How do you get the font preview to be jumbo size? In your video, the font preview is large and the samples are easy to see. That's one of the long-term problems with Affinity. The font size on the panels and in the font preview is too damn tiny!

Not a good idea to use opacity to establish a colour. It does not transfer well when converting to pdf (vector). For pdf rasterised it does not matter but rasterised transparency always look "grainy".

This tutorial is just what I needed. Thanks a lot!! Very clear and to the point. More, please! I am editing a really big non fiction book. Learning about sections and shortcuts is a life saver. I would love to know though, if , when I break up my book into sections as you explain somewhere, each of these sections (=files) will maintain their own independet "sections"? Basically I need to have "sections": like "part 1,2,3 "etc. and within each section I need chapters. Is that possible?

Good video. I'm always open to looking at new software. Right now, though, I'm using Word for my novel, and -- as I'm now approaching 160,000 words -- I'm starting to notice that lag that you mention. As for forgetting names, I'm old fashioned, and like Dramatis Personae, with thumbnail descriptions. I bookmark and hyperlink the names to "first mention" in the book. I also like Tables of Contents with titled chapters. I did the same bookmarking and hyperlinking there, to help me get around the document.

You can actually structure the whole Series/book thing in the Templates section, so you just add the series or book folder, and everything inside it is also added. That will make creating a new book (or series) a lot easyer.

Boa tarde. Assim vinha-lhe solicitar se me poderia ajudar a fazer o Indice (sumario). Certo da sua melhor atenção, apresento as minhas desculpas, mas não sei inglês razão de me dirigir ao Senhor em português. Grato do coração.

One of the other great things about Scrivener is the ability to link all your notes/info directly to relevant scenes (this include character bio, loctions, history, magic systems, lore, etc) . Then you don't have to leave the scene to go to look up information, you can just open it in the side bar (for me it is on the right side of the screen) and you have both the notes AND your scene open at the same time. It is a great application. I choose to keep each series I work on in a different file, but all the novels in a series will be in that one file. It adaptability to each person's own way of organizing and working is what makes it what I believe to be the best writing application out there.

  • @RichardJBarbalace

New to Scrivener, so I am wondering why you cannot compile just a section of the Manuscript, say Novel 1, instead of setting up a collection manually for this purpose. In my version (Scrivener 3 on Windows), you can select a portion of Manuscript (which you could rename to Series) to compile (say, all of Novel 1). It's definitely useful to organize and have all the research information available for a whole series, but it's unclear why using a collection is better. Was this feature not available previously? Is there some other reason to use a collection for compiling?

Hey R.L. (gives you an air of distinction) Anyway with this video help I have been able to work styles in Publisher 2. My page size is 4 in by 6 inch. I have flowed in my material. I usually try and create a booklet and self-publish not trying to make millions on amazon or anything like that, Just self print these for local consumption. Anyway when I go to print and create booklet it goes for a scosh and then I get a Print workflow error and stop. Any ideas?
