Wow great setup guys saved travels gage you a thumbs up n subbed
Im interested in the Cricket. I do have a '23 4Runner and have some curiosities- does the Cricket have any significant performance impact on the 4R? Im looking mainly for excessive fuel consumption, aerodynamic effects ( as in crosswind ) and any other impacts it would have. Im not unfamiliar with towing, load distribution, drag/weight etc. Im just wondering how this trailer does.
4Runner and Cricket is a good match and drives well together without any significant driving characteristics change. They are very similar in height so you don’t have so much wind resistance but your MPG will still go down to 15 on highway and this is normal for most towing situations. Get a good brake controller and you should be good to go. Good luck with your search!
@@heyBurt Thanks Dude. Travell Well
Carrying it topside up gave me the worst wind noise for MY car. lol I had to flip it upside down.
Music was a distraction for me..
how much this?
Did you go back to a NuCamp?
@@theoutdoordad7395 yes I did. I missed creature comforts more than I thought. Having more space and wet bath were missed during my time with cricket.
@@heyBurt thanks! How’s the quality control compare between the two? Enjoy your camper!
Great video/ what are your thoughts on Taxa quality vs NuCamp? Kindness and blessings to you!
@@theoutdoordad7395 Tab400 is more complex and feature loaded trailer with much more creature comforts which I missed more than I anticipated. Build and design quality are excellent on both unit but it would be unfair to compare these apples and oranges. They are both well built and are sturdy. In fairness there more things to break on Tab400 but didn’t break.
@@heyBurt thanks, I’ve been looking at the NuCamps and the Taxas. Pretty different design/construction philosophies but both seem like quality smaller campers.
This is nit first snow in Lynwood Washington
You are absolutely right, title updated. I meant to say for the year.
I love mine , I never set on concrete or rocks.
Do you like your Lynx? I watch your mods video, are the protective things you added to the hull working out okay?
How well does the window unit cool it in the south? Any leaking?
No leaking at all, this is a well built camper. Cross ventilation with windows open helped in warm weather but being under the shade helped even more 😅
Nice job! I am going to try a few of those mods on my T@b.
Cool. I've been looking at one of these for my teardrop, but wasn't sure how low the side walls were......looks good to me.
32,000 a little much
The original cricket came with a space in the interior for a porta potty and shower.
carabiner idea is very good. Now, I have to say your video started to give me a headache with all the jerky camera movement and music. Emphasis on features of shelter not highlighted such as easy side rollup and peg location options with sewn pocket u used for carabiner. I suggest u read the instructions to make a truly informative video. Sincerely.
There’s one point on the music I seriously got up to check if there was a rattle snake in my back yard, my dog was out and if you’ve ever heard one you’d know what I’m talking about.
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. I definitely have huge room for improvement.
W❤️W! That’s Lovely! Happy Weekend! Cheers!🥂❤️✨
felt like I was watching porn, nice music lmfao
Lol, I almost spit my coffee!!!!
I'm lying down with my son trying to get him to go to sleep and caught myself doing a dance wiggle 😆
Thank you for the video, how is the bottom of your hull holding up?
It received some scratches from concrete boat launch but they were cosmetic in nature. I have sever strips of plastic protectors where it would receive the brunt of contacts and they are all holding up. I am told that the hull of these kayaks is not that thick so I try not to be too hard on them.
Thanks for the great demonstration.
Great all around, but brother, you need a tire upgrade 🤙
Agreed 100%! I also need to learn to use crawl control to be more effective. Thanks for the comment.
I have the Kelty Sideroads since I like it more open. I tent camp and I can attach it to my Gazelle giving me an awning where I can relax outside with shade or under mild rain, of course I can also use it for my SUV. They’re great. Thanks for the video.
Cool kit bud. I like it's versatility. Going ahead to pull the trigger and grab one from Amazon. Thanks again for review and assembly. 🙏🏼🤙🏼
Thanks for sharing, beautiful area, and informative video. We did an amazing kayak trip from Steamboat Rock recently, and published the video on our channel ua-cam.com/video/0cAHejCBuRo/v-deo.html. Looks like it was a less windy day for us. Haven't camped there yet, but hope to get there again next summer. So much to explore by kayak! How was the fishing?
Fishing was good! I was going for smallie’s. It was only windy at the south part of the lake and it wasn’t windy at all by the campground.
@@heyBurt thanks, will have to bring the fishing gear next time.
Interesting review. We own a 2019 t@b 400 bdl and have taken many long trips - longest being three months and many times parked / camped without sewer hookups. Our rule of thumb and it's worked for two people taking short showers each night, we can go three days before we have to find a dump site. As for the sensors in the tanks - same issue so you definitely have to back flush whenever you dump. What works for us is I'll open black then gray and once I see no more fluid coming out, I'll close the black and backfill it for about 2-mins. I open it and let it flush and repeat this step two or three times. It's just the nature of the tanks and to be honest, I'm not sure an actual gauge would be any better given the expose of the sensor to the waste. As for that crack, appears the door may have been slammed pretty hard at some point. It may have come open while traveling and slammed shut. I would send a photo to nucamp and start a discussion on possible repairs. We had a floor issue and nucamp replaced the entire floor no charge. They are a great company and worth a visit and a tour of the plant. I would also if you haven't already, join the nucamp forum. There is a pdf guide that a fellow nucamper posted that talks about repairs, tools, fuses, etc. that condenses that bag of manuals you get when you purchase the rig.
You did good brother!
Thanks!! Since I am in the purchase decision, I would have appreciated to see more of the inside. Generally the areas inside that interest me are storing, dining, cooking, sleeping & toilet/batch. You talked about sleeping & technical stuff like tanks. Important, yes. But only a small part of the total experience
We have a 2019 t@b 400 BDL and it's my wife and I plus an Australian Sheppard and lap dog and we've put about 30k miles on our rig with our longest trip being from FL to AK. For storing - we have a microwave so inside it we store bread items. In the open storage area above the stove we store any food items that are soft packaged as things in this area seem to fall out on rough roads. The cabinet next to it is our spice/coffee/creamer etc. storage. Under the stove we have three drawers dedicated to clothing. We opted for the larger fridge, so no closet but we have one larger drawer under the fridge and in here we store heavier personal items (extra shampoo, makeup items, etc. The cabinet under the sink we store plates/pots and pans. I'll be honest, when we started this cabinet was jammed full but we've started downsizing. Basically if we haven't used it in two trips, we take it out. In the round cabinet at the entry way we store a kettle, dish washing and laundry stuff, and an electric skillet. Usually there is room to add extra drinks as well. In the front seating area we use the area where Burt was seating to store one extra set of sheets (there are small shelves tugged behind the wall that we set these on). Right under the window we have a bag of spare napkins. Behind the cushion is a cavity where we store extra rolls of toilet paper and paper towels. We keep a close eye on this area when winter camping cause it can get warm from the ALDE unit. In the bathroom we removed the sink (if you go to the nucamp forum there is a thread for this) and we are so glad we did. Lots more room to move while showering. On the top shelve we store spare towels. On the second shelve we have all the stuff we need for daily use. We replaced the mirror on the door with a longer one so my wife (who is vertically challenged) can manage her hair better. So, if it isn't clear, we have the bathroom door open and use the kitchen sink. Under the bed we store items that we use outside. I purchased three military style plastic boxes that hold the following - first box in holds extra drinks or whatever we want to bring. The second box in is our water box. It holds the water filter, water hose, hose connectors, clorex wipes. The first box and last one loaded is the electrical box and it holds our power cord, surge protector, two small extension cords). Next to this box we store six lego blocks. One for each stabilizer and two for the front hitch. Traveling in our t@b for almost three years on some long trips we have learned a lot with the main thing being not to over pack. I hope some of this helps.
Very great explanation 🎉
Great video and information. Thanks for not putting music in your video especially when you're talking.

Cool setup. I want to get one too. Some of the videos I have seen say that the wave slapping sounds against the kayak is really loud. Have you noticed this?
Thanks, yes I can definitely hear it during certain conditions but I am not sure if it is in “loud” category. Some may find it a bit annoying but I was fine with it.

Very nice background music
buddy! awesome ~🙌
Thanks, I’ve gained much appreciation for UA-camrs during this trip. It is a lot of hard walk…especially when you are at unfamiliar places.
That looks fun. Safe travels
Thank you very much for sharing your experiences, appreciate it much. God bless your journey.
*I gave-up over 4.30 of that SH!T MUSIC!* *This video is CRAP!*
Excellent!
I've read that because of it's construction it's not very durable hitting a branch sticking up in the water. Have you had any experience with this?
That sounds like a bit of exaggeration but having said that these kayaks do seem to scratch easy. I haven't experienced anything like structural damage from normal launching from pebbly beach and your average cement boat launch.
Music was SO loud, I couldn’t hardly hear you 👍
I agree. The music was obnoxious and wrecked what could have been a good video.
Great and useful video! It was real!
Are folks happy with the purchase of the lynx. I went outback which infeel has way more versatility bit she is heavier. Thx for feedback
I think Outback is a sturdy and well built kayak and I would have gotten it if it was easier for me to store, transport and deploy it. Lynx’s light weight was my main reason for choosing it. I am happy with it.
Great idea on the striping basket. That was exactly what I was searching the UA-cams for.
So do you like this better than the Tab 400? If money were no object which would you choose? I'm thinking about a small trailer to tow behind my Honda Ridgeline.
Oh my goodness, there is no comparison. My decision was based on my current circumstance. Tab400 is by far superior in terms of comfort and roominess. To me, Tab 400 is a real RV and Cricket is a camper for minimalist. You should spend some time in each camper if you can. Good luck.
@@heyBurt Thank you! That makes sense. I thought maybe you didn’t like the Tab 400. I see the Tab 400 is now $45K+, which is crazy, but the Crickets are pretty spendy, too.
@@whippersnappercc Yes, all RV and camper prices are crazy right now. That was why I bought one used...even then my 2017 Cricket was more expensive than what I paid for my used 2019 Tab 400. Other things to consider are, do you have a place to store Cricket or Tab400 (or anything that you plan on buying for that matter) and how often do you plan on using your camper/RV? Ridgeline is a great tow vehicle as well as daily driver. The previous owner of my Tab 400 towed with his Ridgeline. Just FYI, I've notice couple Tab400 owners I follow on UA-cam upgrade to a bigger trailer. Personally, I thought Tab 400 was big enough but then it always boils down to individual needs and circumstances.
@@heyBurt It's just two people camping, so I don't think space would be a huge concern. Storage could be an issue. I can put it in my front yard as I don't have any HOA's or zoning problems with that, but my neighbors might not love it. I think I might just wait for the madness to subside. 45-50K for a Tab 400 seems absolutely crazy to me, and the new Crickets are 35K+, right? I think the used market might adjust but right now it seems like a bad time to buy.
Jiminy Cricket!
Here is a mod I made on my Lynx. Reverse the handles to make a great Fish Grip Holder.
Great video! I applaud you for protecting your investment! Your Hobie should last many years! Thank you!
I just stumbled on your video tonight. 6/19/22 I have the same version of the 4runner as you do. I have the 2018 TRD OFF-ROAD PREMIER Here is some good advice to help you get threw deeper snow or difficult terrain. I had a 2" leveling kit installed on the front which gives me better clearance without putting a 3" lift kit that would entail a lot of extra costs which comes with that. The leveling kit is only around $600 installed. Second get yourself a set of all terrain tires!! Maybe a set if BF Goodrich KO2' OR, GOODYEAR DEFENDERS . These are just a couple I have personally used and it's night and day driving with a all season tire off road! The tires like yours are more for the road . The two tires above will give you the best on road and off road experience and will make it way nicer not getting stuck and having trouble getting threw! There are many other types of tires out there. The two I mentioned are ones I personally have used and had very good luck with. I think Toyota should have tire options on these vehicles and the customer can choose which tire will work best for how each person will be driving their vehicle! Good luck! Greg Michigan 😎🤙
Very nicely done. I just got my Lynx and can't wait to get ti on the water. I have the same net and like how you can easily deploy it. Only issue I see is that the net might come in the way while landing the fish or may get hooks tangled in them. Also there is a product called Keeleazy, very durable made out of pvc and easy to apply.
Is it hard to keep the fly line from getting tangled up in the drive when you are standing up to cast? Does the stripping basket help when standing?
My buddy s the fly fisherman and according to him, stripping basket definitely helps whether you are sitting or standing.
Yes, that was crazy going up that trail! Glad you made it back down safely.
