Hi, I'm Stuart Morris. I enjoy setting myself outrageous challenges, often involving walking, cycling or wild-camping, and then uploading my misadventures in video form! It was either this, or become another person uploading streams of photos to Facebook.
York Review: 45 - Huddersfield
Huddersfield is the final West-Yorkshire town on our list, which I actually forgot to mention in the episode. This is a big deal! Let's see if Huddersfield can take us out with a bang.
I'm cycling to every large place near me in order of ascending distance, and rating them - with the end goal of reaching Flamborough. This is York Review!

Scunthorpe is our second jaunt to Lincolnshire, but it has a lot to live up to! It may have been a while since a York Review upload, but I'm pretty sure I remember the format. Let's see how it goes. I'm cycling to every large place near me in order of ascending distance, and rating them - with the end goal of reaching Flamborough. This is York Review!
Old Forge Hike - Scottish Wild Camping: Full trip
Переглядів 3833 місяці тому
The Old Forge of Inverie is Great Britain's most remote pub, lying on Scotland's West Coast in the Knoydart Peninsula. There are no roads or trains to Inverie, but you can walk in - if you fancy a 2 day hike through dangerous mountain-country. This pub-walk is not for the faint hearted, yet we're trying it anyway. Come and see how far we get, in Great Britain's hardest bar-crawl!

Barnsley is the second town of the second York Review expedition! Join me as I wander semi-aimlessly around a former coal-mining metropolis. I'm cycling to every large town near me in order of ascending distance, and rating them - with the end goal of reaching Flamborough. This is York Review!

Wath-Upon-Dearne! It's been a long time since the last upload, but it's like riding a bike - you hope you never forget. I've been waiting too long for this - let us finally begin our South Yorkshire expedition! York Review: 41 - Bradford

Bradford time! Casual travellers may not realise that there is another city hiding in the shadow of Leeds. Will Bradford try to match the scale and size of Leeds, or will it seek out another niche? But most importantly - will it be enough to climb the Yorkshire rankings? Bridlington has a lot going on - I'll do my best to give a fair review, and I'll try not to get too distracted by its alarming proximity to my final destination. I'm cycling to every large town near me in order of ascending distance, and rating them - with the end goal of reaching Flamborough!
York Review: 39 - Goathland
Переглядів 195Рік тому
Goathland almost looks like goat-land, which implies a town filled with goats. But that's just silly - they're sheep. What else lurks in this village out in the Moors? Only time will tell! I'm cycling to every large town near me in order of ascending distance, and rating them - with the end goal of reaching Flamborough!
York Review: 38 - Barmston

Barmston was skipped during the York Review coastal expedition, as Finningley was the 37th town in the list. So now we return to the coast for a one-off cycle! But Barmston is small, and easy to miss. Will I even find it? I'm cycling to every large town near me in order of ascending distance, and rating them - with the end goal of reaching Flamborough!

Finningley marks the return of York Review, for its final 12 episodes! Having spent the last few episodes on the coast, the small village of Finningley will be a change of pace - but one with a few surprises in store... I'm cycling to every large town near me in order of ascending distance, and rating them - with the end goal of reaching Flamborough. This is York Review! Special shout-outs this...

That pointy thing on the other hill is Emley Moor tower, the tallest freestanding structure in the UK!
142 William Bradley's if my maths is correct
Damn that's a great fact! I was so close to Googling what it was, but I decided the episode was already too long
Excellent as usual.. 👌👍😎
Very well done, all of you. Congratulations on making an entertaining video of the trip too.
🚲
💯
That is the correct amount of feta for a Greek salad!
What an awesome journey❤. I did LeJog in 2006. A brilliant experience. We stayed in campsites and went up the East Coast. Longer but quieter. It was superb!!
Thanks Lads love your video style. Capturing the random nature of cycle touring. Nicely. 😊
Before watching this whole series, do have the final episodes in the making? You seem to move onto Scotland instead...?
There are definitely more York Reviews on the way! I usually let other videos jump the queue when they're group efforts - I don't want people waiting for York Review to finish before seeing their adventures
@@StatusMirror Fair enough! My wife and I have watched your Scottish videos, and started on your charity cycle (on part 3). YT needs to get your channel out more. Your channel is fun and interesting.
What kind of willerby would willerby be without a chippy whilst looking at Harper's of staxton fish and chip shop 😂 staxton is next to willerby you rode through it thinking it was willerby easy mistake, I live 5 minutes up the road and it took me 40 years to know willerby even existed.😂.
I could not stop laughing at the commentary and the plight you were in from Corryholly. Though I think the funniest part was when I saw all the tins of food what someone had bought. it looked like a supermarket shop for a month. Great video, loved it. On a positive note you have walked three stages of the Cape Wrath Trail (CWT), why not do the whole thing , please. :) I've done it three times (CWT)and yes your initial mistake was to cross the river (your initial camp) by Corryholly and I would have gone back to Corryhully but the entertainment from the initial river crossing was hilarious. Excellent video, hope to see you all on the Cape Wrath trail. I will keep an eye out for that flapjack that was dropped :)
Great comment! I think having a tin-stuffed bag probably led to my knee pain, so it's a fair critique. CWT sounds interesting too! I hope you landed on the weather for at least one of your treks - I'm yet to see evidence that Knoydart ever gets sunny ;)
Just watched your video on Bridlington keep it up I like what your doing
It’s called a sea fret, well that’s what me Yorkshire grandad called it! 😊
Ooh Mallaig. Best fish n chips ever. From chippy at end of railtrack in Mallaig 😋. A refreshing vid this. Good job👏👍🏼
Fantastic little mini series! Well done Status!
I don't know why you'd go to Scotland and not take a waterproof coat. Lesson learned, hopefully.
So Paul thought he did bring a waterproof coat - it was in one of those pouches. Unfortunately, instead of a coat-pouch and trouser-pouch, he grabbed two trouser-pouches
@@StatusMirror oh I see. His legs must have been wonderfully extra dry. I'm sure it averaged out with his soggy top half. That's how averages work, right?
Great Video.. Again 🫡
Pretty but fuck all to do, i live there
Sums up my feelings well!
I'm the shed king btw, no big deal
Looks so shit
What a gaggle of fools
That's a thumbnail that says trauma.
Shame we didn't get footage of the thigh high ford 😂 Probably the longest day I've ever experienced - the midday "nap" made it feel like two days within 24 hours!
"I don't regret my decision 😂" We need a camping food review spin off regular series.
You should have had a beer on the station before you started. Can it really be called a "bar crawl" if there's just one pub? Still, love the video!
It's rumoured there's an earlier take where we thought we could get a drink in Glenfinnan, but had to be re-recorded when we found out Glenfinnan was empty
@StatusMirror oh that's a shame. Still, really cool expedition!
Oh my god. Is Status Mirror an annogram for Stuart Morris or similar?
You've cracked the code! I'm aware it's a bizarre name for a channel without that context
Proper enjoyed that. Have missed your content. Just wondering when 'York Review' will reach its conclusion?
Cheers! I've let this series skip the queue as it has other people in it, and I didn't want to keep them waiting (this footage is nearly a year old). Rest assured, I haven't forgotten about York Review!
@@StatusMirror That's good to hear! I know you've left York now but do you think you'll ever revisit?
Spam wrap looked disgusting
Great for fans of Spam
I don't think this is a spoiler because I don't think Stu has footage of this, but at a later bothy we met a man who hollowed out a tin of spam (or think it was something else like corned beef or maybe even haggis) and used it as a shot glass to drink whisky. It looked incredibly suspect.
Well done guys top effort
Why are you wearing a climbing helmet on a bike?🤣
T'capital.... love York ....
Why Wath ... It's just a part of Barnsley imo. It had 3 train stations too
Aha, I select locations based on Google Maps - I'm doing every named place which appears on a certain zoom level. Wath did feel like it had its own identity when I went
I really like your clip here , that pit was actually huge im sure there pics of it from the 80s . It wasn't Barnsley Main, but Oaks Colliery that exploded ... which became part of the later Barnsley Main site kind of . There were quite a few pit disasters in the Barnsley area at that time , very sad when you read the history of it and those familys left with no breadwinner. Much of the Western side of Barnsley on the Pennine foothills lies within the Peak District NP . the way you came into Barnsley via Wath is, or rather was the heart of the Barnsley Coalfield (mostly eastern side of Barnsley Area). You rode on mostly old coal railway lines . 👍
Cheers for this, I appreciate your comment - I actually struggled to find a lot of info on specific mines. I also don't cover much serious stuff and I was worried I'd get the tone wrong!
Great set of films, made me laugh and smile, how about Jogle to complete the circuit? 😬🤗👍🏻
Technically Papatowai is close to York if you think about it
Underrated comment
Epic trip very nicely documented, well done
Lovely place.
It looks nice.
It looks nice.
Is Driffield a good place to live? Thinking of moving there or Retford? Thanks
Wow!!! As someone from Wath-Upon-Dearne, I really enjoyed this. (I pronounce it Woth ;) ) Especially appreciated the "Morris" dancing moment. Sadly, the library featured behind you is set for demolition, from what I understand. Appreciated the buses feature, too, lol! Most I've seen in ages in Wath!
Great comment! It's always good to see a local stumble across my stuff 😀 "Woth" was a fun place to see!
Thanks guys.
Another great Video .. 🫡
Maybe a real "Yorkshire" visit to Richmond..?
Richmond isn't on my original 48 list unfortunately (slightly too far from York) - but I have been there before! It features very briefly in our coast-to-coast walk video. Not quite as polished as a York Review episode though
@@StatusMirror Yep.. a fair way...Thanks for reply just catching that coast-coast walk..good stuff.. ⛺ 👍
I thought the awkward transition was brilliant!
Abingdon has a similar bun throwing tradition done on years of special interest to the royal family (Queen's 70th Jubilee and King's Coronation are two recent ones)
Oo interesting! I was in Abingdon near Christmas, and a spontaneous play erupted in a pub I was in. There's something going on in that town...
@@StatusMirror That's awesome, which pub was it?
@@stpirate89 Crown and Thistle. We'd just left a conference and there were probably 20-30 of us crammed in there - must have been the biggest crowd they've ever had! They said it's an old Abingdon tradition, and I think one was the local town crier.
Science + Media. S+M. Stuart Morris. SM. Coincidence?
I loved the way the curry span for the scene transition, and the little Batman sting was * chef's kiss *
I'd love one of those Doughnuts! Save me one
As if I have the self control to not demolish the whole bag 😂
I am waiting for the first Y entry
For a place to score Y, it has to be worse than Willerby - that's a very low bar to limbo under in terms of day-trip potential
Do you know what? I'm going to miss your content once it reaches it conclusion. Don't comment much but have followed 'York Review' from the very beginning and have thoroughly enjoyed each and everyone them. I appreciate all your hard work and infectious enthusiasm. Just wanted to say. Tah for all the entertainment.
Thanks for the comment! It really makes my day when I hear my tiny channel is entertaining people I haven't even met. Happy to have you on board 😀
Can you see yourself revisiting Yorkshire in the future? Also, do you reckon you'll be doing anymore UA-cam content once York review has ended?
I have a pretty big video backlog - it's a lot easier to record something than to edit it! Not all of it is York Review though. Some of the other stuff is in/near Yorkshire, but the content is closer to LEJOG than York Review. In fact, the next thing I upload will be one of these...
Well done, enjoyed these, hoping to cycle this soon .....👍
