How to wrap any meat to last forever and prevent freezer burn!
Переглядів 96 тис.5 років тому
Quick video on how I recommend everyone wraps meat for long term storage in a freezer!
You should’ve washed your hands after touching the meat. Good job.
Thanks buddy!
I’ve never used the wrap under. Great job!
Good job explaining and demonstrating this process, Skyler. Thank you.
I watched three of these instructional videos and this was the first that explained which side of the freezer paper to use and had so much detail. Great job!
Thank you young dude I sure needed to know what to do with my pork picnic shoulder now I got it cut into stakes so it will not freeze 🥶 burner Biden nomics isn't working for me at all 😢 God bless you & America and Israel 😎
Thank you I been throwing meat out left and right will follow up on your idea
Thank you Appreciate the Information
Great idea. Thank you Sharing.. Good luck
Meat, the forever Christmas present 😂 thank you so much for the advice
Thank you for demonstrating this. Appreciate it. 👍🏼👍🏼
Its bettee idea to put freezer paper to meat and cling wrap over frezze paer to make it air tight
Why? Using the cling film first seems to be better at minimising air.
Do the boulder mountains north of meridian peak get pressured pretty hard by people?
Thank you!
I found things that I bought 6 months ago, so this morning I just threw out a 1/3 of the food in my freezer, and I'll throw out at least a 1/3 more the next time I head down to the garbage bin.
What's the longest you've successfully saved a piece of meat in the freezer safely?
So far, the longest has been a span of six years. I had a roast that fell in the bottom of my chest freezer and I hadn't realized. I had a friend that had a steak that was wrapped with the same method and the steak was twelve years old. It still cooked up well and tasted good!

Thank you so much for the demo. I knew there was an inexpensive way to prepare food for the freezer without a foodsaver!! I wish more people knew your method. Where do you buy the freezer tape anyway? Thanks again.
I can usually find it in the isle with aluminum foil, freezer paper, and ziploc style bags. Alternatively, this tape on amazon would work. www.amazon.com/Scotch-Freezer-Tape-1000-2-PACK/dp/B00NRL6YGI/ref=sr_1_5?crid=J3BIG65N8HCJ&keywords=freezer%2Btape&qid=1701108500&s=industrial&sprefix=freezer%2Btape%2Cindustrial%2C124&sr=1-5&th=1
My mom always wrapped meat that way
Awesome information, thank you! I was thinking about buying a food saver but your method is just as good.
Glad it was helpful!
Interesting!
Halfway through I thought we were getting a tutorial on wrapping presents
I would argue it may just be one in the same! I consider it a gift to have meat in the freezer. (:
wouldn't a vacuum sealer be better?
good question! It definitely is a good option. In my experience, the method shown is more durable. Vacuum seal bags can get holes when moved relatively easy. This breaks the vacuum, allowing for air to cover the meat, which over time can cause freezer burn. However, with that said, vacuum seal bags are great for creating uniform packages that stack really easily. I prefer them for thin, delicate meats like fish.
What exactly does freezer paper do to help with the longevity? Thanks.
Prevents freezer burn. You know, that nasty 🥶❄️🧊ice that sticks all over your steaks, chops, chicken thighs? MmmHmmm. Alritey then! 🥩🍗🥓
Thank you for this video. I’m ashamed that I’m probably twice your age and needed a video to learn this. 😂😂 appreciate you sharing!
Are you flirting with him? 😅
@@alexiesdeoobar7671 wtf? No. What part of that would have come across as flirting to you?
Learning has no age limits
Your the man! Watching this from LongIsland
Thanks for the tips bro!
Can you wrap meat that's already frozen? I bought meat in bulk a week and a half ago, popped it in the freezer and noticed yesterday it's already got a little ice crystallizing on it because my bags aren't great.. Would love to just unzip the bags and use this method but wasn't sure if I could do it without thawing the meat first.
I’d thaw the meat a little, but it shouldn’t need to be completely unthawed. Just enough that the outer portions of the meat become unfrozen. After that, wrap in the plastic wrap. Could probably throw it back in the zip bags you already used if you’d want to reuse them.
Thankz from down under
Thanks for the informational video, I liked and subscribed, wish you lots of success in the field this season.
Why is he wrapping beef in his bedroom???????
Gotta beefsmile on the haters
👴 This is how we made all UA-cam videos back in the days..
You're fantastic! You are what us ladies call a unicorn. Keep putting out these videos. I know you have to be from the northwest. Right?
I've been doing it wrong all my life! So excited to try this, now just need freezer paper and tape ! Thanks!
That was the best video. With the price of meat 🥩 I like to buy family size cuz it’s cheaper but try to freeze in portions cuz it’s only me but always get freezer burn. Thank you my friend for sharing.
Excellent job! I’ve subscribed.
Very good, my mom always used plain old scotch tape when doing the final wrap
It's so refreshing to me to see someone your age learning good skills for survival. Great job! I knew that that was wild game, it's so dark and rich looking. I've seen and eating it many times. God bless and guard you all the days of your life. Jude, from Kentucky ✝️ 🥀🐴🇺🇲💚
Good advice!🥩Freeze it up!!
Good video, thanks brotha
thanks Skyler , Im an older guy and buy a considerable amount of reduced steaks chicken breasts , fish , pork chops, ect, I had a pretty good handle on freezing , in fact tried a bunch of different methods, there was still a little freezer burn here and there but overall pretty good , your method with the stretch wrap applied first to remove As much air as possible is a good idea, I always used the freezer bags but kind of hard to remove all the air, Im going to try your method, very pleasing to see such a young guy take an interest in this sort of food information thank you very much
Glad I could help! It’s amazing how much there is to be learned with food storage/processing. Pretty fun to always be able to develop new skills!
I go two times with the plastic wrap and then come in with the freezer paper then aluminum foil and mark it. Just a few days ago I ate some steaks that I had in the freezer for a few days after 1 year. Let me tell you they were GREAT!!! My friend told me to throw them away, lol. 1 year baby. Good luck and stay safe. 🥩👍👌
Great! Thanks! 😄
Thanks
Nicely done, nothing worse than taking things out of your freezer only to see freezer burn ruined it.
Add date on package
You didn’t wash your hands after handling raw meat !!!
Great job! Finding the tape is the hardest part at least in local stores.
Simple D.I.Y low cost things make a huge difference. Thank you
Wow, this is amazing.
This will not last forever .maybe 9 years .and that is really stretching it .the meat breaks down after years .it will look like moosh when cooked .maybe Jello
You’re probably right, definitely longer than it should be in a freezer though! 🙂 I’ve had stuff that was six years old gifted to me and it was still really good!
Why don't you just put the meat in a freezer bag? That's all I do, and I've never had meat or any other food with freezer burn.
I do sometimes! They definitely work. From my experience, I’ve found that they are easier to puncture when moving the frozen bags around, which then can allow air to get to the meat. The durability is the biggest reason I find this to be better, at least in my situation.
I have used freezer bags and find they not only still let air in (even when you suck or squeeze the air out) but they are more expense than just plain plastic wrap.
@@skylerarentgreat perspective thanks
Why would you want to keep meat "forever"? Just throw it away if you're never going to eat it. Outside of that, simple aluminum foil will keep meat, without freezer burn, for at least 3 years which is plenty long enough.
Truly I wouldn’t, it’s more that it can be done. I currently don’t have anything more than a year old, to my knowledge. In the past, however, I’ve lost a package in the bottom of my freezer for a while. The longest so far has been five years. Thawed, cooked, and ate just fine. I imagine aluminum foil could work, as you are creating a mostly air tight space around the meat. You bring up a good point. A person should make sure to be using meat they get. I just like to be able to lengthen that time period and protect the meat as best as possible.
It works fine. Been doing it for 40 years. Never been an issue - ever, and I raised a family of 7.
A Food Shortage is about to Hit America....Be Prepared
I am. I have all the wild game I need just waiting for me to harvest. Won’t be needing to wrap any meat for years and years. Neither will anyone else.
I am pretty sure when Skyler said "forever" it was just a figure of speech, meaning it will keep a long time. Also, plastic wrap is like 4 times cheaper than aluminum foil.
