Bizza Memories
Приєднався 2 лип 2024
Hi, I’m Chef Bizza and welcome to my channel where I hope my personal food memories and those of my family and friends get you inspired in the kitchen.
Growing up in the South, food culture is such an important part of my life…the tastes, the smells, and the emotions bring me back to moments in time that I want to recreate over and over again. If my family wasn’t at the table eating a meal, we were talking about it and planning the next one. Some of my happiest moments are cooking with my family while talking about our day and sharing a few laughs.
Before becoming a chef, I followed my passion for taking care of people, and spent 20 amazing years as a nurse and nurse practitioner. But after a great career, I decided to pursue my other passion - cooking! I took a big leap and went to culinary school. After graduating, I started food blogging as a way to share my food memories that are so special and dear to me. I hope you take this journey with me down food memory lane!

NEW! Turkish Pide Bread
While living in San Francisco during a travel nurse assignment, I volunteered on my days off to teach an immigrant family from Turkey how to speak English. Before leaving their house, the Mom would always send me home with a beautiful flatbread that she made that day. This memory has always meant a lot to me. It was her way to say how much she appreciated me through food. That's my favorite way to show people how much I care too! I hope you make this delicious bread with your family and friends.

Hot Pot
Переглядів 5779 годин тому
During the holidays or get-togethers, my husband’s family and I started a hot pot tradition years ago. We gather around the table with chopsticks in hand and dive into a pot filled with an assortment of hot pot ingredients-fish balls, tofu, sliced pork, and mushrooms. You must dip your delicious treats into a dipping sauce made of minced scallions, garlic, cilantro, soy sauce, and sacha sauce (...
Fish and Chip Butty
Переглядів 83621 годину тому
My friend, Rita, and I took a trip to a beautiful, coastal town in England called Sidmouth. This is where I had my first fish and chip butty. I’m always in search of the best fish and chips while on vacation with my family. This particular dish sealed the deal for me as the best one so far. The chips are sandwiched between two pieces of buttered white bread. Of course, you must add some ketchup...
Thanksgiving Roasted Chicken with Mashed Potatoes
Переглядів 516День тому
This Thanksgiving meal brings back a lot of nostalgic memories for me. I was working as a travel nurse during the holiday and I couldn’t go back home to visit my family. Knowing that I was going to be alone, Deidre (who became one of my best nursing friends), invited me to have dinner with her family. It meant so much to me and I felt like a part of the family that day. Every year, I think abou...
Picnic in the Park
Переглядів 4714 днів тому
My husband and I just started dating when we decided a perfect day date would be a picnic in the park. So, I packed our picnic basket with a homemade steak sandwich that I knew he would love along with some other treats. When we set up our picnic spread, we were greeted by some ducks that were very hungry. They loved the sandwich just as much as we did! I hope you pack a picnic with this delici...
Beef Stroganoff

The first time I ever made this dish was when I was visiting my Grandmother during the summer. We usually spend most of our time cooking together in the kitchen, but I wanted to impress both my Grandmother and Uncle and make this dish. Let’s just say…the meat was pretty tough, but they both told me how great it tasted. I’ve since tested my recipe and I think this one is the winner. I hope you g...
Fried Vidalia Onion Rings

Vidalia is a small town in Georgia where I grew up and home of the Vidalia onion. If you’ve never had this onion, you are in for a treat! They are sweet and can be enjoyed raw, grilled, baked, or fried. Basically, they are good anyway you cook them. During the springtime, there is an annual Vidalia Onion Festival that is packed with lots of fun activities. One of my favorite food memories was d...
Welcome Party Marshmallows

When my husband and I got married in Savannah, we wanted to have a weekend full of fun events. Most of our guests were traveling from out of town, so we decided that a welcome party would be a great way to start off the wedding weekend. My husband really loves fire pits, so we thought it would be fun to have a s’more station for our guests. My Mom graciously volunteered to make homemade marshma...
My Version of Romesco Sauce
Переглядів 7228 днів тому
This is probably one of my favorite sauces to make and the most versatile. You can use it as a spread, dip or an addition to any protein or veggie for a burst of flavor. I made this sauce for the first time in culinary school after having it at a Spanish Tapas restaurant in Asheville, NC. I’ve since made it for my family during the holidays and dinners with my friends. I hope you make this sauc...
Brown Paper Bag Fried Chicken
Переглядів 160Місяць тому
My Mom was in the final stretch of her pregnancy with us (me and my twin brother, Daniel) and she was craving fried chicken. She heated up the shortening in the cast iron skillet and put the chicken in the brown paper bag. Before she could put the chicken in the skillet, her water broke! I guess fried chicken has been a favorite of mine for a good reason. I’ve always enjoyed as a child watching...
Pumpkin S'more Cupcake
Переглядів 2 тис.Місяць тому
When it starts to become fall, I think about these cupcakes and the memories surrounding this special recipe. My family and I take an annual trip during this season to pick apples and pumpkins. We always have to stay somewhere so my husband can build a campfire for roasting marshmallows and just enjoying the outdoors. My kids love s’mores, so I thought it would be fun to create a fall-inspired ...
Beef Noodle Soup (Niu Rou Mian)

This is hands down one of my favorite Taiwanese dishes. During my first visit to Taiwan with my husband and his family, I was greeted by his aunt (āyí) with a big bowl of Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Chris’ aunt is famous in the family for making this soup. I remember thinking if this is my introduction to Taiwanese food, I’m in for a really flavorful, culinary journey. This soup has a rich bone...
Marinated Artichokes

This was one of my favorite things Lulu (my Mom) would make for us growing up and plus it got us to eat our veggies. I remember we used to huddle around a single artichoke pulling off the leaves to eat and eagerly wanted to get to the best part, the artichoke heart. Lulu would slice the heart in pieces and we would dip it in a lemon mayonnaise. This recipe brings me right back to childhood! It’...
Heirloom Tomato Galette

During the summertime, my Dad would go to our backyard to pick his prized tomatoes, Better Boy, which are his favorite. He had quite a greenthumb! I’m not sure what he did to them, but I still remember how juicy and sweet they tasted to this day. During one of the summers, I think I had tomato sandwiches with mayo for probably one week straight. After graduating culinary school, I wanted to sho...
Cafeteria Style Mac and Beef
Переглядів 143Місяць тому
My husband grew up eating mostly Taiwanese food at home, which he loved, but he craved American food. The cafeteria at school was one of the places he got to experience this food. One of his nostalgic meals was the infamous Mac and Beef. Of course, it must be topped with lots of Kraft parmesan cheese in a shaker! I think I brought back some fond memories when making this dish for him. It was ni...

What if yr allergic to wine what can you recommend
You could substitute with a vinegar like apple cider. That would add a nice acidity to replace the wine. Thanks for the question!
Yum! My mouth is watering!
