River Valley Dulcimer Club Play Music on the Porch 2024
The River Valley Dulcimer Club got together to celebrate "2024 Play Music on the Porch Day". The North Star Restaurant in Blue Rock Ohio shared their porch with us. Afterward we ate well, they have great food! No video for the first 24 minutes, long story, LOL

Amazing... my friend just let me try her instrument and last night I played this first song Across the Western Ocean fron a Celtic book by Joe Collins. Now I'm hooked. So I was looking up videos to really take in all the information I can find and here you are with this video.
Thanks for uploading this video Donna. The group played so well and also such a wonderful diversity of songs. I enjoyed the singing parts, too. Dave
Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing , I truly enjoyed this. Love when others share their musical talents and spread their JOY!❤
What an amazing event!!!
good to see my friends making music and having a wonderful time.
So sorry to have missed this gathering, Hope Tish and Greg will host again in 2025.
Looks like everyone had a great time. We need more of this type of fun in these crazy times. I recently adopted a bowed psaltery. Poor thing's been badly abused. Someone cut through all it's strings, bridge saddle rod is gone, it has no bows. So I'm giving it some long overdue TLC, will try my hand at bow making along the way. It's now officially a part of my collection of musical instruments that compete for my time/attention. All of which I play well enough to fool others into thinking I know what I'm doing. This one will not be an exception. Once recovered from it's trauma, we will spend time together learning how to bring smiles to those we meet. Also, hope to move to WV within a year. So maybe I'll be a part of this event in the future.
Very useful instruction, thank you. Just got my first bowed psaltery. But it will require some TLC before I can start playing it. The wife of it's previous owner got pissed at him about something, cut through all the strings. It then got passed around like an unwanted child. The bridge insert piece fell out somewhere along the way,, bows are missing, long gone. But the psaltery itself has now found it's way to me, will become a part of my musical collection. I'm researching what I'll need to know to bring it back to life. What to make the missing bridge piece out of. What strings are best and how to correctly install them. How to tune and play it once it recovers from it's trauma. Bows are not locally available, so will need to find or make a set of those. Think my autoharp tuning wrench will fit the tuning pegs, if not, that too goes on the list of required items for it's resurrection. A little time and patience, it will live again.
Beautiful, thank you for sharing!
❤
Hell yeah! Fantastic! Thanks for sharing that.
Thanks for posting this song by Donna. Yes, it was great to be in the room when she sang it and she does have a beautiful voice. Dave

Sounds great! Thanks for posting!
Thanks Donna. I haven't heard a dulcimer group play Lady Mary in a long time. Dave
Hi! I'm your neighbor over here in East Central Indiana. We have a small group called Chords of Friendship. Loved and appreciated your music and the talent you displayed! Thanks so much!
Thank you for the awesome lessons!
Not bad!
considering no place to put the camera and all the traffic noise I thought it was good and fun to listen to!
I think it is beautiful and I'd love the idea of playing on the Cracker Barrel porch. Great job y'all
Great music!
Thank-you! I have just bought a vintage psaltry off .... The seller had no idea what it was apart from the paperwork it came with. Due to you lessons, I had the courage to buy it, as I knew, I could have your help.
Thanks for posting, Donna Dave

Great job arranging and leading the music Tish. Dave
Thanks for recording and for posting parts of the symphony, Donna. Everyone worked so hard and we all had a wonderful event. Love to all that were there and to those that couldn't make it to this one.. We will be having the 12th in 2023.. Stay tuned for updates for new venue and date...
Thank you! Wish I could have been there but am playing along from here anyway.

It was wonderful to see everyone after two missed years.....
Well done Tish. Thanks for posting, Donna. Take care Dave
Beautiful!
Love it!
Is it okay to replace all the steel strings with bronze wound ones...what gauge would you recommend for your soprano psaltery? Tune an octave lower also? Thanks for the videos, you guys are amazing.
Well done Everyone. All of the bare feet in this video might mean it was still cool enough to celebrate music without a bucket of water or other means to not overheat. Dave
Loved it!!
Lovely.
