Known for its beaches and idyllic lakeshore towns, Lake Michigan can also be dangerous.
On average, about 88 people have drowned in the Great Lakes each year since 2010. About half of those typically occur in Lake Michigan.
Meteorologist Will Haenni met with Dave Benjamin, co-founder of the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project, so he could demonstrate how you can get out of various dangerous currents on Lake Michigan.
