Guys, here's what actually broke the connection: Naomi trained castiel to kill dean by making up a bunch of fake deans to practice on, which we saw. But if you were paying attention, you would've noticed how the fake deans were begging for their lives. Naomi had done this again and again, training cas to ignore that. But what Naomi didn't count on was how the only begging the real Dean did was for cas to be okay. That's why you hear cas saying that this "isn't right". In none of the practice sessions did the fake deans beg for him to be okay. This isnt even shipping coded, that's what happened!

No bc dean didn't try to fight back or even defending himself from cas's assault, he just tried his damn best to get through to cass and if him dying would make cass himself again he'll take a chance

Most people are already commenting on the Dean side of all this which is incredible and heart wrenching and all that definitely so because it’s already been said, I kind of want to say something on the flipside: Misha‘s acting whenever it switches to Naomi and Cas’ reactions are incredible as well. We got so insanely lucky with the cast of this show. They’re incredible 🥹

The fact that Dean was originally supposed to say “I love you” here just makes me a little bit feral more than usual. They felt it was a little too out of character for him to say it so straightforwardly like that, so they changed it. And they were right. But he doesn’t have to say it for us to know. I just wish he had the chance to finally say it in s15 :(

I get changing "I love you" to "I need you", cuz Dean wouldn't SAY that (he would feel it, Dean equates love with being need) but why would you cut out Dean saying "I forgive you", when that would be just enough to break the mind control hold on Cas? And no, touching the tablet did not break it, cuz the connection broke BEFORE he came into contact with the thing.
