The Pack a.d. -
I wrote this song about a week before we went in to record "Do Not Engage". Originally, I wanted to add percussion and some other layers but everyone agreed it was better on it's own with just guitar and vocals. I suppose it's not the happiest song in the world... but happy songs just never have the quite same weight. The lyrics ended up being somewhat personal too, which is rare for me. I usually prefer to write songs pretending to be another person. Having an alter ego seems to be a natural part being a performer though. You have to separate yourself somehow - Becky Black

This song came into existence at the end of a time of reckless abandon, of excess and of heartbreak and breaking. It was a waving goodbye, a salute to the person I had been, while beginning the metamorphosis into the person I want to become. But also recognizing I cannot evolve without experience. "I can't leave it behind, if I've never really know." -Noah Gundersen Video by Joel Sadler Audio b...

7th Song was written at a time when I felt overwhelmed and challenged by this idea of either becoming a rolling stone and gathering no moss or gathering the moss and really investing in my home and my city and the people I love. There is much to be gained from untethering oneself and riding the wave of what the universe offers you, but it is also valuable and nourishing to have a home and stabl...

Like the majority of my songs, this was written at my father's house in Sylvan Lake, Michigan where I lived for practically all of my life. I drink a pot of coffee and just sit with a guitar on my lap, staring out across the back patio at the thawing yard and all the very subtle characters of my environment that I've unconsciously memorized-the decay of the tool shed, my old soccer rebound prac...

This is one of our oldest songs that just won't go away-that has retained its poignancy for us the most. Rosemont is the street on the border of Detroit and Dearborn, Michigan where my mother grew up. I wrote this song as a young man who was starting to sense the story of her generation and the complex trajectory of Detroit and the northern suburbs into which it ruptured and spilled. It is anot...
