Ilusa
Alright, this is the last snippet from that album I wrote back when I was 15 - 17 years old.... And God damn I wanna slap my self for not thinking about who was going to play this (me). I tried my best to nail it, but some parts were just too tough. Had to simplify a bit and make some adjustments. You will probably spot a few mistakes in there 🤷 But hey, that's part of the journey, right?

    Hi there! How do you like the keybed?? I’m thinking about buying this controller or one with PHA4 from Roland. What do you think?

    • @Andurst
      @Andurst Місяць тому

      The keybed itself is super "felty" ... I think it's an acquired taste. If you're talking about the key action and weight of the keys... then that's also an acquired taste haha. I'm sure you've read that the keys are heavy weighted. I think they should be called EXTRA HEAVY weighted. I tried this same KeyLab before buying it and compared it to other controllers, synths, and electric pianos in the store... and the KeyLab's keys were still excessively heavier than any other keyboard. I thought maybe the heaviness of these keys were supposed to be from the highest end acoustic pianos, pianos I've never played before... So I bought it. It felt weird at first and everything was a little harder to play. My fingers would get tired easily...but after a month or two of playing, it feels completely normal to me, it even feels "right", like THIS is the way it's supposed to feel. Now every "heavy weighted" electric piano I play feels extremely light and even "plasticky/cheap". Four months ago I had the chance to play three Steinways an let me tell you.... Their keys were lighter than the KeyLab 88 Mk-ii. So.... I don't know what Arturia was thinking when making the keys so heavy...but now it's just normal to me. It feels like I'm playing a real instrument. I also feel like because of the super "felty" sensation of the keybed, the action is not as fast-springy as other keyboards.... But again, that's something your fingers will get used to. Long story short... The KeyLab 88 Mk-ii will make your fingers work, get stronger, and faster... and it won't take a long time for you to see the results. I also feel like because of the extra work your fingers have to make, you build a stronger connection with the instrument and therefore with the music you're playing.

    Does the key sound like a high baritone or low tenor key. It almost sounds like you are a tenor again who sings some high baritone songs. When you were with Tenelli you started as a lyric tenor and switched to dramatic baritone .

    • @Andurst
      @Andurst 8 років тому

      I know, right? It's a tiny bit confusing at the moment. Yes, I started as lyric tenor with maestro Tenelli, then we decided to switch to a dramatic baritone technique. My voice grew in a matter of weeks, but maestro Tenelli had to move out of the country and I moved to a different city. Now I'm taking lessons with maestro Winston Noren from the Mount Royal Conservatory in Calgary, Alberta Canada. He is an AMAZING baritone who has given me techniques I never knew about... a more baritone, centered approach with different techniques. My voice has lighten up dramatically and my range control has improved a lot.... bringing now the question... Am I a baritone or a tenor? I don't know, I've developed a nice tenor tone but my range is still not high enough to be one. My teacher says I will probably be a tenor in the future, it's just a matter of practice and different approaches.

    • @bradleymonroe6443
      @bradleymonroe6443 8 років тому

      Oh I see. I am a vocalist who started as a baritone in high school and after I graduated I moved up to being tenor who is trying to work on how to sing the middle notes and upper passaggio notes from C#4 to Gb4 as well as try to get up from A4 to C5 in full voice. I maybe a lyric tenor but wanted to add dramatic tenor technique to lean towards the spinto tenor and heldentenor repretoire including the Puccinian and Wagnerian material. Does the dramatic tenor and heldentenor technique use both the baritone centered and tenor centered approach knowing that the dramatic tenor and heldentenor both have the baritone color but the squillo and acoustics of a tenor? Any advice about this?

    • @Andurst
      @Andurst 8 років тому

      I think it's extremely important to get that centered chest voice that a dramatic baritone has, that's your bass/support/root/strength to be able to handle the extremely difficult technique that a tenor has. Remember that we all (men) are natural baritones and that the tenor timbre is created by pushing our bodies to " unnatural" placements. Once you feel your chest game is on, in which you have to let go of your tenor technique and head voice, THEN you can start incorporating your old tenor technique.. slowly, try to bring those two worlds together and you'll hear that nice dramatic tenor color coming out. So, to answer your question, yes, I believe they use the same approach. Just make sure you take your time to really feel comfortable with just your chest technique and then just with your head voice technique, once you have control over them, try to bring them together.
