One of my favorite comedies. This is more than a comedy its a creepy movie about stalking and living someone else's life and the duality of celebrity obsessions. Lewis, DeNiro and Bernhard are all perfect. I can't understand why this didn't resonate with audiences at the time.

My first girlfriend was a huge Sandra Bernhard fan and she showed me this movie. I was blown away by it. It’s my favorite Scorsese film. I’m glad it’s been rediscovered by a new audience.

I saw it when it came out and I loved it! I was so disappointed that it was a flop. I thought, what is wrong with people? The human race evolves and now it is a well loved movie. One of my favorites! ❤

What on earth was there to misunderstand about this film when it came out originally? Admittedly, I saw the film in an empty theatre when it was released but I loved the movie immediately. Was it that too many people were up their own asses about their own awe of celebrity to get it the first time round?

The Soundtrack was excellent too. Scorsese never disappoints...

What people don't know. It was all an illusion made up out of Rupert's head.

It's interesting that Scorsese remembers Entertainment Tonight choosing "King of Comedy" as the flop of the year. Because their critic Leonard Maltin picked it as one of his top 10 movies of 1983. In his book, he still rates it 3 and a half stars out of 4.

That was the only movie I saw Jerry Jewis where he wasn’t mocking the mentally disabled.

Born in Rapid City raised in Sturgis. South Dakota especially the black hills is a beautiful place. Year round hunting fishing winter sports. Great place to grow up. Filling up with retirees these days. Definitely worth a visit. The horse cavalry from Fort Meade just outside of Sturgis ended up with George Patton in the third armored tanks spearhead division. My grandfather was with him in WW2. Thanks for the video.

KofC was about 30 years ahead of its time. Today the many Ruperts out there are running fan sites and doing all the social media they can to get famous even with no talent. The way Rupert recognizes Jano, the butler, would have taken total obsession to discover in the early 80s. Now Rupe can just Google it and The Rupert Pupkin Show can be made in his iPhone. In the 90s he’d have been on cable access.

Fact #13, The Clash and friends are the "street trash" that call out to Sandra when she and Deniro are bickering on the sidewalk.

I often refer to "The King of Comedy" as the best movie you never heard of, and unfortunately that still applies to so many. You could use the viewing of this film with friends or other acquaintances as a measure of their general intelligence. Those that love the film I would deem intellectually gifted. Those who don't get it or badmouth it are too stupid to hang out with in the first place.

With mental illness awareness and education being more common now, this movie makes more sense today than it did when it was released.

Great video, but the bridge going over the Missouri River you took in Chamberlain isn’t I90. The I90 bridge would be on your left (south) of the bridge you took.

One of my favourite movies is "Forest Gump',but I also like "Ordinary People" and "Terms of endearment".They are not my favorite movies, but they are very, very good and I like them. They are on my list between my favorite movies and the ones I just love! "Driving miss Daisy" is sad (for me). "Titanic" is one of my favourite movies too.
