1968er Ford F-250 im harten Daily-Einsatz mit Helge Thomsen
Yeah, there were mighty mouse cars laying down ass beatings to worked hemis in the 70s a stock one forget about it. Don’t ever let a lie get in the way of a good story though right?
1970 Charger = Legend
America is filled with embellished history. The Patriots of the revolutionary war. The old West cowboys. The recipe for what becomes legendary. From the gangsters of the Big Cities to the Hollywood stars of the far west. We as Americans love a good story. This young man told us one. It is a good mix of a little truth and a lot of conjecture. It makes a good story. And he has sold it. The car is now a legend and he has profited from the telling. It’s Americana. You got to love a good story Good on him. You don’t get mad at Billy the Kid. You don’t get angry at all the Hollywood Stars who’s lives were embellished to promote. Why get testy with the telling of the Black Ghost? After all. This is how most of us recall our stories of the past. So just enjoy the good tale.
🧢
The car was born and raised in the Motor City the proof is there if you like it or not can’t deny that..stop the negativity and enjoy a part of automotive history that cant replicated ever again
انها سياره رائعه جدا وقويه
A lot of hype for an above average, and pretty rare, car. A Hemi Challenger is fast, but not unbeatable. The son embellished the story all the way to a million dollar pay off at auction. I hope he can sleep nights. I couldn't do business that way.
Legendary lie made up by this guy and his movie production company
Peinlich
He’s cool af. I would really love to see them put out a Larry Wood art book .
Came here for the wisdom. Stayed for 4:30
Was verbraucht der in etwa so ?
This could be the biggest hoax of muscle car history. Sad really. Lets say the car was kind of a legend in the fathers mind but not truly that fast, given its rarity and that it had been in the family since new, the son is a jerk for selling it and not honouring what his father (maybe) said about not selling it.
If this car was a legend like you guys say then Super Shops , Jegs , Summit and all the speed shops in Detroit woulda closed their doors because stock cars are insanely fast like that Hemi Challenger😂 No need to buy go fast stuff .. Slicks ? what reason would that car need slicks ? Truly the guys who used to street race with hidden nitrous kits were more legendary then this ..
If windword ave was anything like Front St in Philly then this car didnt beat anyone.. Lets be real its a rare car but not fast.. Its stock...
Thats the slowest fast car I have ever seen..
Fake story
I was able to see this car twice in person
Completely fraudulent. Good job of selling it but this never happened. That car wouldn't have been close to the fastest cars on Woodward Ave in the 70s.
Your Dad and son must be thrilled you kept your promise.
So much for going down to a 3rd generation
The Black Ghost - The Greatest Scam In Collector Car History! ua-cam.com/video/V2LjOvcnBFU/v-deo.html
Thank you Larry, for all the cars you've designed.....❤
Laughable😂😂😂😂😂😂
Spare me. A legend no one EVER heard of.
Fabricated Legend.
Fabricated Legend.
A stock Hemi Challenger is a fun car to drive, but its a high 13 second car on a good day, and a low 14 second car on an average day - not exactly proper material for a street fighter at a time when there were legit 10 and 11 second street racers in the area. The story includes having a friend ride along during the races and telling Mr. Qualls when to shift. Supposedly the car has some imaginary mystery modification - that no one can identify because it is stone stock. God blessed the Qualls family with a million dollars at auction - due to the slickest auction muscle car advertising campaign ever: the son is a film maker who created some excitement around the car and managed to get the Black Ghost into numerous feature videos. 100% of Hemi Cudas and Challengers did some street racing, and they often got beat. In the '70's when I went to the street races in Los Angeles the Hemi cars were regarded as cars that worked best on a track with slicks. Yes, there were some solid Hemi street racers, not a bunch, but victory often went to lighter small block cars with deep gears - especially when running the street tires that were available at the time. I still like the Black Ghost, but can we please stop the charade that it dominated the streets.
Totally correct in your assessment.
The Black Hoax
Couple o family stories does not make it a levend
Scam, car is bone stock it could not hang with built cars that were actually on the street in the day.
What a scam of a story ... to all you non car people this sounds great but for all us car guys this is a bone stock well optioned hemi car .... maybe a high 14second quarter mile car but definitely not a Legendary street racer from that Era
Yup great car just because very few were optioned out like this but no way a stock hemi was winning any real street races.
@3:22 😂😂😂 wooooooo hold on boys !! I'm amazed the camera could keep up with that insane acceleration
What you didn't realize is that the car was actually circling the earth! LOL
@@husqv5147 😂😂😂
Yeah...that was lame.
Dont sell my fckg car. Sorry dad but i hyped it enough to find a million dollar sucker. Thanks.
the greatest grift ever.
The dad didn't say not to sell the car - he said don't give it away. The dad was asking $80,000 in the 1980's.
@@Thomas63r2 someone watched Uncle Tony
@@UcantBeSerious03 I watched the Black Ghost video with the son repeating that the father told him "Don't give my fn car away!" UT's video was just the icing on top of the bubble bursting that a completely stock Hemi Challenger dominated the streets. When I went to the street races in Los Angeles in the 1970's there were some strong running Hemis like BW's Daytona, but on the streets it seemed like anything with an L88 was the more likely victor.
We are witnessing the pinnacle of overhyped. Sure, it's a well optioned Challenger... But that's it. Selling for over $1 million and the BS story is so over the top. I'm so tired of the lies and "rare one of a kind" BS. And the cringe in this video is over the top. Everyone profits on this car except the gentleman who's name is being used for $$$...sad
you all say it's overhyped, then wtf is it in the national historic library? Hmmmmm???? There HAS to be some truth to this story.
You've all been had. I looked this car over at the auction. IT WAS STOCK!!!!! The battery was under the hood still. How can a 14.5 second car "own" the streets in Detroit and become a "legend".
You just watched uncle Tony’s garage eh??
lol, 14 second car back in its day. prolly high 14 or low 15 now. prove it otherwise. Every car has a story, it's just how you dress up the story. the buyer got suckered. son, dodge, mecum, new owner are all in on the scam for the next car movie.
Please make a movie about the man and the car. GQ. RIP
I hope you keep it 😢
he sold it
I saw this car at World of Wheels near Chicago. Was neat.
Cool car. But there’s just no way this stock car was ruling the streets.
@@ibrahim92002 nah, not in the days when the real guys had cars confirmed running in the 10's. This thing didn't even have headers. Slicks aren't making up that kind of power difference, since any real street racer is already running on slicks anyway.

@@ibrahim92002 lol, okay....sure. story is made up to sell the car and eventually make a movie. the son is a movie maker and a story teller.
@@ibrahim92002 Only by the story you were told.. 😁😁
@@leemp337 AND the dude says that he rode passenger and told him when to shift? Wtf is that? Gonna add another 200 pounds to your passenger seat because you cant read a tach? Cmon bro how does anyone believe this story haha
Wonder if it could beat Jimmy Addison's "Silver Bullet" GTX, or Joe Ruggirellos "Sudden Death" Mustang ll?
No this car is stock those cars were actual street racing legends
Hell no!
No, and no.
Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!
Isn't he selling it at Mecum or is it just being displayed? 🤔🤷♀
I think so, that’s what I’m reading about
I've been living in Detroit on my life my dad told me about this car I was a kid this is one of my favorite Detroit stories
Did he tell you about Mr DeLorean‘s DMC and it being capable of time travel too?
I would never ever sell my Dads HEMI CHALLENGER!
Can we get in contact with the owner so I can have him do a run video and hear him talk about the car
Literally said it's selling at mecum
Imagine the guy seeing the new EV
Piece of Americana, love this car
