This makes me sad. You say your form Woodstock , but those of us who grew up here & live here now, know that 'grandpa woodstock' is actually from CT. The courts & village people were sick of his petty crimes on their streets, so they gave him a one-way bus ticket to anywhere, and unfortunately, he chose Woodstock NY. He has since been arrested here for selling drugs to minors. He also claims that you can take a pic with him for "free", then he harasses you for a "donation". This is how he avoids a peddlers permit. He drives a nice Subaru SUV that is usually parked in the Rock City Road municipal lot. He is anything BUT what Woodstock stands for. Please don't patronize him or give him an advert here.

DCU is deffo not 2 hours from the city center! It's about 20 mins by bus or car, 30 mins by bike. Dublin is actually very small and easy to get around.

I am moving to DC myself quite soon from NYC. When I moved to NYC 8 years ago I was coming out of the military and definitely did not want to start over but I did not have much of a choice. What helped me was joining different groups and getting a mentor with a similar experience. I hope you are still doing well. Oh another thing I suggest living in Japan it was the best culture I have ever lived in.

Wow! Good luck on all of your adventures (and congrats on the job)! I was wondering about how long the moving process takes in DC. Like, once you sign your lease, about how long do you have before you should move in? I am relocating from teaching in China to DC for graduate school, but I'm afraid I won't have enough time to move before school starts. I don't even know where to begin with finding a job / place to live haha. Any advice helps!

I can recommend the Hill of Howth walk. On a good day, the views are fantastic. The Dart will bring you out there and back.

That's not Dublin Castle, it is St.Andrews Street church which is now the Central Tourist Office. Dublin Castle is just off Dame Street.
