They should have moved to the San Joses Earthquakes stadium and added 12000 -170000 seats to that stadium. I would be one of the best in the Conference.

You're assuming that what you're seeing now is the finished product. It's not. The plan was always to rebuild seating on the east side of the stadium. A second phase will erect seating in front of the Athletic Center. It will most likely be much nicer, chairback seating as well. The funding to build the replacement seating will likely come from the estimated $14-15 million payout that the school will receive as part of the exist fees that the schools departing the MWC in 2026 will have to pay to the MWC.

This renovation was beyond stupid. It doesn't make sense to remove seats with prime views while leaving seats in the end zones, and it looks terrible on television broadcasts not having any fans along the sideline.

It's cute... but those (light?) spikes at the top make it look like it's in mid-construction. I am a K-Stater, but I have attended MANY KU games in Memorial Stadium (Topekan), but I loved it the old stadium the way it was (and after the last few upgrades). Nothing can replace the feel of history. I attended a game at Notre Dame, too... before they ruined it.

Northwestern will never compete with Michigan and OSU in terms of capacity. They're going for a premium stadium experience with higher ticket prices and lower maintenance. The newer stadium is smaller, but visually it's stands over the field and appears bigger and louder than the previous stadium, much like how the Seattle Seahawks do.

I was a season-ticket holder for 14 years gave up because I didn’t think they would ever do anything with the stadium. It was not worth going to that stadium instead of building a new stadium. They decided to refurbish that stadium. I still think they should that stadium put an indoor stadium that would hold 35 to 40,000 in its place everybody said I was crazy and stupid but what people don’t realize is the days of giant football stadiums are gonna go by the waysideeverybody’s talking about going smaller and smaller and indoors will be the future because of weather and how much it’s gonna cost to go to a game. I’m glad Vanderbilt finally did something but I don’t agree with their choice. They should bulldozed it and build an indoor stadium.

Most Jayhawks are not happy with the low 40k capacity but AD Geoff has said that demand can drive further stadium capacity and design allows it. An additional upper deck can add 6-7k north end zone and south end zone has endless possibilities. The stadium is going to be chair back seating versus bench which I like their push for fan experience. Would like to see them go to natural grass. I think players prefer grass as well. I think eventual capacity goes up over 60k

The latest trend in new or stadium renovations is downsizing the capacity for more premium seating and improve the stadium “experience” for the spectators, especially those willing to pay for it. Vanderbilt is also downsizing its stadium from 40K to almost 29K but will have more premium seating/suites/etc.

Moving to the Big 12 will be the easiest schedule CU has had in 15 years, The Pac 12 was a much harder schedule, especially since OU and TX left the Big 12. If CU doesn't win the Big 12, Utah will. Wait, you want them to take down the Colorado in the end zone? You must be insane, that's one of the things that sets Folsom Field apart from any other college stadium in the country. There is not even one bad seat in that whole stadium. You are so close to the field, that you can literally reach out from the front row and high five a player.

What a dumb video that completely ignores the context of the usual size of crowds Northwestern draws, the ability of the new stadium to better handle multiple different activities, the often hostile relationship with the residents of Evanston who don't want a stadium built at all, the changing nature of college athletics and the fact that most revenue comes through media rights deals instead of ticket sales... good lord. Just read the Wikipedia article folks, you'll get more out of it.

The average attendance at Northwestern games over the past 50 years has been just under 31K. During that time they've broken the 40K mark just 4 times and only once has it exceeded the capacity of the new stadium. Pumping half a billion dollars into increasing the capacity of a 100+ year old stadium they've never sold out...THAT would be a waste of money.

There's a reason they're making fewer seats, not more.... they can make the seating more than The Big House, but if you only get 35,000 on a good day, you'll look pretty silly in your empty stadium. Personally, I like their old stadium better - it was different from a lot of others.

I don't think they made a mistake. The old staduim looks reaaly bad, and it only held 47k. New stadium looks fantastic!

Please clear your throat prior to doing any video. Great effort on your behalf. You have NO idea what it cost to add seating to a stadium. Most of the stadiums have adequate seating capacity. Only Memphis, Boise State and SDSU are worthy of a power 4 invite.
