Canada
Приєднався 9 гру 2016
Hutchison House - located in downtown Peterborough, Ontario - is a living history Museum offering a glimpse of life in Ontario in the 1800s. An estimated 7,000 people visit the museum each year for guided tours and other special events.
Through the year, the public is invited to enjoy Scottish Teas during July and August, monthly heritage lunches during the winter months, and many other activities for all age groups.
The museum is wheelchair accessible to the terrace, the historic 1840s open-hearth kitchen, bookshop and an accessible washroom. Although the upper floors are only accessible by stairs, visitors can enjoy a virtual guided tour of the upper floors.
At Hutchison House, we regularly host events that are open to the community. For more information about upcoming events, consult our Events Calendar or contact us for more information.

Wait, I always thought the Hutchison House was the same as the Baby-makers Home? This the same one that ...The HCAAS ran Hutchison House from 1920 until the late 1940s - Hutchison House, Browning Road, Leytonstone. Babies-home? Same place or different?
Thank you Ken Brown. Fascinating information about Robert Romaine, and especially interesting to me as I am researching the Crosskills of Beverley, Yorkshire.

Very interesting! Thank you! Stories like this make me feel grateful that we live in a time where a diagnosis of ulcers isn’t a death sentence.
I like your channel!! 💙 Keep the content coming. Do you know of promosm?! You should use it to promote your videos.
Thank you for this opportunity to discover a little but more of Peterborough past history. Maybe another topic of interest might be of Peterborough Streets .... beginning with old Peterborough.
What was the name of the corner where the accident happened? I couldn't quite make it out. Thanks
If you are referring to the accident where Fleming hit his head the little village was called Coulter's Corners (or present day Manilla)
What a great summary. So informative of the dynamics within the family and worthy of much praise and recognition in Canadian history. I am a big fan of Roughing it in the Bush that I found quite soulful. You may want to consider doing another video to talk about The Fur Trade Letters of Willie Trail, which is a profound account of the life of Canada's Voyageurs and Fur Traders. It is among Canada's best and most informative early writings in my opinion.
Well done Erin. So informative and lots of information that I can now use on giving tours. Thank you!
Fabulous subject matter but the commentary on this is WAY too rushed. Slowing it down, and speaking with some vocal dynamics would make these stories far more engaging.
I found Rob’s talk fascinating!!!! It’s astonishing to learn that Peterborough had so many cinemas, and that one of the first films shown was by the Lumiere Brothers! Thank you Rob and I look forward to more of your talks on this wonderful subject.
Fantastic. So much fascinating detail and humour to boot. Thanks Rob.
so enjoyable and informative - well done brother
What great research and fascinating storytelling - great work dad!
Fascinating stories and a look into Peterborough’s cinematic past! Wonderful presentation!
Thank you for making this video!
