Hi George and Jae been playing commander for years now and was thinking about giving Canadian Highlander a go any idea of what deck to start thanks

Hey Jae here, I also punted in the last game, in the brain storm I had back to basics and blood moon. I put the blood moon bottom forgetting that it kills urza's saga. In the end it didn't matter, but I wanted to add it here since George's was very visible. I really enjoyed the game, academy is one of my favourite matchups with this deck!

Hello, George here, huge punt at the end. Thought that evoke was an activated ability for some reason and just didn't think it through, the game was still very good regardless.

Great stuff, really enjoyed this. Particularly liked the section where you analyse the decklists after drafting.

Fun fact: As Abrupt Decay has "can't be countered" on it, it will still destroy the target, even if you don't pay the ward cost.

hey folks it’s matt; just for those curious my points in this game was actually Time walk (6) Spell seeker (1) Natural order (1) Survival of the fittest (1) and intuition (1) i updated the deck list post this event and so the commentators got the wrong list! my fault i apologise for any confusion..

I think the games where one of the commentors was playing is more insightful, we can always infer with how players are thinking

In my defence, the comment about both players decisions mattering was also a reference to how I did in Game 1 as well. That's not fun, interesting magic either. Was mostly just hoping for a game 3 where we both had a shot at the win. Which we did so that was ace! :)

Calling James the canlander ringleader is now living rent free in my head - He's more like Canlander Dad to me! Also was maravalous to meet William, and Always fun to watch such a classic deck VS "New" cards .deck!

With the benefit of hindsight and more information it looks like you could've had a pretty good red deck supported by a few off-colour uncommons. I agree with the first-pick Loamspeaker instead of Electrostatic Infantry, but then leaning into Keldon Strike Team, Keldon Flamesage, Tori D'Avenant, Garna etc. That would've changed the direction Ash and Raghu would've drafted in too. Land is always challenging in these team drafts because there are fewer packs being opened and that definitely showed in your mana-base. Your three-way-split colours running off basics was always going to be rough so I think you needed to lean into two-colour sooner than you did. That being said, you got unlucky in the matches. You'd definitely have beaten me if you'd found your Heroic Charge or Skyrider sooner. Variance catches up with us all eventually!
