1976 Steelers vs Dolphins and Oilers
Don Robinson was such a good hitter that when he was having arm trouble the Pirates actually considered turning him into an outfielder, and he started a few games in 1982 in left field
Love the way nearly all of the players were from PA, with a few from Ohio, NY, NJ and MD. Teams used to be like that. And stayed around 3 or 4 years. PSU had so much talent, 3 or 4 deep, whereas Pitt went only 1 or 2 deep. But Pitt out coached Penn State once they captured the contain Paterno had in mind for Dorsett. Pitt adjusted but Paterno never made the right counter changes. It was a good game, probably the best between these two old rivals.
Who is the announcer? Sounds like the Twins radio announcer during the 80s and 90s.
Dan Marino, one of the BEST that ever did it from his FRESHMAN YEAR to his ROOKIE YEAR in the NFL 🏈 all the way till he RETIRED 🏈 and until he RETIRED 🏈 I'm talking about arm strength, accuracy Felicity, and release , in "my" opinion the perfect prototype QB for his era
Smith Michelle Jackson Donald Martinez Mary
Amos Zereoue who would ironically, go on to play in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Im hoping this current 4 year agreement leads to this rivalry being brought back on a yearly basis. I think both fan bases would agree, playing the Backyard Brawl is good for both schools. They'll play this year and next, before taking a four year hiatus and resuming in 29.
Three Rivers was special......
JR, Milo >>> greatest of times.
Wish you had the whole game!
Long live The Family! ⚾️
Do you have or are there any other ed of year docs like this one?
Back then you could hit recievers all day as long as the ball wasn't thrown. Knocking recievers off there route really made passing tough
I remember Candlestick Park in the 1970s. About 100 paying customers in attendance was common. Great times, though.
Three Rivers Stadium and Riverfront Stadium were ugly. Typical of the times. Shea Stadium, of course, was beautiful. That's where my Mets played.
Imagine today how #82 on WVU would be handled for that cheap shot on Dorsett . . . if he was still alive after the game
Leafs back in those days could take the penguins but every time they would play they other team in Pennsylvania the flyers they would choke.
Yes I remember the blue jays played there first ever game and the Penguins would win the second game of the best of three series, as a 12 year old I didn’t think they leafs would win game 3. But ironically I thought when they played they crossed state of Pennsylvanian, Philadelphia flyers the Leafs go to Philadelphia win the first two games in Philly and come back home too blow all the games, typical leafs choking 70s and decades too come, when will the curse be broken.
That too load stuff didn't last long
Where did you get the radio call, and do you know where to find the full game?
Prince was still solid. And this is where Steve Blass cut his teeth.
The city of Pittsburgh has never really recovered from the untimely death of Mayor Caliguri. What a man.
And idiot GM Tom donahoe of the Steelers suggested that Curtis Martin should stay at Pitt He said he shouldn't declare for the 1995 draft because he felt that he wouldn't be drafted. He's only in Canton Ohio today. Donahoe being fired by the Steelers is what saved their organization.
Bob Robertson had a kick-ass postseason even if few remembered it. #Un-der-ra-ted
Rooker was injured and pulling double duty.
Vick is out there jogging and blowing by everyone.
These should be the permanent home uniforms for the Giants. I like the 83 through 93 for the permanent road uniforms.
Announcers had so much respect for the other teams in those days. It's hard to even decide who's team they are for sometimes
One of the worst Georgia Bulldog performance in a bowl!! I was a sophomore in College and got so damn mad!! Horrible!!
Is Jackie Sherrill drunk in his interview?
I used to hate Tom Hume...
come on, man. Only one quarter. Shame on you!
Not too many pitchers do the over the head pitching motion anymore these days, I've noticed.
I was a Dodgers and Rams fan in the 70s but I always respected the Pirates and Steelers and had good feelings about the city and the working-class /salt-of-the earth fans.
The skating is slow, the passing is terrible, and the puck handling is awful. Hockey in the 1970s just doesn't measure up to today's hockey.
❤
I was 26 and was at that game. I'm 70 now and remember that game.
I wished college football was still like this. The announcers were the best as well.
Since WKBD-TV 50, & WXON-TV 20 DETROIT Early 1970s, & 80s!!!?
For Detroit Red Wings Hockey!!!?
Love those pirate caps
Pitt from 1976-82 was really good.
This recording is so clear
The first two (2) seconds... I thought they were playing the chorus/bridge of Al Ham's "Move Closer to your World."
Great pass by Bugsy Butler on Berenson’s goal. Butler was one of my favorites when he played with the Rangers.
Don Sutton always checking the ball for his scratched up area 😅😅😅 once you notice it you'll realize he does it all the time. Him and Tommy John threw spitters too. Well a lot of guys did...
Just a horrific coaching job by Foge Fazio and his staff in 1984. No excuse to win only three games.
Interesting to me that most of these players were a bust in the NFL.
Great to see the old Bucs manager, Harry Walker!
at least Mrs. Atkins gets the ten tasty cakes, kind of a cruel contest
Tim, did you tape these with a VHS recorder or another format? Out of curiosity.
Palko was a bum
