How Henry Street Supports the Newest New Yorkers
Since 1893, Henry Street Settlement has been a lifeline for newly arrived New Yorkers, offering free English classes, employment services, arts programs, and much more. For over 130 years, we've opened doors of opportunity for our new neighbors, helping them build brighter futures.
Today, the need is greater than ever. With essential resources like food, transportation, and emergency housing stretched thin, many migrants are at risk. Henry Street has launched the Necessities for Newly Arrived New Yorkers Emergency Response Fund to raise $50,000 and ensure these vital services continue.

Every city needs a place like that, and people like Ruth. We should be coming together to help each other, community needs to be restored before it becomes a myth. I wish I were there and she could show me how to make those sewing machines behave. They never work for me, no matter how much tweaking I do, or not do.
