You need to mic your amps directly. The sound will be different, it'll eliminate the room reverb that will be different from everyone else's and you won't have the sound of your strings interfering.

From Pete Thorns videos on his Suhr Sl68 the bright cap value being higher actually allows a bigger range of tone through so like highs and more high mids but then also the higher you go the low mids come through at low volume as well. When you turn up the volume it is basically making the cap get bypassed so if it's too bright at low volume for you, put a higher value cap on the volume instead

Both are great, but I like the top end character you were getting out of the Marshall. Maybe it's just an EQ setting difference, but the Friedman sounded darker. At the end of the day, you're choosing between Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate; just depends on what you're in the mood for. Great shootout!

I’ve been in the room with both many times and the Super has that more in depth 3d sound IMO. The Twin has it also but a firmer under the finegers response . This video makes it hard to hear the note separation in the Super Reverb

There’s one thing you’re doing wrong in this video and since you’re a guitar player you should know what it is. When watching videos like this I like to watch the players fretting hand and picking hand also, otherwise it can get boring. Turning your back on the camera is like Steve himself turning his back on the crowd during a show. Just tryin to help you improve your videos 🤓

I've always said that the SS100 is Friedman's best amp....especially the Ver 2. which has a spectacular plexi channel....super percussive. There's a really fine line between the two (as far as the video goes). It may be a little more obvious in the room. The Modded Marshall wins by a hair. Fun video to watch.

Different pairs of the same drum stick model will often vary greatly in weight. Unless you are an endorsee and can request specific weights this is just a fact of life

I got an old Made in Britain too. I run EMG 81 > SD-1 > DSL > Suhr I.R. > Taylor Danley's EQ'd SM57 Mesa OS impulse. It's the perfect death metal tone. Articulate, balanced, heavy and pleasing to the ears. Super easy amp to play makes technical riffs flow effortlessly.

I would put a 10H choke on it. It'll even out those peaks that really jump out and rip your head off. also it even out the overall frequency spectrum.

Cool video. I'm kind of going through this decision process right now with my '72 Superlead. My buddy had set it up with a 4700pf bright cap and 100k resistor to 4 ohm tap for the NFB when basically refurbished it for me. I found it sounded pretty bright and almost too aggressive like that. I really dug it playing alone but once I got in the room with the band I didn't like how it mixed with everyone so much. I switch the NFB to 47k on 8 ohm tap and it warmed up quite a bit but still to my ears it was a bit too much. I've since gone to a 500pf silver mica cap I had kicking around for the bright cap. Now we're getting there. I'm still gonna try an even lower value to see. I don't tend to run my 100 watt amp on 2 or 3. It's usually at 7 or more. They say the cap pretty much does nothing when the amp is cranked but I have to disagree. I cycled through a few using alligator clips with the amp at about 8 and I could hear the difference between caps. I might even end up going with no cap actually which is how the amp was before. I just turn the treble up higher and back off the bass a bit. There's no end to this tone chasing is there! Literally keeps me awake a night. Haha
