Martin Scorsese is known for his gritty, meticulous film-making style and is widely considered to be one of the most important directors of all time. His most acclaimed films are demanding, sometimes unpleasantly intense dramas and have enjoyed relatively little commercial success. However, in terms of artistry, he is perhaps the most significant American director of the late 20th and early 21s...

Robert denero lost all my respect and their are millions with me 😊 laughing and having fun. Did you get your greek boat, maybe bingo
Em inglês é o certo , tudo original é melhor , sei que riram de mim mas sou assim por ser superior a mediocridade e sou autêntica. Sei separar as coisas . Bom dia 😃
Scarface.
Back when these guys (Scorsese and De Niro ) 😊weren’t so heavily invested in politics.. it’s all they do now it seems
Get rid of the background music/ noise please
Waaaay ahead of its time. Jerry was superb.
One of my favorite comedies. This is more than a comedy its a creepy movie about stalking and living someone else's life and the duality of celebrity obsessions. Lewis, DeNiro and Bernhard are all perfect. I can't understand why this didn't resonate with audiences at the time.
My first girlfriend was a huge Sandra Bernhard fan and she showed me this movie. I was blown away by it. It’s my favorite Scorsese film. I’m glad it’s been rediscovered by a new audience.
心地よい響きを有り難うございます。👏👏🥰
Good job! Great video!👌
I saw it when it came out and I loved it! I was so disappointed that it was a flop. I thought, what is wrong with people? The human race evolves and now it is a well loved movie. One of my favorites! ❤
What on earth was there to misunderstand about this film when it came out originally? Admittedly, I saw the film in an empty theatre when it was released but I loved the movie immediately. Was it that too many people were up their own asses about their own awe of celebrity to get it the first time round?
I'm assuming the title fooled people who were expecting the movie to be an actual comedy.
The Soundtrack was excellent too. Scorsese never disappoints...
What people don't know. It was all an illusion made up out of Rupert's head.
It's interesting that Scorsese remembers Entertainment Tonight choosing "King of Comedy" as the flop of the year. Because their critic Leonard Maltin picked it as one of his top 10 movies of 1983. In his book, he still rates it 3 and a half stars out of 4.
Financial flop doesn't mean critical flop.
That was the only movie I saw Jerry Jewis where he wasn’t mocking the mentally disabled.
great video, thank you.
The Joker film was mediocre at best
LEGENDS!!
The movie starring Sean Penn THE ASSASSINATION OF RICHARD NIXON was also inspired by TAXI DRIVER and THE KING OF COMEDY, even though the film is loosely inspired by a real life person and real events..
One of my all time favorites 😊
I guess I was one of the few, that was mesmerized by it, back then.
Somebody should punch Deniro in the face, right punchy!!??
Born in Rapid City raised in Sturgis. South Dakota especially the black hills is a beautiful place. Year round hunting fishing winter sports. Great place to grow up. Filling up with retirees these days. Definitely worth a visit. The horse cavalry from Fort Meade just outside of Sturgis ended up with George Patton in the third armored tanks spearhead division. My grandfather was with him in WW2. Thanks for the video.
South Dakota is indeed a beautiful place.. thank you so much for watching and the lovely comment - learnt something new :) And how great it is to hear that your grandfather was with General Patton during WW2.. what an experience it must've been..
Great video!
Still crap.
Why would you use a computerized voice to do this?
Notice how many times Meryl Streep was within the nominees. Constantly !
The movie poster with De Niro on the Joker card was prophetic.
Literally me (I am mentally ill‼️‼️‼️)
I dont know anyone who says The King of Comedy is not a good movie. Nobody.
I do. Now you know one.
I thought it was garbage when I watched it in the early 90's, it is so relevant now and absorbing to watch.
@@FLASHAHOLIC_TV I don't know what it is about Scorcese movies but they always bring me right in. He's a maestro.
KofC was about 30 years ahead of its time. Today the many Ruperts out there are running fan sites and doing all the social media they can to get famous even with no talent. The way Rupert recognizes Jano, the butler, would have taken total obsession to discover in the early 80s. Now Rupe can just Google it and The Rupert Pupkin Show can be made in his iPhone. In the 90s he’d have been on cable access.
I thought I knew everything about this great film, but I guess I didn't. Nicely done.
Remember kids…. “Exhaustion “ = drugs
Fact #13, The Clash and friends are the "street trash" that call out to Sandra when she and Deniro are bickering on the sidewalk.
Damn, that was MY fact 13! I'm two weeks too late. (I'll post it on some other KOC review, that you haven't yet wrecked for me . . . I so want to be a celebrity)
@@andrewpereira9271 Make sure not to say that Joe Strummer is the one beckoning to her as it's Kozmo Vinyl. I recognize Mick Jones and Ellen Foley but Joe isn't there.
"Street Scum"
I often refer to "The King of Comedy" as the best movie you never heard of, and unfortunately that still applies to so many. You could use the viewing of this film with friends or other acquaintances as a measure of their general intelligence. Those that love the film I would deem intellectually gifted. Those who don't get it or badmouth it are too stupid to hang out with in the first place.
Yes I agree. I loved it when I saw it in ‘83. I totally got it. Peoples intelligence levels are so varied.
With mental illness awareness and education being more common now, this movie makes more sense today than it did when it was released.
Big time!
@@thetvbaby83It made perfect sense at the time. You did not need those issues to see the films' worth then or now.
@@candelise idk how old you are, I'm old. Never seen the movie until Joker came out. What are saying exactly?
@@thetvbaby83 It was a great film then, it's a great film now. Simple.
@@candelise true
Really... it wasn't that good.
@Woodchipper King blue print for Joker and a true statement on mental health issues and the worship of celebrity. Ahead of its time.
it was great
The movie was very disturbing and uncomfortable you couldn't get close to Rupert characters like grabbing a bag full of elbows it was brilliant but not relatable
Great movie, it's nice to see people talking about it
GREAT ART DOES NOT ALWAYS SELL
And shit art sometimes gets promoted, as this video is trying to do.
@@sheilamacdougal4874 Poetic Justice would be if you make in your field and you get stalked people are scaring your one of them
The Absolutely 💯 % Most Gorgeous Guy Ever.😍💞💕
I wanted Sally Hawkins to win.
wish there were scripts out there of some of his movies
NIce video. 😀
Great video, but the bridge going over the Missouri River you took in Chamberlain isn’t I90. The I90 bridge would be on your left (south) of the bridge you took.
That is indeed a good catch, you've got a good eye :) Thanks so much for watching!!
One of my favourite movies is "Forest Gump',but I also like "Ordinary People" and "Terms of endearment".They are not my favorite movies, but they are very, very good and I like them. They are on my list between my favorite movies and the ones I just love! "Driving miss Daisy" is sad (for me). "Titanic" is one of my favourite movies too.
Natalie is the best of all the time 🙏
I love how genuinely excited Cate was when Marion won!
I don’t care what anyone says. Charlize Theron has given the best performance in a film of the century so far! Marion cotillard is a close second tho
Benedict Cumberbatch in The Power of the Dog is fantastic.
2021 Francés McDormarnd Nomadland 2022 Jessica Chastain The eyes of Tammy Faye🙂🙂
