Bizza Memories
Приєднався 2 лип 2024
Hi, I’m Chef Bizza and welcome to my channel where I hope my personal food memories and those of my family and friends get you inspired in the kitchen.
Growing up in the South, food culture is such an important part of my life…the tastes, the smells, and the emotions bring me back to moments in time that I want to recreate over and over again. If my family wasn’t at the table eating a meal, we were talking about it and planning the next one. Some of my happiest moments are cooking with my family while talking about our day and sharing a few laughs.
Before becoming a chef, I followed my passion for taking care of people, and spent 20 amazing years as a nurse and nurse practitioner. But after a great career, I decided to pursue my other passion - cooking! I took a big leap and went to culinary school. After graduating, I started food blogging as a way to share my food memories that are so special and dear to me. I hope you take this journey with me down food memory lane!

One of my favorite food memories during the holidays is opening up a Christmas cookie tin. When we would visit my Grandmother, she would always have several cookie tins that her friends would bring over for Christmas. I loved seeing what assortment of cookies were in the tin. I thought it would be fun to make my own Christmas cookie tin. So, follow along and see "What's in My Christmas Cookie T...

My favorite type of biscuit is one with lots of layers and is fluffy. So, I had to make my Great Grandmother's biscuit recipe. I wish that I had gotten to meet her because I think we would have cooked a lot together in the kitchen. To accompany my biscuit, I made a compound butter with herbs to generously spread on my hot biscuit and add another layer of flavor. Yum! I hope you get in the kitch...

Since I was a teenager, my family and I packed up the car with our tailgating spread and headed to Athens, GA. This has been a tradition for many years in our family celebrating with friends and fellow fans. The atmosphere during a tailgate is such an infectious and unforgettable experience! The energy coming from the fans' celebrating together and preparing for the big game definitely will get...
Desserts for Thanksgiving

I had the honor of making desserts for Thanksgiving this year. Such a treat! Lulu (my Mom) usually makes the pecan pie, which is a family recipe that she has been making for years. Also, my sweet nephew asked me to make fried apple pies which we had during an apple festival. He has been thinking about them ever since. I had so much fun making these desserts reliving memories from prior Thanksgi...
Linguine and Clams

Linguine and clams is a dish that will always have lots of nostalgic memories for me. My husband surprised me with this dish when I returned back home from a girl's trip. He had set up a romantic table setting along with a crackling fireplace on the TV with sound effects. I hope you make this dish for your significant other and share lots of memories together. Enjoy!
Pappardelle Al Radicchio

Have you ever had a dish that you wanted to eat again and again and wanted to try making? That dish for me is Pappardelle al Radicchio. On a girls' trip with my mom and sister to Italy, we found this gem of a restaurant in Venice. The owner, dressed in a chef’s apron, still works in the kitchen where you find his traditional dishes. This hearty pasta dish had a creamy, rich sauce with a slight ...
Chocolate Eclairs

This is one of my favorite childhood nostalgic desserts. This dessert is even more special as the pate a choux recipe is from my great grandmother’s recipe book given to my Mom when she was a teenager. I thought a lot about the generations that made this recipe and I felt so happy being in my kitchen making this too. I hope you make this delicious sweet treat with your family and friends. Enjoy!
Lulu's Crab Cake Eggs Benedict

Lulu's 70th birthday was coming up and I wanted to make it memorable. Throughout my childhood, she went above and beyond for us to make our birthdays special. So, I wanted to do the same for her. She loves eggs benedict, but I wanted to add a crab cake to take it to the next level. Most importantly, the birthday dish must be paired with my Mom's favorite drink, a Bloody Mary! It was a success a...
Futomaki on the Train

The first time I had Futomaki was 10 years ago with my husband. We traveled on a train to meet with my husband's family pastor for premarital counseling. It’s safe to say that we passed the marriage test! When leaving to go back home, the pastor and his wife packed us a to-go box filled with Futomaki. It was a roll filled with porky floss (as my son calls it), Japanese rolled omelet, pickled da...
