Building Tales
United States
Приєднався 11 жов 2021
The official UA-cam channel for IG pages @development_fails and @building_tales. Content will mostly be centered around construction, development and those types of issues but I'll probably throw some random stuff in every now and then to keep you all guessing. New videos coming about failed projects, successful projects and everything in between!
10 (More) Crazy American "Highways to Nowhere"
"Highway to Nowhere".... its a general term used to describe stalled highway infrastructure projects or highway projects that just don't make a whole lot of sense. I did one video about this subject a couple weeks ago. On that video there were hundreds of new suggestions about other "Highways to Nowhere" in the United States, so this video digs into some of those. Most of these were ones that I was totally unfamiliar with so it was super cool to see all of the examples of stalled highway infrastructure projects.
An upcoming video is going to be on failed residential housing developments... so if you have any good ideas for that one send them my way!

Chicago’s Most Spectacular Building Never Built
Connecticut is full of roads like that, like route 7 in Norwalk, route 25 from Bridgeport to Newtown I call them half a brain roads
There's a failed development called Newfields to the West of Dayton, Ohio that was going to be constructed along the western leg of the planned I-675 project. When the western leg of I-675 was canceled (it never got off the planning stage) the Newfields project died and the majority of the land was sold to the state to became Sycamore State Park. A small portion of the land was developed on Sycamore Woods Blvd.
Not sure how glamorous it is, but Louisiana State Highway 1141 in Cameron LA is completely disconnected from the mainland (but still technically under state control). The ferry service to Monkey Island got washed out by Hurrican Rita in 2005 and never got restored. There's also TX highway 87 between Port Arthur and Galveston whose entire middle section is just... gone. If you drive west from Port Arthur it just stops. Washed out by erosion and never rebuilt. Funny because the signs still mark the bypass route as a TX 87 "detour."
I hope this is forcing the Secret Service to get their act together. Also, with all those guns around, you'd think Americans would be better shots!
US-219 starts at I-90 and goes south, but comes nowhere near I-86. You say it starts at I-86 (NY-17)?
NJ Route 18 ends abruptly in Wall Township. It has an interesting story and if completed would make driving in that area a breeze.
You could do an entire video about Buffalo NY
9:43 - Cal-tran did condemn and buy homes on the I-710 freeway route, but these homes were demolished, and Cal-tran is the home-owning landlord renting these houses to residents.
2:33 - When building/planning a new highway/road, encountering a railroad to cross creates a complication.
If you ever do a third video in these series, you might want to look at Interstate 990 outside Buffalo in New York.
Hey, Genesis says the arc was built of wood, it doesn't mention metal and concrete.
As a Bible believer these buildings offend me! What a brood of vipers!
I thought after oral roberts died his brother rectal took over operations...
The projects in Breezy point Queens that were never built. They managed to put up steel skeletons of the buildings before public outcry halted the project. When the residents knew they wouldn't be finished and had to be torn down they all gathered and cheered when they were blown up and demolished.
The Ark Encounter in Kentucky is the most IRONIC building of any faith on Earth. One week it rained so much the "ARK" flooded so they had to use their flood insurance. I guess God doesn't do reruns. Imagine the balls on that insurance salesman. Faith don't pay the bills. ...............................................................Titties! Love that Chicken Church!
I really hope they give the true people back their homes if they can. Because the real knows the real truth.
Imagine future archeologists coming upon a giant abandoned chicken deep in the jungle. What will they think? Something about chicken worship?
You want to be rich ? Start your own religion. Maybe.
Very interesting!
2:00 My wife's car was stolen from a mall near St. Petersburg, FL one night back in the late 80's. Florida DNR officials found it months later when someone's air boat hit it after the thieves dumped it into one of those canals before any of that was developed.
Looks like a good skate spot if it's smooth enough
Mega churches? Nothing wrong with those. It's the people that are gullible enough to fall for the scam that are the problem. You all know who. Christians.
Luke 14: 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? 29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, 30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
At this time the Champlain Parkway is open from Home Av to Lakeside Av and they're working on the I-189 connection. Four signalized intersections in a little over half a mile, with room for all of them to have been roundabouts, is traffic engineering malpractice IMO.
Appreciate the update on the progress!
Prayer doesn’t work! This is your god telling you NO! Lolololol
Lasalle Expressway and Milestrip Expressway, two short highways that were supposed to connect as part of an outer beltway around the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area...
Appreciate the ideas, I'll definitely look into those ones for a future video!
Hello fellow buffalonian!
You also have to include the unfinished I-990 project.
My hometown!
I live next to this. You missed the whole story. And it's has nothing to do with the airport
👍
No windows? The abundant life building could be a JW church.
There’s the abandoned portion of I-22 in Birmingham Alabama at an interchange with I-65
That's a cool one, that I hadn't heard of before! Looking at it on google maps now... neat how it sorta dead ends at the railroad overpass with the other flyovers above it
Just by reading the title, I knew the Harvest Life church would be here. It's right by my house and I pass by it on a daily basis. I always ponder about what could've gone there. A huge library and community center would fit in that building... but nope. Another money laundering megachurch.
Yea it's unfortunate to see for sure
Can you do a top 10 video talking about airports that were planned to be built here in the United States, but never saw the light of day? You could mention the Everglades Jetport in it.
Definitely, that's a good video idea! I'll start putting together a list ... I know of a few pretty interesting ones
I have passed the abandoned replica frame of Noah’s Ark many times .
Same! Always know you're getting close (ish) to Deep Creek Lake when you see that
Thanks for the video. Although I'm on the west coast, I'm kind of a Detroit afficianado having watched the architectural revitalization for the past few year. I'd have to say the Michigan Central Station is probably #1 due to it's size, scope and it was so emblamatic of Detroit's urban collapse.. But it's your video so keep up the great work!
Thanks! Glad you find this kinda stuff cool too! And I think you have a fair point with the grand central station being the biggest and most impactful... definitely coulda been moved up the list.
Was about to call this the east coast edition til you threw in IL and CA. 😂
Haha true 🤣 I’ll make sure I add a little more geographic diversity in to the next video
We may soon have a train to nowhere if they do not finish the California High Speed Rail project. So far, only the middle part connecting some central valley agricultural cities is being built.
It will certainly be interesting to see if/how it turns out!
Religious organizations inevitably degenerate to power and politics, and therefore MONEY.
There use to a fairly famous failed housing just outside Branson, MO called Indian Ridge Resort. Nearly completed mini mansions where abandoned in various stages of completion. They stood there until just a few years ago when they demolished everything after so many people kept going there to see them.
That's a wild one! Crazy how far along some of those houses got before the project fizzled out
🕊️ XLNT 🤌🖖☯️
Waterbury, CT
Wrong reason. No conflict with reservoirs. It was a political decision by the Governor, nearby people didn't want the traffic noise.
The WV one is not a waste. And it’s continuing. It’s will save a massive amount of time.
Agree to disagree!
Oh man we had some fun on drunk summer nights on that bridge to nowhere
Do Route 57 in Agawam Massachusetts!
MLK was a notorious womanizer .. who was he embracing? Probably not his wife 😂
This administration is a joke. Kamala will be worse.
Am so tired of us spending money on these people and Ukraine!
Been there it’s like driving down a highway if fear the walking dead was real 😂
Ark Of Safety?? If you can't build it like Noah did....with ONLY WOOD...then maybe there was no ark.
the unused sections are supposedly training areas for the state troopers. if you park t the church you will get a trespassing ticket and or towed. ask me how i know
