Rainy Days and Mondays for Student Project

Rainy Days and Mondays by the Carpenters. Pop songs can be hard!! Rhythms are challenging. And Pop is not composed to support an amazing piano solo! It is composed for a beautiful voice and a band supporting the voice. But we can make pop songs pretty and expressive. We just need to play with the arrangement. FYI this is not a perfect performance. It’s a teaching demo!

A great composition showing wrist rotation and proper balanced voicings between the hands. Such a beautiful reflective piece.

One of my all time Claude Debussy favorites. A perfectly do-able piece for the intermediate level student. Love the rubato approach and artistic freedom this piece allows.

I believe this version was from "Minstrel Press". Although it's simplified I like it from a piano teacher's perspective. You get great experience with wrist rotation, AND you can play around with hand balance and proper melodic voicing. AND it sounds good. A win win!!
