It was massive miss. If you want to grow the game, if you want the legends like Taurasi or Steward to be recognized, if you want the league to pay them better; you have to get the opportunities when presented. This was a great opportunity to do all that. But I guess they are worried that a young player ruins the "chemestry" when they win by 30 in the 4th quarter against Japan in the group phase (last olympic they beat them by 25)

The first point was BS. The WNBA has had rookies represent the Olympic teams before. The fact they only have players this year that have played in the league for 5 plus years is irrelevant. The NBA has also had rookies on the US squad as well. The REAL reason is that the vets have the pull and a lot of them don't like the attention she is getting. The playing time argument sounds like an excuse more than a reason. Again supporting the idea of this being a WNBA vets against her thing. This was a reason the WNBA came out with and it was created to make it seem more viable. As if they are doing her and her fans a service. As far as her not being good enough. She has shot poorly in plenty of games and turnovers have been an issue. Reminds me of Wembanyama from this year in the NBA. However the games either of them shine in they clearly look like the best players on the floor. She is good enough now and is the leading rookie of the year candidate, despite some of the bad games. Players do come at her harder than any other player. She gets little support from her teammates directed at her during the games. She is doubled on the perimeter and most of the league treats a Fever game like the playoffs. The "tough play" is more bush league than typical WNBA ball. A lot of people argue the "white girl" angle, but I don't buy that. They have had Ionescu, Stewart and Delle Donne for years and each have won the MVP. However none of them reached superstardom the way Clark has. There are obvious racist things directed towards her, and I am sure those other white girls have heard it said about them as well, but racism alone is not a major factor. Jealousy is the main factor, and the race aspect only exacerbates that for some, I'm sure.

Her stats are off in the WNBA not because she is playing against players that are “wiser and more talented.” It’s due to her getting mauled everytime she has the ball. 1, Rookies have made the team at least 3 times in previous Olympics.............2, putting on her on the team would allow her to see and learn for the next Olympics teams. 3 Catlin has already won golds in earlier international games. 4 You learn from experience not allowing her on the team shows they are not committed to future team unifications 5, its a special club and the rest of us are not invited.

The only reason she would have made the team would be for viewership, and those fans would have been disappointed in her playing time.
