The Quebec City Student Chapter of the Canadian Biomaterials Society (CBS-QCSC) aims to develop activities in the biomaterials field in the geographic area of Quebec City and surroundings.
The mission of the organization is to support and enhance student research and interest in the biomaterials field, and assist with meeting the objectives of the Canadian Biomaterials Society, as they relate to student research and education. This organization is not-for-profit and all activities are on a voluntary basis.

How Stereolithography Can Revolutionize the Design of Soft Polymeric Materials for Multiple Purposes
In this seminar, Jean-Marie Raquez discusses his work on stereolithography (SLA) known as VAT photopolymerization. It represents the cornerstone of additive manufacturing technologies by its high flexibility to create complex objects of high-definition into advanced applications (biomedical, energy harvesting, etc.). Thanks to these features, this lecture is thereby willing to unveil the design of programmable materials that can integrate “on-demand” several functions directly into a single material. A special emphasis will be made on temperature- and pH-sensitive actuators, ionically-conductive systems and structurally colored hydrogels during this lecture.
About Jean-Marie Raquez:
Jean-Marie Raquez, PhD in Polymer Science is a FRS-FNRS Research
Associate at University of Mons (Belgium) and a Scientific Leader at Materia
Nova Research Center in Mons (Belgium). His main areas are the chemical
modification and synthesis of polymer-based (nano)-composites issued from renewable resource using reactive extrusion processing. He has also in
charge of national and regional projects, programmes with industries and
European Projects (H2020, FP7). In the realm, he has more than ca. 130
publications in international journals, 30 personal communications at
conferences and is co-inventor of 9 patents. He co-edited 2 books and 5
book chapters.

A journey from the bulk solution to the liquid/air interface
Переглядів 3703 роки тому
In this seminar, Prof. Saman Hosseipour presented a didactic overview of the advanced characterization tools for protein (and other macromolecules) and their interactions with surfaces and interfaces will be the main focus of this lecture. A detailed characterization of proteins in the bulk solution and at different interfaces will be introduced focusing on a non-linear spectroscopy for studies...
Carbon dots - Imaging, Sensing and Beyond
Переглядів 6 тис.3 роки тому
In this seminar, Prof. Rafik Naccache presented a relatively new class of luminescent nanomaterials, namely carbon dots. Carbon dots, sometimes known as carbongenic dots, are carbon, oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen containing materials with the first two elements typically accounting for ~90% of their elemental composition. Moreover, they are typically water dispersible and can be prepared from a...
Can i make carbon dots from plastic waste ? How ?
Need to connect.
HOW CAN I FIND THE PEAKS
Happy to help. What do you mean by finding the peaks? Do you mean identifying elements in a survey spectrum or number of peaks (components) in a high-resolution (narrow) scan during curve fitting?
Dear Sir, Thank you for the wonderful explanation. Would you please let me know what the difference is between binding energy and work function? I would greatly appreciate it if you could clarify the difference.
Binding energy is energy required to remove photoelectrons from their orbital while (sample) workfunction is energy required to remove electron from material surface. There is also workfunction for the XPS instrument as well.
Very useful video, thank you so much
52:54 minutes shows a table of Ni 2 ,,,please how we can get that table ??
thanks for sharing ,,phd student from Hunan university .... i have a question plz ,,this EPs POSSIBLE FOR NOD CONDECTIVE MATERIAL? for example i have Zn and NiCop ? both possible to do or not ?
Could you explain further?
Very nice
Dude on the bottom is a robot or something...
