      @SirJackII Yeah, but i had to replace the battery, with on of my old ones, because the original one i ripped out wrong, so i had to break the holder out too, so it could just be damaged, or i need to charcge the battery, which i cant

    I was watching this while acknowledging how I goofed up on the screws, my screws grinded just because I used a 1.6Y screw driver

    Thanks, I used your guide to switch a board, I´ve only kept the Vibration motor and the IR receptor from the botton because were very hard to change, everything else I used from my Yellow Controller, after the change all works but funny enough it detects it as a red joy-con and not yellow. Does this "color" info comes imprinted in the board or could it be because of the IR that I didnt changed?

    • @SirJackII
      @SirJackII 3 дні тому

      The colour information is on the board haha, you can change it on a Windows PC using Joy-Con Toolkit

    Just finished reshelling mine. Accidentally broke the button on the ribbon cable while putting the zl button down. Needed to wait for the replacement. And accidentally pulled the wire on the wifi board. Waited for the replacement as well. After all that, it was a satisfying little project.😆 Definitely a learning experience.😅😁

    Did this without tweezers, welcoming a set of glacier blue joy-cons to the family. iFixit guide was confusing so I looked up a video to show me better. Absolute legend!

    Hello! Having some issues with the left joycon for the zl, l and arrow buttons. I can get the joycon to recognize the switch and the side battery works. But I'm having no luck with the recognition of the - button, zl, L or arrow keys. I've tried reinstalling it about 5-6 times at this point but I dont know if I've somehow messed up the cable. Any clue on what could be the issue?

    • @NotJuanGonzalez
      @NotJuanGonzalez 2 місяці тому

      Sounds like it could be an issue with the ribbon cable not being seated in properly. I’d recommend unplugging and replugging each ribbon cable. The more unlikely problem could be that you tore all the ribbon cables a small amount which would require new parts. Ribbon cables are very sensitive and if seated even .01% incorrectly they may not respond.

    • @blossomtthorn
      @blossomtthorn 2 місяці тому

      @@NotJuanGonzalez Yeah it does turn out the cable of the side Zl ended up getting pinched when I rehoused it and it got scratched as a result. I ended up re-buying a new left joycon and re-doing the mod. It turned out perfectly the second go-around thanks to my numerous mistakes from the last mod. You learn a lot fiddling with things.

    i’m really nervous to take my joycons a part even thought i want to buy new joycon shells. last time i took a part my switch light, it never worked again. even with countless times taking it a part and trying to fix it again. i’m afraid of them not working anymore once i take them a part and everything being creaky and loose

    You need to be specifiying the lengths of screws that go where during reassembly. It's not even funny how many slight warps I've created in my plastic because you were deliberately opaque.

    • @NotJuanGonzalez
      @NotJuanGonzalez 2 місяці тому

      If you plan to do this you should be aware of the different sizes and organize your screws to know where they originally went.

    • @Nickboy-791
      @Nickboy-791 2 місяці тому

      Right, and I'm saying a beginner tutorial should either be highlighting where specific screw lengths should go or state up front exactly what you said. I shouldn't have to go into comments for a solution, nor should I be finding out there are different lengths midway through following along.

    Yo I just wanna put this out there, for anyone having trouble putting in the ribbon cable that's connected to the back of the battery holder. What helped me (since I'm left-handed and using tweezers with my right hand was a complete nightmare) was to unscrew the ribbon cable from the holder, insert it onto the motherboard FIRST, then re-screw it to the battery holder properly and put it back together. Voila, you got it. Hope this helps any lefty people out there that's struggling to swap out their right joycon shell. Peace!
