I don't think Mark Millar would agree with Todd on this. Not putting words in his mouth, but based on his recent comments, he does seem to agree that the comics industry has changed and not for the better. There's an obvious agenda - they've said as much. This isn't some kind of conspiracy theory. They stopped writing for their existing audience and started writing for the audience they wanted to have, and that's the problem.

I understand he’s being the greats and I love his art…but just because he doesn’t care doesn’t mean there isn’t room for valid criticism for example early spawn writing isn’t grate but the are is awesome …that is valid but to write that off is stupid….i think it’s because most of comics is very one sided thinking in the entire industry trying to make sure an audience that isn’t there’s is satisfied but they aren’t the ones grabbing the comic they just care about if something falls in their politics

I’m not sure why Todd McFarlane jumped the shark with your question. Obviously he is passionate about creating, that’s fine and valid, but I never would have expected him to not take that question head on especially in regards to what has been going on in the industry of comics from stores to distribution to publishing. It’s clear that some people initiated a move to force material not necessary nor appropriate into film, television, comics, and video games. All of which are receiving severe backlash from customers. And there is one thing that I’ve always respected about Todd in all his talks that being the customer is the most important part of the equation as it sustains the art and that he is grateful for them and would stand in line for hours and forego lunch and breaks to sign a book in appreciation. No one is asking for tailor made work in entertainment (that’s commission stuff), they’re just asking for these people to put aside their personal issues and politics and do better in providing entertaining escapist material.
