Meet the classic car, a series 2 Morris Minor
always wanted one of these, currently restoring a Z250a with a view to getting the funds together for a 400 four.
Love the bike, been riding 45 years and currently have a Royal Enfield and a Royal Alloy Scooter and as I get older I tend to go out on the scooter more and more
Picked a well 'used' 1978 GS750, my biggest bike I have and really love how simple it is as I catch up in some deferred maintenance. Love how it rides too.
That is what struck me too
Suits you sir, it looks a lovely bike and sounds great too
I still don't understand putting digital gauges on modern classics. We like modern classics because they are newer and more reliable but mostly because of the way they look. A digital gauge ruins the vibe of modern classics.
Yes forgot to mention that as a negative. I can see the feel that conventional instruments give to a machine such as this.
Lovely bike, definitely a choice for people who want something a bit different and for whom the journey is as enjoyable as the destination. Once again well presented enthusiastic entertainment from Steve!
Thanks Brian
Used one of these as my only transport for over 20 years and put up 120000 miles on it with no issues . Great little bikes .
Why not turn the bike more to the right so we can't see it at all?
Agreed calling that a bobber is the same as putting big teeth in a poodle and call it a pitbull
Odd no close up shots of the bike at all....anyone know why ?
Because it looks like a dog's dinner
A mentioned above simply ran out of time. I spent to much time chatting with the owner
Totally agree with you about treating the bikes properly, it doesn’t spoil the review, ignore these daft people. Thank you very much😀👍
Glad you agree
What a stunning bike
Indeed
People are finally waking up to the fact you don't need a zillion horsepower to enjoy yourself.....Medium power, light weight and great handling are all that's needed....
Yes this is great for quiet country roads. Just the right amount of pwer etc
What a gorgeous bike, God, I would love to have that
So would I
Psht! Who wants to see the bike close up!? Not me! :(
Hey let's go into this moldy 10' wide alley at an angle. Better yet we can talk over the sound of the bike.
@@realsasquatch8781 Exactly!
Sorry about the lack of the usual close up, I ran out of time, I promise it will return on the next one
@@shuttersandspeed Cool!
What a beauty..thanks for the vid boys.
Someone said they cost £30 new,i`m sure i saw them in the catalogue at about £69 in 1973,mine was red and as for dangerous, nah i only came of it once on a kerb but it was heavy biking it up big hills with my little legs.Glad it only had 3 speed though anymore it would have been dangerous
Just had my bike mapped and what a difference.. laughing all the way home. Worth every penny guys.
Just got this app, not properly used it yet, just a couple of trial "tracking" runs but it looks very promising. Very helpful video, not too long and a good mix of information and entertainment.
Thank you glad you found it useful
My father served in the British Army and he was CO of the Royal Signals motorcycle display team 'White Helmets' in the mid 1970s. They used Triumph Tiger 750s as their main rides and they also had two Triumph Adventurers / Trophy Trials for the jump tricks. I remember the brutal sound that those bikes used to make when I would sometimes watch them practicing displays in Catterick as a young child.
Fantastic memories
Many Thanks Enjoyed that Love motorcycle racing Going to Olivers Mount on Sunday Fantastic circuit
Thank you for the video, it's down to watching this that I have just booked my 2017 tracer in for the remap. I'm assuming as the video is old now, you no longer have yours. Did you have any issues after? Thanks.😊
No I still have it and enjoying it, No oroblems so far.
My bike is now done.. WOW what a difference in ride ability. It's like having a brand new bike. Thank you for your review as it's worth every penny. My bike is completely standard, so i wasn't chasing bhp or torque, although I got more of both in the mid range. It's now a dream to ride. No snatch from the throttle. Yamaha should have done this from the factory.. just ashame they are restricted by silly emission restrictions. Amazing difference.👍
Some really good pictures, nice action shots👍🏻
I’ve just got an AP50 to restore, wishful thinking if I can get it to this standard?
Do a Brembo 4 pot brake calliper conversion with either light weight or floating discs, you could put a T150 front end on their to give twin discs on the front as I have done on my '79 T140
80s
Lovely bike, I had a Honda 100xl in the early 90
That right crank seal to the gearbox is f**ked, first half of the video. Jesus!
Heard a rumour back then that Honda wanted to stop production because they nearly cost as much to produce as a 750 four. Great little bike and like a lot of stuff from that era you can look after them your self.
Had a bright yellow X5, skipped a place an got a 380.....YES I was an idiot back then. 😂.
My first bike back in 1976 great bike
Like 100
If you listen he said his wrk has taken out that way
Girls bike where I come from. Jus saying
Why don’t you ride down there !! Don’t tell me you haven’t got one 😂😂😂😂
If you'd listened he says his wrk has taken him out that way in the car
My first bike, miss it ,in NZ they were unrestricted .
I had the same in 1981, also in blue, I remember that sound!
I used this on my France/Spain tour. Great app and the only problem was user error. I forgot to turn off unpaved roads, which proved frustrating until figured out!
I actually need opposite, more unpaved roads. Good to know there is option for it. thanks
Great, useful review. Could you say also if it is not getting too hot in it? I watched some comparison review and they claimed this helmet was great, but the temperature inside apparently is much higher than in other ADV helmets. Poor ventilation?
I have found it to be ok and the ventilation to be pretty good.
@@shuttersandspeed Thank you
I owned the 550 super sport which I think was made in the same year ( I bought it from a car yard back in the 80s for Aust. $550). It was a much better bike then the old K2 750 I owned and if the 400 is anything like the 550 was it must be a great bike. I haven't upgraded the age of the bikes I own by much. I now own an 82 VF 750 Magna.
I had a 550 for years, a 400 for the last 10 and many miles all over UK / Europe on both of them. I prefer the 550 on the road as the 400 is a lot more 'buzzy', but in some ways that's its charm. Both are better than the F2 750 I had for a while.
Thank you for the review, very helpful. I have created a custom map with different colours for land, main roads, minor roads etc to make them stand out and become for visible but it seems that when I view this on my Chigee screen, the view is not the map I have created. It appears just like the screen you have behind you in your video. Is there a way of making the custom map appear on my Chigee screen (I'm using Apple Carplay).
Is the visor light smoke or dark smoke?
It is a light smoke which I find to be great.
Do think it’s light smoke? I think so aswel as I don’t think it’s dark enough for dark smoke, which the description on stores/websites all claims to be dark smoke
Thanks for the video. I used to ride these roads in the early 80's on my RD350LC. Doesn't look like they have changed much.
As did I on a RD250LC those were the days
0:23 can someone tell me what bike is this here ? 0:23
It is a Suzuki GT250X& from around 1980
thats so strange i own one and visit my uncle in the villlage you was riding in outwell every week with it
If he want sale pls let me know.
Gs750 and z650 were thee best middleweights I think. Gs1000 and z1 were the best above that. Bulletproof motors, unlike most Honda's of the era. Crackin bikes the whole Gs range.
400/4's, Gt380's,cb360's etc amongst a few others back in the day, weren't very high on anyone's wish list as not much if any quicker, than most L plated 250's. Though I never liked them myself, have to applaud this particular owner and his bike.👏👏 Many more happy rides to him. Great video...enjoyed it very much.🍻
Great review mate
Ugly seat and lose the rack. Spoils the beautiful lines of the bike.
20:10 - perception was that back then the Japanese were making their frames out of what amounts to water or gas pipe. I had a 750 F1 back in the late 80's and although the geometry felt absolutely fine, if you hit a camber change, raised/thick white lines, a surface change, whatever, at any kind of speed in a fast sweeper it would quite often go into a what I can only describe as a 'corkscrewing' wobble which I was in no doubt was the frame flexing. Which of course is why the likes of Rickman made frames for them which were little different in construction/geometry but of rather better tube.
Absolutely. They all had their problems as you mentioned but if you cruise along at legal speeds they were ok
