Hi David, could you show where you connect the flasher 6 poles connector. I have mix up the connectors when I replaced the key switch. Thanks for your help.
Sorry about your loss :( What were your engine and VIN numbers?
I’ve a 911 backdate project at the moment, sometimes I’m not satisfied with my welding or body work so what I do is take a look at one of your videos, makes me realise it could be worse
Thanks but this does not look a stage 3 build ( the head)
Absolutely gutted for you and a little bit for myself to be honest. Really enjoyed watching the videos of what you did with what was once my pride and joy! I knew it couldn’t of gone to a better home with you David. To the people that took it, you are f*****g Scum.
Unfortunately this is the ordinary persons cost of open borders here in europe. Bets are it’s on it’s way east and broken down into parts already. Useless police and other gov agencies just don’t care. Sorry for you.
Met a very kind local beat officer from Valkenburg but it dawned on me after two days that having filed his report nobody is doing anything.
So sorry David I followed all your videos of all the work you did to it and can’t imagine how bad it must feel to have it get stolen. I was just watching this video and thinking to myself I really must install a tracking device on my’72 when you said that very thing at the end of your video!
Hi David sorry i hope you get it back soon 😢🤬💩
Great music for turning wrenches too!😃
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in EU :-( In Germany the Green party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated peoples gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car parts will be banned as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investment should be done any more in cars at all...
seriously chap turn that radio off, that slop its playing will rot your brain.
Hi David, very nice explanation, can't believe you got 2 thumbs down! What were they expecting! Loved the outdoor sounds. Keep doing them and I'll have a look at your other videos. Cheers Paul
Thank you for giving us a vid' in Covid-19 virus problem How is your fab' MGB? and the E Type you were working on? stay safe from Merseyside :))
Many thanks Richard - you are a gent.
I had a Riley 1.5 with a MGB stage three in the 70s it was then a 1902cc put in a green piper cam in it for the road a 45 DCOE weber carburettor 3into2in1 manifold it was a great power house for a road I had a lot of fun couldn't stop it mine you no Disc brakes then just a servo fitted best of luck hope it;s sill going well for you.
copper line is not légal and safe here in canada
Good video on doing this job at home!
Great to see back on the old 911 again 👍 Now subscribed on my channels account as well personal 😏
Superb work. I restored a 2+2 20 years ago. And there is a lot of work
Hi David. I found you whilst searching for an e-type IRS rebuild. I think we also have a few other things in common. I have a house in Guildford but now live on the IOW. There is a very colourful character here called Kevin who sails in the Caribbean and has a yacht in Barcelona one night in the pub I asked him about his life. Apparently his first job was selling Kirby's and he said surprisingly he was very good at it and ended up sales director for UK and maybe Europe. We are both retired now so before your time, but it's a small world eh!
Steve Sands Nice one Steve. Yes, can’t immediately place a Kevin so probably he was before my time.
Thans for showing the gap issue, as I have exactly the same issue. When i got the car the costello upgrade was already on the car, but every little bump makes it squeak. So I check what it was and indeed the same issue here. The bold rubs against the schokabsorber silicon/rubber jacket and causes that sound. I changed the bottom brackets of the schock, so that they move a bit more inward. Works fine now.
Good talk
Shut up dweeb
Some are worse than others Grant!
enjoyed the video. a little nauseated by the camera movement, however.
All damaged studs need replacing or you will probably get leaks. Perhaps I left you with the wrong impression. Basics all have to be done 100% perfectly or you end up doing it all twice!
Why would you not replace your broken head stud before reassembling?
I agree that once you try to do the IRS brakeu
Many thanks Richard I must get back into it as much has happened. Currently rebuilding an MFI Porsche engine to full RS spec and I will post some videos soon.
Where are your vlogs'? E-type or 911 or MGB awesome car. I hope you are well and still touring in your MGB thank you for your previous vlogs i love cars' too (930s') from Merseyside :)
Thanks Richard will get back into it shortly.
Any resto is a lot of work Trent. I have now been driving the car for a couple of years and enjoyed it very much. This has allowed me to iron out all the mechanical issues over time and I now plan an I Provement of the dash- which is cracked and the paintwork. This should make everything look good although not too much point in expensive bodywork on a rally car. Keep watching the videos as there are plenty of hurdles to overcome. Many thnx David
What were you hoping for? Perhaps to wake up in the morning and 🧚♀️’s had built your car while you slept!
David - I’ve done this upgrade and didn’t have the issue you show here - its close but didn’t have to perform any of the grinding. I did all the assy with the cross member off the car but I don’t think that makes any difference. Now working on installing their rear suspension.
Hope it works well for you. My car is used extensively in rallies and I have negative camber lower wishbones fitted. These make all the difference to both handling and weight of the steering but do not seem to fit with the Frontline system. Remember they have electric power steering on their demonstrator.
Get a V8 if you want more torque!
Thanks Chuck, my wife keeps telling me not to but whilst she is doing the weekly shop I go upstairs and buy the cheap jeans for use in the garage!
Thanks for taking the time to detail this resto-mod.
Thank you, that's useful.
Stover nuts generally reusable but certainly worth checking
Good tips, but I would have de-greased and pressure washed the whole cage assembly before starting. Also the nuts that hold your drive shafts to the rotor/hub - need to be replaced with new ones every time. NO nylocks due to the heat, they must be deformed locking nuts - all steel. I have a series 3 Sovereign rear end in a hot rod, and I can understand the time consuming, and cursing. And mine is out of the cage..... Fitting the calipers, wiring the bolts, doing pre-load on the swing arms and hubs..... it ain't easy. Well done mate.
Many thanks Mudgrove, I wish you well with the xj and I appreciate that most people will end up cleaning everything within sight given the opportunity whilst access is good.
Thanks mate, they are good time wasters, yes? Just threading the wire is tough enough. Do you have the right twisting pliers? they are cheap. Hard to access the calipers, yes, but required for diff pumpkin mounting bolts, caliper bolts, A arm mounts to pumpkin, and front caliper mounts too. I think 25 turns per inch is right? Plenty of sites to check this out. Don't use stainless mig wire either it's too brittle. Get the right stuff for the job.
Yes very similar on xj6 as it shares the same rear suspension but with a slightly wider track.
Thank you for fine videos. About the same on xj6 series 3?
David. I have too been considering this upgrade but the content of your video does introduce concerns. What is your view of how it performs vs stock, and under what conditions. What were your expectations? Would be great to hear from you. graham
Graham Moore their test car drives just great and so I would not want to make any negative comments about them.
Having had experience working on types before I find you are much better off removing the brakes still attached to the diff. Then dealing with them as it takes a long time fiddling about with them inside the cage. Then once you have it all stripped down to the bare components of the cage and suspension components etc then cleaning it all and painting it then reassembling it again
Locking spanner method on nut to apply gentle leverage? Works much better than a mallet...much more control.
Yes most people like everything to look like new!
I think I would have cleaned the unit first be for I started
I suspect that you are right Pete but I hope to get all the parts together to build it to 2.7 litre RS spec- budget permitting!
