Cosmere Theory - Cultivations Secret Plan
Just a thought cultivation uses the night watcher as a test to determine the hearts of men. The thing gods can’t see directly
Brandon has a WoB where he says we shouldn’t look for a dragon among current SA characters unfortunately for the Lift Dragon theory
I don't think this is what hemalurgy fundamentally is... I think your speculation on the lifecycles of rosharan fauna is a bit off, but even if it were the case, it's just two very different ways for a thing to change form. We have enough examples in the cosmere of various "end-negative" magics that I think that's just fundamentally a thing, not that every case is some hypothetical perfect system that's been corrupted. Bloodsealing, Lifeless, shades, and even hemalurgy. I think that we know from the existence of Ruin that destruction is a fundamental aspect of the realmatics of the cosmere, and these arts are an expression of that.
I disagree with the idea that she's unable to fail to Cultivate. I certainly hope it's not true. Because if the Shards are all nothing but one-dimensional pokemon than the story gets very boring. Look at Leras, for example. He had everything Preservation should want. A perfectly static world. Nothing changed, nothing grew, nothing risked destruction. He gave that all up, completely broke with the ideal of Preservation, to make humans with Ati, alongside the promise that they and the entire planet would one day die. Then he killed even himself, not to hold things in stasis, but so that one day Vin would take his power, use it to kill herself and Ati both, and then Sazed would take up the conjoined powers, again, not to keep things preserved, but to usher in a world where society would grow and change and thrive and potentially even face extinction. Clearly, Vessels are able to go against the Intent of their Shards.
If I wanted something read to me I would have downloaded an audio book
Wit has very clearly stated there is only one dragon on Roshar.
Wit doesn't know everything. Do you happen to have a chapter for where this would be? As far as I can remember, he only stated that there only 1 person as old as him on Roshar
@@QuantifiablyInvestedI believe Wit states it outright in RoW ch 80 “The Dog and the Dragon”
The shard replacement theory makes so much sense.
I'm sure it's been said before but Taravangian confirmed it was both the emotion and intelligence. He thought it was the intelligence, then over time he wondered if it was the emotion. It's like the first thing he says, "it was both"
Would this also explain part of how Yelig-nar is able to "bond" with Singers and Humans via swallowing a gemstone?
@@soulslurpee I didn't even think of that. That's really weird magic I can't wait to learn more about! I don't THINK so... Unless there gemstones had a spren in it... Unless the different kind of gemstones (sapphire, Ruby etc) work in the same way I think spren work... This is a very good thought and could be!
❤❤❤
Cultivation shaping gods is so awesome.
You should not wear tank tops, buddy. Wear looser shirts or t-shirts. Mantits look massive in the tanktop. Talking from the experience.
Kelsier held Preservation and willingly gave it up to Vin (Mistborn Secret History)
As per a WOB - Lift is NOT a Dragon :'(
See my WoB video. I'm still hoping this changes.
This is great work.
Thank you! It took a LOT of research.
@@QuantifiablyInvested I can imagine - just completed my 4th stormlight reread and second whole cosmere reread and there is a tonne of stuff I had totally missed. Excited to see more of your content.
Sos un capo amigo, saludos desde Argentina, altas teorias
Gracias! Lo siento, mi Espanol es malo. Great to hear from Argentina!
The theory of cultivation giving up the shard is interesting. I’m on my re-read of oathbringer and there’s a story about the third moon associated with cultivation swapping with a human and coming down to Roshar. I think this alludes to cultivation trying to escape the life of a shard
I like this thought a lot! It would be good foreshadowing as well.
This is good.
I'm starting to think that we shouldn't take anything in the Cosmere as a given.
There's also a LOT of unreliable narrators, which makes it even harder
That was very funny thank you
I'm glad you liked it!
The stormfather also refers to kaladin as the son of honour, sure he says the same to Dalinar as well, however the stormfather calls kaladin, the child of Tanavast, who held the shard of honour. And Sanderson has said that there is an important reason for this.
Agreed! I don't think it's related to his heritage though. I think it's related to his connection he has with the intent of honor
And did he not state more recently that she keeps breaking her oaths? So she keeps going back, I am pretty sure I heard something on that in some video Brandon did
Your Lift theory is spectacular! Found some art of her recently and it just seems to fit her so well. Nice!
Also, one theory just popped into my half asleep mind that was stepping into the cognitive realm😅. That stone, what if that was gifted to Kaladin feom Tien, who might have snatched it up as Dalinar did his thing. If Ba Ado Mishram is the Wind. It would make sense on her being so much more blatant, she is possibly there now, just imprisoned in a rock, or a fabriel. This could also explain why Maya is also so much more present.
It was her second fourth ideal. “I said them already,” Shallan replied as the Heavenly One twisted the knife. Say them again. “I’m afraid,” Shallan said. The thing is, we have been misinformed the entire time, so who does she give her truths to and when? She has one spren whom we only just learned about at the end of the ladt book, who is to say which spren has which bond?
The things is, we have a wob that says, in Oathbribger, Shallan is one ideal ahead of Kaladin. And Kaladin is very firmly third, almost fourth ideal. But the scene where it shows her armor is a little weird.
@QuantifiablyInvested I do want to amend one part of what I said, we may have been misinformed. Not have been misinformed. And I do remember that WoB, but what I mean by misinformed, it is me stating we do not know which spren she was stating her truths to and honestly, I have trouble trusting Pattern
If speaking of Shallan, the person might be writing of her ability to manifest a specific future. If thinking about it, each time Shallan influenced an outcome, she was concerned about the situation. She was deliberate, not in the outcome, but in the art that predicted or fortune that influenced the outcome. These snippets that she had always come, as she was concerned and focused. I apologize if this sounds off, Ivam a bit tired
Yeah that could be as well, that was something I was thinking about. Maybe she did a drawing, unknowingly, of Szeth and Kaladin that predicted a future
Gotta say that I like this theory.
Okay, finished the video and you just had to make me hop onto the PC for this, there are a few things I would like to point out, first one being Wit, now first thing I will point out is that if anybody in the entirety of the cosmere were to deserve the title or shard of Discord, it would be Wit. Now, Wit makes mention that Cultivation and he had never really gotten along, but a couple weeks back I was watching a Brandon Q&A where he makes mention of Wit had a relationship a dragon once but refused to elaborate on who, but seemed to have a shit eating grin as he said this. Now either this dragon is going to be very important and intriguing somewhere down the road or it was Cultivation before she was Cultivation. As for Odium the shard, I myself have a running theory, that around maybe book 10 that Kaladin will pick up the shard of Odium. Now, before you dismiss this as so many do when I mention it hear me out, Teravangion is somebody who can kill his emotion and make decisions he for his desired outcome and protect his little kingdom, but is that the true best way to control the shard? I do not think so. This is just essentially killing your conscience not controlling the shard, and due to her singular nature, I do not think that she understands this aspect of the shard. "My instincts say that the power of Odium is not being controlled well. The Vessel will be adapted to the power’s will. And after this long, if Odium is still seeking to destroy, then it is because of the power." This letter speaks of Rayze being unable to control the shard as does this explain the issues of Odium: The power of Odium’s Shard is more dangerous than the mind behind it. Particularly since any Investiture seems to gain a will of its own when not controlled. The thing is that this states that the shard is more dangerous than the mind behind the shard. Looking at it from this perspective, Taravangian is the mind, a mind and while he has exerted his thoughts and foresight, he has never truly needed to show us his control, in truth, due to what he went through with the dumbing and intelligent days, this actually tells me that he never did have control over himself. But then, what if Cultivation in her foresight showed what creating Taravangian into the shard could create. Now, through everything Kaladin endured even before the ascension of Taravangian, he learned to hate. Roshone first gave him that feeling which matured after the death of Tien, Then Amaram taught Kaladin true hatred and the desire to not kill but murder. Sadeas was the next to teach him hatred with the bridge crews. As little as it is being written these aspects taught Kaladin the meaning of hatred and taught him the passion he needed to survive. Kaladin in essence is a passionate man and this is not just me speaking, Brandon flat out wrote it out and it is often overlooked and overshadowed. We focus on Kaladin the windrunner bonded to an honorspren, Kaladin, a man whom temporarily broke his oaths, Kaladin, a man described by Shallan as: Passionate, with an intense, smoldering resolve. A leashed anger that he used, because he had dominated it. And a certain tempting arrogance. Not the haughty pride of a highlord. Instead, the secure, stable sense of determination that whispered that no matter who you were - or what you did - you could not hurt him. Could not change him. And if I were to move into newer territory just a couple chapters back Kal and Wit speak of the Passions: “Kid,” Wit said, leaning down over Kaladin on the couch, “the Passions are absolute horseshit.” “What? It’s good to be hopeful! The Passions sound nice.” Honestly, if I take out my bias for Kaladin and stop looking at the shard of Odium as evil in nature, I think he could be the one person to control it, but this is just my ideology on this, as Brandon can do some devastating stuff, right Vin?
LOTS of stuff to unpack here. I'm not against your theory, I just want to point out a couple things. First off, have you read Way of Kings Prime? From my understanding, Wit is bisexual. I wouldn't be surprised if this dragon he previously has a relationship with was Frost. We see him and Wit talk back and forth through some letters in one of the Stormlight Archive books. It starts off with - "Old friend, I hope this missive finds you well. Though, as you are now essentially immortal, I would guess that wellness on your part is something of a given". I wouldn't be surprised if thisd relationship was romantic at one point. A LOT of work will need to be done to change the portrayal of Odium if Kaladin is going to take up that Shard. I can't find it right now, but there is a WoB that essentially states that namking your child Kaladin will be safe, and that you dont have to worry about regretting the decision because of the character turning bad or anything like that. I do think people are wrong to assume that Odium is evil by nature. I am really excited to see where Brandon takes this shard in Wind and Truth!
@QuantifiablyInvested I have not read WoK's prime yet, only Dragonsteel, but as for needing to change Odium, I do not really think so. If you look at it from the perspective that nobody has been a good vessel for the shard and Kaladin could bring balance to it. As for prep to prepare people for it, it actually is riddled throughout the books and does not need to be a bad end for Kal or even happen right away.
Before I start the video in earnest, I am going to say that there aren't e two things i have been wearyof for a while, Cultivation and the Cryptics. Cultivation seems to have been playing some long game and hiding her foings in plain sight, only for us to notice after. And the cryptics, well... if Chanarach is actually Shallan's mother, they directly influenced a LOT of what happened. Now I will finish the video
Nice video, I always enjoy a good video talkingvabout the chapters. You covered most of the things I noticed, but I want to point out the one thing I felt screaming at me right as I read. It was the way Syl appeared before Dalinar and stated that Kal would do his best to heal Szeth and Ishar, while she would do what she can. This along with speaking of being at home, along with implying she was at home with Kaladin, and not any true place. This princess and ancient daughter, both of which we are reminded over the past few chapters, has some sort of plan that she is hiding from Kal. Major alarms going off in my head and while i do not believe she will die, I think it will take her away trom Kaladin and the bond.
What are you talking about . This means nothing to me and I ingest media like drugs
It's from a book series called The Stormlight Archive
@@QuantifiablyInvested ahhh I was confused thank you for explaining
what
It's from a book series called The Stormlight Archive.
I think that Preservation, when he put Rashek in place, intended for him to do certain things that would put his successor, atium Mistings and a Terris rebel in motion. But also knew that Rashek needed to die. It’s just by the time we see Preservation in SH, he no longer remembered Rashek’s true role in the plan.
It might be! I've got a different theory, but it involves entries I don't believe you've read yet. Hanlons Razor, so I should probably just accept that the simple answer is the right one, but as Kelsier would say "There's always another secret"
Nutty stuff
I can't decide if my long or short form content is crazier
I think Vin was special specifically because of Preservation’s grander machinations. We learned in SH that Ruin was “preparing her for even longer” than the day of her birth, so it seems both gods were arranging the birth of a Mistborn they could use as the linchpin of their plans. We don’t hear of anyone else Snapping during birth, much like how we don’t hear of anyone else drawing upon the mists. So it seems Preservation already had his fingers in Vin’s soul when she was born, making her Snap in that moment. I believe Preservation not only foresaw Vin could be his immediate successor, but also could be willing to kill and sacrifice her life if it meant protecting her loved ones. Chapter 79’s epigraph and Secret History confirmed that Ruin not only saw the confluence of Vin’s traits, but also saw she was being groomed by Preservation before she got the spike. My guess is the “other reasons” were the parts of Preservation’s plan Ruin didn’t foresee or underestimated, such as a lerasium Mistborn and Vin sacrificing themselves.
That could be! I didnt think about the other reasons being interference from Preservation. I took it as Ruin having subconscious reasons that he didn't realize for his choice, but I like that thought process too!
