates, compact worktops, wall-cutting materials, and designer accessories.
The gallery is designed to function as both a showroom and a creative space. Its unique architecture consists of interlocking volumes, each representing different material applications and demonstrating the interconnected nature of the business. Central to the gallery is a staircase with an EDL logo, set against an off-form concrete wall and framed by a metal mesh stair core, echoing the design of the EDL laminate catalogue spine.
Visitors are greeted by a QR code mural crafted from out-of-production laminates, adding a playful touch to the space. The journey through the gallery begins at the optical bar, setting a tone of mystery and curiosity. The area is designed to highlight the tactile qualities of the materials, including an oversized lampshade made from compact off-cuts.
The library section offers an extensive view of 900 laminate designs, allowing for an immersive selection process. The canopy area, designed to evoke a forest retreat, features hidden displays and adjustable lighting to facilitate material comparisons. Three indoor tree houses within the canopy present large format laminates and popular designs, adding a whimsical touch.
A cabin, styled with a pitched roof, showcases a modern living environment with compact worktops and furniture. This section aims to inspire visitors by demonstrating practical applications of the materials. Additionally, the module spa presents wall-cladding materials in innovative ways, framed by a circular window that evokes a cabin-in-the-woods feel.
The Viefe Studio highlights designer accessories from Spain, including handles, knobs, and wall hooks. These accessories are also integrated throughout the gallery, contributing to the overall aesthetic.
The gallery is structured to guide visitors through a thoughtfully designed journey, with each zone dedicated to different materials and products, enhancing the overall experience of exploring interior design options.

Been to the sungei kadut showroom last year. It was impressive enough. This new one is another level.
Very pretty and immersive space. The set up allows home owners to easily visualise how the materials will fit in our home
What a gorgeous space!! More of an art gallery than a showroom. Makes choosing materials in our renovation journey such a joy. Worth it to make an excursion down!
This video uncovers a true hidden gem in Singapore's design scene. The laminate showroom in an industrial area is a brilliant example of creativity flourishing in unexpected spaces. I’m impressed by their thoughtful attention to detail, especially the area behind the Tree House where visitors can adjust lighting to see how different laminates look in various settings-such a practical feature for homeowners navigating tough decisions. The whimsical QR code mural made from out-of-production laminates with colourful Kueh Lapis-inspired edges adds a playful yet sophisticated touch. Their innovative approach to laminate design is truly inspiring and a must-see for new homeowners or anyone in interior design!
Such an inspiring & beautiful space. Would love to visit soon.
wowz
A I'd paradise
Stunning, feels like a whole art exhibition hall and the immersion is on a whole new level. And the range they have is pretty impressive. I feel like the space was designed to look good but practical at the same time. I'd be more confident picking out materials for my home if it was in this space. Super well shot too, as expected of Stacked.
Can't recommend this establishment enough. Great neighborhood, immaculate facilities, they've got everything but a pool.
Difficult to climb onto the upper deck. Secondly the coffin-like confined space is narrow. Thirdly I had been to other capsule hostel which has big enough compartment to keep my 🎒. Therefore I could change clothes inside the capsule instead of showing off my sexy body to other occupants in the shared space 😅
This is lovely can’t wait to go to Singapore
1:59 I would like to ask if Taiwanese people can speak Chinese if they want to stay on their own?
Really beautiful space! Love how you put this video together. Looks amazing! 🤍👍
Beautiful! Can I get any info of your couch and chair on your thumbnail? :)
Hi, the couch is from Castlery. They are a brand in Singapore. You can find the couch through this link to their website. www.castlery.com/sg?ccid=340990703&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADofMOHhux3RA_wPaEwmbjQzLAbsJ&gclid=CjwKCAiA1MCrBhAoEiwAC2d64Tgth1lR-VLlgRehVaFF3IrwdglGBtai4V2hPd44jZ5QXeTyW-mExhoCvFsQAvD_BwE
Admittedly the 'individual' furniture pieces here are beautiful. But personally 'minimalism' as a general design concept gives me the opposite "feel' that it is ironically trying to project...'simplicity'. Unfortunately, it always looks quite 'forced' and engineered, and very pronounced in a flat space. One of the concepts of minimalism is to ensure that everything owned serves its purpose and/or quality over quantity . What can 'clearly' be seen in many minimalism designs is the opposite of the intention. We see many 'minimalism' designs which include beautiful and 'solely' from an 'aesthetic' point of view ie, low back sofas, low-lined beds, hardwood /straw-backed chairs etc just to name a few, that are clearly form over function...and if we are honest are not long term sustainable in a comfort sense of the word. And therefore, this minimalist philosophy is thrown out of the window, due to its own contradiction. Has human beings we naturally seek both mentally and psychologically 'comfort' in all terms (including our home environment). This also goes for our natural evolvement and natural expectation of both colour and texture in the world around us. A recent example of this would be the well known celebrity 'Kim Kardashian's' recent interior design commision of her current home. This is completely based on the 'minimalism concept'. It is obviously both form over function (and to draw attention to it's minimalist philosophy extremities). So let us see how long this commision and its form over function will last, until Miss K (and others like her) are forced to admit to defeat, and return to a more contemporary function over form.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Can you share what is the flooring materials at the entrance? And is it suitable for apartment flooring? It's matte and so nice. Thank you.
Hi, I've asked the interior designer and he says that it's industrial grade micro-cement. Suitable for Interior Flooring and Walls.
What wall paint's brand and color's name did you use ? It's looks very calm, beautiful & seamless. Thank you 😊

Thank you for the kind words! Their space is gorgeous!
beautifully designed and practical design for your design firm. KUDOS for the simplicity and subtlety throughout.
Thanks so much! Glad you liked the design!
This is a very nice design. I'd love to see how your designs evolve over time
You can check out more of their work on our Stacked Homes UA-cam Channel. We've featured a few of their projects!
That’s a statement of who u are! 👍
Yeah they're awesome!
The germophobe in me is cringing hard at the thought of walking barefoot in a public space. Cool design though. If it works with how they do things and people don't mind open workspaces, it's probably great... for a lot of other workspaces, this is very form over function.... also barefoot...
Thanks for sharing! Open workspaces are an ongoing trend due to the work from home lifestyle many companies have adapted to. It's also a good way to host clients that visit their showroom as everything is always kept neat and tidy!
I wouldn't call this a "public space" cause generally you'll be usually working with the same group of people in a small office space. Of course you'll receive clients once in a while, just as you would receive guests in your home. I'm sure they have office cleaners to clean and mop the floor regularly, so it's not like they are walking barefoot on dirty floors. In any case, being exposed to germs is also key to priming your immune response....LOL
Lovely space! I love the idea of leaving the shoes in a cupboard before entering the office. It almost feel like you're entering into someone's home instead of an office. This will never happen here in Canada. People will think you're nuts for leaving your shoes before entering an office...LOL Btw, can you pls share where they got that beautiful big tan leather sofa at the beginning of the video?
Thank you for your kind words! The tan leather sofa is a from a local brand in Singapore. Here's a link to it. www.castlery.com/sg/products/jonathan-leather-sofa-with-ottoman
This space is beautiful. Looking forward to more content from you guys!
Thank you 😊
Beautifully done. Looking forward to the next one!
Glad you enjoyed. More to come! 😊
Where do I put my luggage? Who are your target customers? I travel to Singapore annually to visit my family and I stay in hotel or with friends. I like this hotel concept but I would like to find more to see whether it's suitable for my needs.
Thanks a bunch for checking out the video! We believe there are tons of locker choices, and the space is super roomy. Feel free to hop over to their website at www.jyuhotels.com/ for more info. The guys are really friendly and happy to help.
Is this legit other channel?
Yes, it is 😎
Love the tasteful and creative interpretation of its historical roots. Designs that lean too much into its past often have garish outcomes. But this Jyu capsule hotel is classy and classical. Well done!
Thanks so much for your thoughts, Florence!
