Autumn Walk Through a Tree Rich Residential Area in Asahikawa | Hokkaido | Japan | 4K HDR
Turn on the subtitles for detail info.ℹ
video recorded:November 2024
Air temperature 7.2°C / 44.96°F
Recorded in Dolby Vision High Dynamic Range (HDR)
This video shows you around the residential area 'Kaguraoka' and 'Midorigaoka,' located south of Asahikawa City.
These districts naturally have shops, but one of the clear differences from other areas in this city is the numerous houses and apartments lining the tree-lined roads.
Because of this, you can enjoy pleasant scenery while walking, no matter the season-spring, summer, fall, or winter.
There aren't any tourist attractions, but it is one of the recommended areas to live in if you are in Asahikawa.
Enjoy your walk!

    Hi hi, I know Biel and furano have higher chances of snowing in early December. However, can you recommend any other places that my kids can play with snow that is reachable by public transportation from Asahikawa?

    • @saiba.
      @saiba. 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching! A convenient place for playing is "Kitasaito Garden," located behind Asahikawa Station. As long as there's enough snow, there's a continuous walking path along the river. (As you continue, you'll eventually reach the science museum.) And ・Tokiwa Park ・Kaguraoka Park are also relatively nearby and recommended, accessible by foot or bus. Other parks include "Mominoki Park" or "Shunkodai Park," where you might encounter squirrels and deer. However, there are occasional reports of bears, so it's not recommended to visit these parks when it starts snowing...

      @mwswzy 4 місяці тому

      @@saiba. thanks for the recommendations! Due to climate change, I’m afraid there might not be snowing in asahikawa during second week of December hence I’m looking for places where there are higher chances of snowing near asahikawa other than Biel and furano. We are staying in asahikawa for 3 nights and don’t mind traveling a bit further in public transport to reach nearby town Also, do you have any recommendations for private car hire that we can engage for a half day Biel scenic tour? There are 4 of us.

    • @saiba.
      @saiba. 4 місяці тому

      I see. Throughout Hokkaido, Horokanai Town might be a good choice, although you may need to transfer along the way. It stands out for its abundant snowfall.⛄ However, be aware that it is a small town with few tourist spots, and it takes about 2 hours to get there one way... For rental cars, I personally recommend "AG Rent-a-Car." Although their office is a bit far out in the suburbs, they offer competitive prices and a shuttle service (including to the airport), so you won't find it inconvenient.

    • @saiba.

      @@saiba. I have visited Hokkaido 3 times in the past 2 years so I have seen plenty of the beautiful island. My wife had a short conference in nearby Higashigawa so we only had a short time in Asahikawa. She's a bit afraid of the cold and it was January so it was cold. I actually like it. You can get a wide variety of excellent sake now in California but the price is at least double the price in Japan and is often more than that.

      Thanks for watching!🙂 In Asahikawa, the first snow usually falls between late October and November, so there's a high chance of seeing snow in early December. From mid-December to just before Christmas, snow is almost guaranteed!⛄ However, I have to say the snow sometimes melts in early December... If you definitely want to play or dive into a significant amount of snow, you might consider visiting also Biei Town, a nearby town about 30 minutes away by car or train, which is closer to the mountains. This city is not a large city, so you might already be familiar with many of its spots. (Especially ramen restaurants!) But if I can recommend a bit beyond the city center, you'll find the following spots. ・Kamuinomori Park ・Shunkodai Park ・Clover - Tamura Soft Serve (Ice cream shop, nearby the airport) ・Ayako Miura Museum & forest (might be able to meet squirrel or deer) ・Takasagodai Manyonoyu ・Takasago Hot Spring ・Road Station & Museum ・Sanbankan Mall (some old Japanese style goods) The following restaurants are well-known among the locals, but I think we don't see many people from overseas there. ・Machiya (Creative cuisine izakaya, in city center) ・Maruichitei (Tonkatsu) ・Hanachan (Fried squid leg rice bowl) ・Hachiya (Ramen) ・Asahi mochi-ten (Mochi shop, in Asahikawa Ginza street) ・Asahikawa Oshironokoi Sushi ・Dandelion (Pastry) ・Rokkatei Asahikawa Toyooka (Confectionery) ・Tsuboya Kibana no mori (Confectionery) ・OLIVE (Jumbo portion) ・Namonai Ramenya - "Nameless Ramen restaurant" While it's a bit of a distance from the city center, most of them can be reached without changing buses. My personal choices gathering some lesser-known spots, but I hope it helps!😄

    There's so much charm in this wonderful, crunchy snow walk !! 👍👍👍 It's a little bit sad to see the snow disappearing, but fortunately the crystal flakes will return in eight months or so. In a couple of weeks you'll be 'dashing throught the fields with spring flowers' (as in 'Dashing through the snow' from the Christmas song 'Jingle Bells') and that scenery will definitely be amazing as well. With this massive snowfall in Japan, King Winter tells the Japanese people an epic 'winter tale', or rather creates an epic 'winter play' in which each and everyone plays a part. And judging from your most beautiful video, it's a heavenly play to watch ! This snowfall must be a feast for the students of the Taiyu Elementary School beacause I think that they are having a 'ball' during their lunch brake, because they have the opportunity to hold snowball fights !!! What a joy !!! Thank you so much for sharing this excellent video with us! 👍 👍👍

    Two gems of landmarks you've chosen for this video. 'Walking along' with you by watching the video gives you the desire to blend in with nature and be one with part of Japan's culture at the Takasu shrine (which I visited). The video is excellent for relaxing and feeling free from the hassle of daily live. And it's a perfect tourist guide for those who visit Asahikawa in winter !! 👍👍👍

The rich choice of wonderful restaurants will make it locals and visitors hard to choose. Because I'm sure, and know from experience, that they all offer the best of food. It was a great joy to join you for a walk on this night excursion; Very informative and very entertaining. 👌👍👌👍👌👍

    That was once again an "Ohhhh !", "Aahhhh !", "Wow !" video for it's amazing and spectacular scenery !! Your fairytale like winter decor in Hokkaido is so unlike ours, because we only have cold, gloomy, windy and mostly rainy winter weather right now. But last week the ponds, streams and open air skating rinks were frozen, so we could skate for two days. Your video is such a gem 💎 Thank you so much for sharing it with us. ua-cam.com/video/6DiOPPb9Y4k/v-deo.html

    That's a genuine walk in 'Winter Wonderland'. The piled-up snow in the city are like amazing 'snow walls'; Very impressive !! I always associate snow in Japan with Hokkaido, and (of course, for me) the tv drama 'Kita no Kuni kara''. But also with the emotional 2005 tv drama 'Yasashii Jikan' (with Terao Akira, Ninomiya Kazunari and others.) That drama was also set in Hokkaido and the winter decor was so catching, that i've always had the desire to visit that location . (I know it was once opened as a tourist attraction.) Thank you so much for this amazingly heartwarming video, 'saiba'-san. (And for the coming year of 2024 I'm looking forward to watching your new releases and I wish you and your loved ones a 'Happy, healthy and safe New Year' ! ua-cam.com/video/zxCxnPvWBTQ/v-deo.html
