Hollardops trilobite preparation sequence - part 5 (final)
Переглядів 3,6 тис.2 роки тому
Final stages of the preparation. Check out the amazing details on this well-preserved Hollardops. The very last step of the preparation is done by carefully microblasting the specimen at low pressure, to remove the last remaining particles of the stone matrix. Fine details are revealed in the final images by coating the trilobite with ammonium chloride sublimate, a standard technique in the ima...

Another taphonomic surprise as it turns out that the head of the trilobite has split open, changing the orientation of the genal spine. We proceed to reveal the beautiful eyes of this trilobite, and show some of the tools that are used. Curious to see what's coming next? Join us as we continue this preparation live, this saturday @ 10:00 UTC 1 on this channel. (music by Bensound)

Hollardops trilobite preparation sequence - Part 3
Переглядів 4,3 тис.3 роки тому
How long does it take to prepare a trilobite? This is a question we get asked a lot. The answer is, it depends. Some trilobites only take a couple of hours, others, 100 hours. At Trilolab, we like to take our time for every preparation, in order to preserve as much details as possible. Working slowly and meticulously makes for a meditative experience, and a good preparation needs patience and t...

Hollardops trilobite preparation sequence - Part 1
Переглядів 4,6 тис.3 роки тому
This is the first part of a fossil trilobite preparation series of a very well preserved Moroccan trilobite that we are working on in our lab as we speak. High-quality preparation allows us to study these fossils in all their intricate detail. We will go live with this preparation on our PaleoTime event on March 13, 2021! Get a front row seat as we try not to damage this specimen ;-) If you dig...
Beautiful job! It must be nice, working with a matrix of such great color contrast with the fossil itself?
"Something the Lord Made"...
What a very wonderful preparation and species!!! Those eyes!!!😃 O, wacht, ik zie nu pas dat jullie Belgisch zijn! Mooi werk!
Is your prepping tool just a very fine steel needlepoint or does it emit a fine air abrader??
It’s a metal point, no abrasives coming out.
Хорошо сохранился! В Эстонии один хлам.
How many hours did it take to clean? Thanks
Awesome
One time when breathtaking is actually accurate! WOW!
hmm my Hollardops trilobite also is disjointed but has all its parts on the matrix
Woooow….woooow !!!!!
Stunning detail 🤘
Fantastic, great job!!!
Thank you so much for this series. I've always wondered how fossils were freed from surrounding stone but never thought to search UA-cam for video. I was so delighted when your channel popped up.
Good job 👍👍
amazing piece⛏
Outstanding
Absolutely beautiful
Dear friend, thank you for your hard work! Please post this video in parts of 2-3 hours. I really want to watch it with translation, but the system does not allow longer videos to be translated.
hey guys, this is sooo good. i am just starting to prepare. i wish this had english subtitles :( anyways thanks
Thanks for sharing your experiences!!!!
Wonderful!
Tof filmpje!!!!
stunning :-)
Mooi filmpje!
Very nice work and video
This event will be mostly in Dutch, but feel free to join in and ask questions in English or French!
Is that an HW-70
Yes it is, well spotted.
What are you using to clean with?
We use a selection of airscribes in combination with manual methods and sandblasting techniques. These videos focus on preparation with airscribes.
ok I LOVE your video's! I've been looking for something like your work so I could learn how to do such work. I live in Florida so I can mostly practice on limestone with tons of small shells embedded. Is it possible to purchase still embedded trilobites so that I can further my education? Your web site Trilolab.net is beautiful! Thank you so much for all of the work your group is doing.
Thanks! It is certainly possible to find Moroccan dealers that sell and ship unprepared trilobites.
nice :-)
superb video :-)
cool video. Perhaps you can also share info on the prepping material you are using.
Christophe, that will be covered in future videos.
@@trilolab4223 Thanks, keep up the good work!
Congrats, looks very professional.
Splendid work!
