Saturday 8th was a day of "Firsts for this season". Saw my first swallows, saw my first grilse jump clear of the water and caught my first fish. Three fish in total two smaller sonaghan and this 17 inch sonaghan which I thought to be a grilse. Great fighting fish for their size. Ran a train of three Duck Flies tied by Frankie McPhillips.

My first seatrout of the year caught on Glencar Lake last Wednesday 29th. About 1.5 lbs. A lovely fresh run fish after the recent heavy rains.

Lough Melvin on the 28th September, 2018. Mark McCormick's first time to fish Lough Melvin and he catches a 13 inch sonaghan in Rossinver Bay.

Finnock caught and lost at the net on Glencar Lake Saturday 28th September. Near flat calm conditions did not help fishing.

Best small fish of the day (Wednesday) on Glencar Lake not quite 12 inches. Hard work as weather conditions were not great needed a bigger wave, weather forecasters got it wrong with regards the wind strength. Assumed with the recent rain that sea-trout and grilse would have made it up the Drumcliff river none seen today. Beautiful spot to fish.

Third cast today (August 1st) and into a 12" sonaghan. Some great fishing with good fish moving to the fly and a fresh salmon head and tailing through my flies. Caught one other sonaghan and lost one at the boat. Noticed where the dirty spate water was running from the Ballagh and Glenaniff that mayflies were hatching. Swallows were going crazy.
