Dave McMurray
Приєднався 14 чер 2021
Dave was born and raised in the City of Detroit. He started playing sax when he was 9-years-old, and received a full scholarship to Cranbrook Schools, based on his artistic gifts. After graduating from Wayne State University, he began his career as a teacher. He soon left to pursue his dream of making a living from music. Dave has worked with BB King, The Stones, Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop, Bonnie Raitt, Patti Smith, Bootsy Collins, Herbie Hancock, Was Not Was, Bob James, Kem and many more. In addition, Dave had a multi-year stint with Kid Rock, recording and touring. Don Was said about Dave: “He never plays licks for the sake of playing licks. He’s not trying to impress people with all he knows about music or about his dexterity over the instrument. It’s all about honest expressions.”
Dave McMurray is a Blue Note artist. His second album for the label is entitled Grateful Deadication, and is a jazz interpretation of Grateful Dead compositions, out July 16th.

Absolutely beautiful thank you.
I love this. It is for real. And as a tenor player myself, I enjoy his sound and honesty. Does any one know what mouthpiece and reed he plays on that Cannon Ball?
Smooth!
Phenomenal!

Dave, you and the guys were shredding Saturday night! My girl and I were out on the town for Valentines Day and stumbled upon you guys.we’re both Deadheads, we met at a show about ten years ago…absolutely stunning to hear the heart a soul you share with us. Where is your schedule located and how does one go about booking you guys?

severely underrated
ohhh yeah!
These cats are ridiculous !!! I love them so much!!! What flavor
Such an amazing interpretation of this classic. The Dead always said they wanted, at their best, to sound like Coltrane.
Amazing just Amazing
So sick! Just discovered this album released on the Blue Note website and was so excited. Taken as two distinct groups Blue Note records and Grateful Dead records are the two largest sections in my record collection. Putting them together is like PBnJ to me.
What is PBnJ?
@@JimiBegbaaji Peanut Butter and Jelly, everybody in the USA eats this as a kid.
These artists are having so much fun as they create a lively music masterpiece. Seeing them in person is soul healing therapy.
Saw you guys at terrapin! It was incredible. Can’t wait for the next time!!
His haunting soulful sound makes me want to take off into the wilderness in search of a perfect place for my soul. Dave has singlehandedly replaced the Crusaders with such inspired musicianship. Keep the banner flying with your team bro, thanks.
Thanks from italy. Jerry lives ❤️
This is an excellent CD should be nominated for Jazz Album of the Year. Without a doubt this is a jazz heavyweight
These artists blend together so well.
