It sucks that most companies are making their programming only available to them now, which is understable! They are preventing data hackers to access the system and manipulate it. I'm going back to old cars after I'm done with my lease of my 23 GMC Sierra.

Hello, to try and make theft of the vehicle more difficult would pulling the "security gateway" or "diagnostic port" fuse prevent you from programming the key? I recently got my jeep stolen (don't know how the low life did it) and looking at making it more difficult to steal in future. Could you try that out and let us know? Appreciate any information!

Im new to all of this. To me- why can't i- the consumer-have the option of a one time- time limted- credential that allows me to make a key or make a pats repair on MY vehicle? Why do i need to be a part nastf org? Why do i need commercial insurance? This apears to be less about vehicle "stealing" and more about market control and removing competitors who dont play by nastf rules. I didnt see any auto manufacturers giving input here- why? All presenters here are 3rd party. Why do i need any of them to fix a pats issue on MY vehicle? Why cant I skip you- 3rd parties- and deal with the manufacturer directly? Better- why not work with the manufacturers on better security of their vehicles....? This appears to be a slim tip of the wedge to kill right to repair. everyone has a place of residence. And last i checked you can go to the hardware and replace your locks. All of those locks at a hardware store are coded the same- keyed different- why are we not up in arms over that?

Hi, great video. I was wondering if you could be of some assistance. I recently purchased a XTOOL D8W, and I love the tool. A friend of mine has a 2022 Chevy Silverado LT and I was trying to add a key to add a new key fob to his vehicle. He bought an original fob from the dealer. I tried following your video to program his fob but I was unsuccessful. I tried about 3 more times and again nothing. Can you tell me what am I doing wrong? Should I add a smart Key or do all keys lost? Please help

So will contractors without a company of their own be able to register to NASTF under the company they work for? (Of course they would run their individual background check) Since if not, it will turn so many valid locksmith out of business, for example, a company owned by an investor and operated by a managing contractor, which is only a registered agent to the company and has none of his own… (the company has all licenses and insurances needed)

I personally love the idea and support it in full. I remain aware that the scan tool manufacturers and distributors caused this issue by selling these tools to anyone who has the money. What's the purpose of security if it can be bought. I feel better after listening to Donny. NASTF may not be a government entity, but it operates in a quasi-public capacity. (Administrative) I have modified the offline D-1 form for residential and commercial locksmithing. So, with 100% clarity, I do a D-1 on everyone. I will also say that duplicate keys are commonly known today as "Add a key," but hardware stores usually only "clone" a key, which is not the same animal and is just about extinct with these modern prox keys and modern newest protocols. Locksmithing comes with great responsibility, even if it means not selling your service to anyone who is not entitled to your services. My hope is that we stop selling immo tools through eBay, amazon, etc.

"Bang bang upload a photo". Yeah right. Too many places don't have internet access for mobile mechanics. Many times it's not great in rural areas either. Requiring insurance, let alone million dollar insurance is really nobody's business. If someone is wanting to start up a business and do this honestly, you're making it impossible to do that. Especially in rural areas, it's impossible to meet your requirements. IMPOSSIBLE!

Yes this where I'm at took me months to get everything in place and jump through all the hoops and pay outlandish fees to local, state and federal governments to get this LLC started and not to mention the thousands and thousands of dollars spent on tools and equipment to do diagnostic work. The customers I have that can afford the repairs are starting express concerns about how costly it is becoming.hey thanks for letting me vent be safe out there.

Because of criminals it has always been make it harder for the honest person! This is no different and the end result will be that criminals will continue to steal vehicles. Reminds me of someone that shoots someone and so lets make laws against the honest person and take their rights away or at least make it more difficult instead of putting the blame where it belongs, aka the criminal!! Make our judicial system work! This whole thing doesn't consider rural areas one iota!!!

The green Star port for a 2018 Ram 1500 Big Horn is on the left side. I got the white plug that can fit into it by just plugging it into one of the empty slots, for my XHorse Key Tool Plus pad. It seems a lot easier than using the 12+6 cable that plugs into the FCA box , since getting to the FCA Box requires taking apart a bunch of stuff. Would you do the same?

buddy car thieves dont use locksmiths tools to steal cars; that is just what they want you to believe or what makes kind of sense to support the thesis; think about it, can you see a thief taking their time to lishi their target cars then wait 3-10mn to gain security access on a FORD, 12mn on a GM OR 16mn smart or immo box reset afterwasrds to steal a car? or 20-25mn GBOX2 calculation to get a 16digits passwords to AKL a benz without even taking into account disassembly to hook up to the ESL connector, fuse box and all that? they will get caught by then... this is not happening unless we are talking about real locksmiths progtramming an extra key so they can go back and steal cars they previously had requests for. REAL CAR THIEVES use tools that are way SUPERIOR to APP, IM508, KM100 or any of these tools; in fact, they are no thieves, they are hackers. one of my best friend 2021 TAHOE GOT STOLEN and within 5mn from his antitheft app notification, the car was half a mile away. When the car. NASTF target is to help DEALERS & Licensed locksmiths make more money by wiping out the so called bottom feeders but this has no effect on cars robberies

I %100 agree with the Pii because you're right we take a picture with our own phones and upload it and that photo is saved to our phone. It would protect us knowing that we don't have access to that once we upload it directly to our D1 because there are customers out there that do not want their information floating around, and I totally & agree & understand because I'm one of those!

If your key will start the car by holding close to the push to start button, then it probably isn’t reading the signal. I just solved mine by sitting in my car with the car off. Then I held the door lock button on the car door (driver side) for 5 second. Then I pressed the door lock button on the key fob (has to be pressed within 6 seconds) and it now works great. I can lock/unlock/remote start the car like usual now.

One thing that would be great is a VIN registration database through DMV that we could have access to. That way owner can be verified prior to going out. If it has been recently purchased we would just have to verify title or bill of sale. Just a thought I've had for a while.

Nastf should look into tool providers and not locksmith security pros... they should regulate this and not their customers - US professionals. Let NAstf be for profit and there will be better interest, and higher standards instead its just a middle business that is for some meat in between with small agenda and does not regulate security but record time frame of actions. As professionals and legitimate business in the feild and or brick and stone shop we are held responsible for what the manufacturing tool industries are not... dont you think its a bit weird? Good idea but not perfect, and here is the next thing coming... from china and different markets around the world where there is no regulatory body like nastf on their end... so who will hold accountable the tool providers on market... no one! Can't regulate that? Vehicles still have their flaws thru the shop owners end etc. This isnt going to stop anything. Plenty engineers are working on these tools on market and still no one cares at nastf about it since its operated as NON-PROFIT business type. Nastf must have bigger agenda for manufacturers and their regulations.

If you’ve been convicted for car theft you probably shouldn’t apply for a VSP with NASTF! 😀 I cant imagine the number of people that actually try this. I’ve been a part of NASTF for years and I can’t say it doesn’t add additional time to my job, but I know I have to have it to service my customers. I run a legitimate Locksmith business and I appreciate the opportunity I have to do so. Thank you for the video and everyone’s time in this. Very informative and much needed to debunk the rumors flying around in the social media Locksmith groups.
