A 360 view of my new Spearfish 15 crossover motorised canoe in Loch Ard. This is a great fun wee boat, flies along at upto 20 kph on a 6hp Yamaha 4 stroke outboard with me which is no mean feet. I'm about the weight of two without the distribution across the boat. Handles well, very stable and paddles great, with a single canoe paddle or you can row surprisingly effectively with its own oars. I...

Ocean Kayak Malibu 2xl Catamaran Kayak, Loch Ard in the Trossachs. This is a wee hobby project to ultimately design a modular system that will link two kayaks together to sail or put an outboard motor on whether electric or petrol. The aim is to have a laugh but in the process design a rig that will allow safer access to the water for those with physical disabilities, yet provide a fun water cr...

Thanks I know this is an old video, but it just gave me an idea of what to do with my two kayaks. I’ve been trying to think of something. I’m going to put a bigger piece of plywood so that I could put some better chairs on top and sit a little higher off the water, thanks for this video😊
Hi! I would like to thank you about your idea - how to put 2 kayaks together . ua-cam.com/video/5Aebm7W7Xn8/v-deo.html Best regards!
Love it! Do you think we could over the whole thing in a platform so we could set a couple chairs and maybe even construct a binimi top for shade? I'd like to do the who thing in aluminium tubing.
🙃😊
I've been keen to do something like this for ages
I’ve just found this as I own two Tarpon 140’s and have a Mercury 5hp outboard sitting in my garage.🤔
Does anyone else wanna mount a 10hp to the back lol😂
put a 5hp outboard on it
lol...i thinking 2 stroke 8hp
Just come across this video and loved it , I love sailing and immediately thought of adding a adaption to it for a mast and boom , a centre board in the middle of the deck and maybe make a tent off the boom for shade when anchored , keep the motor never know when the wind doesn’t blow 😁 very neat little system you guys made , well done. 👍
Please share the complete dimensions. I want to build one. Thanks
Hi if I had them i would but I've since sold it on. I currently have a smaller cat using two white water six on tops, which bizarrely works well and is much easier to transport
Great idea. This way we will have room for our dog.
very cool my man
Propeller motor should be installed
Good 👍
Good idea
A sail in the middle and winds away
Looks really a simple idea. I was planning to do it with my canoes. But my canoes are different model, almost same length. Use you your idea to do it, two long pieces of wood, make a groove in the wood for the gunnel. Put a plywood in between the canoes, it should be do able... thanks
We love plockton stayed at the hotel a couple of times, the food is excellent.
Rewelacja. super.
Excellent design... this is a same design I've been thinking to design... with two sit on kayaks... and a trolling motor in the middle powered by a tool battery :-) ... I am very much interested in the design, the main reason is... that I can transport the kayaks and the wood on a vehicles roof rack.. no need for trailers!
Just need half of the kayak paddle since the people paddling only use one side. Whoever is in the middle won’t get hit by the unused end of the paddle.
nice, what's the max speed by motor or man power respectively?
About 16mph with a 6hp outbaord
Simple idea. Think I'll try adopting it or portions as pictured. Understood less than half what was said. Pic tho is worth 1k words.
This catamaran design really works well
I wonder if you could put a Hobie pedal drive on it. Right in the middle
I’ve have a petrol outboard on board and two different electric outboards now so It would be easy enough to modify
Brilliant ..looks really good and sits and rides well.
I bought a Spearfish when I moved to France. Great fun on the river Lot and wish I had bought one when I lived in Scotland! Nice video GP!
Thinking of building one myself out of fiberglass pods with struts in them to stop bowing, that's a very simple and brilliant idea and I want it for the same reason all in the car.
is he speaking in English or ???
My Brit friend tells me it's English with a moderate Scottish accent. Fun. :-) And, love the concept. Wonder if he ever got around to trying one with lighter weight materials. Also saw one online today made with PVC pipe.
Great video - one which has inspired me to invest in a Spearfish (the larger one!) from Nestaway too! Should be arriving in a couple of weeks. Any handy tips? Also, was interested to know what video camera you used for this - seems great!
John Pelosi hi, the camera I used here was a nikon keymission 360 not the best 360 camera but waterproof and ideal for this. You get one on discount now perhaps about £150 there or there abouts. I used an electric pump i got from decathalon for £40 and use that with several inflatables and a ctug cart to move it about. its a great wee boat and so much fun
I have worked on the similar project, I'm not sure how hard or easy it is to transport your set-up, check out my project i made it as minimal and as light as possible ua-cam.com/video/80BjUnZUQlU/v-deo.html
Like that setup you have definitely given me some ideas
Very cool, been thinking of doing this myself using the same crossbars and straps I use on top of my truck to haul the kayaks. Take them off my suv rack and slap them on the kayaks! Add platform with bolts and wingnuts or a couple more short straps and go! I would be careful using ratchet straps though as they can be easily overtightened to the point of damaging the kayaks. I will use cam buckle tiedown straps. Thanks
Good idea. If the straps go under the canoes it causes unwanted drag. Also I’d remove the solid section of wood between the two canoes so that each paddler can paddle on left and right sides of each canoe. No one that I know wants to paddle only on one side. Also try using canoe paddles as well as kayak paddles.
I dont see the small straps causing too much of a drag problem, especially with two people paddling or a trolling motor! Also if you didnt have the platform and 2 people were trying to paddle on both sides it would be like a 3 Stooges epidode!
A beautiful day.
Made me want to be there so much, fond memories of an summer afternoon sat in the bar there listening to some great tunes played live.
