That Cinderella story comes to an end when his parents find out and try to get the marriage annulled. Anora has been getting a lot of Oscar buzz recently and I wanted to see if it was worth the hype or overhyped, here is my Anora Review!

I had the pleasure of seeing the movie and being at a Q & A with Jon M Chu. Being a massive fan of the musical I thought it was a wonderful part 1. Even though it did leave us on a cliffhanger part 1 feels like a solid movie that can stand on its own. That being said Wicked part 2 worries me a bit. It has all the payoff, but also does not have the introduction. You need to have seen the first movie in order for any of the plot to make sense. The first one you can assume that Elphaba flies off and embraces wickedness. The second act is more of a tie in into the 1939 film. Aka we get the Tin Woodsman and Scarecrow origin stories. Plus Madam Morrible becomes a much bigger threat.
As much as I hate waiting a year to see part 2, it means we get to grow up with the characters. There is a pretty large time gap between the first and second act and as a result the wait between films will only further that passage of time.
I have the same worries bc I’d say a good 90% of part 2’s or 3’s (depending on how they want to split it) do tend to be just pay off so hopefully Jon M Chu is able to stick the landing on not just being a continuation but also be able to make it have a proper flow that sticks the landing
I seen the reviews all said great movie definitely Oscar Contender and tracking hugh the hype really there could make close to billion dollars Me and my brother definitely gonna see at the theaters
I never thought it would make a billy however the last couple of weeks have made think it could, it would all have to depend on what the drop off is thanksgiving weekend ! I hope you and your brother come out enjoying it! It’s beautiful to see on the big screen!
@ it could make a billion but probably be hard cuz Moana 2 coming week after everyone predicted Moana 2 definitely be a billion but all that Speculation your thoughts on Moana 2 could hit a billion?
@ I think Moana 2 can hit a billion, it’s the most streamed movie, I think people have been wanting more, the reason why I’ll give it a 30% chance that it doesn’t hit a billion is because the review embargo doesn’t lift till Tuesday before the first showing (not sure if it’s true or not) but I don’t think the reviews good or bad would impact Moana 2 as much as like joker 2 or other not so good movies that have bombed this year
@ I heard a lot of people was upset at Joker 2 cuz it wasn’t really bout the beloved Batman’s villain from the comics it’s really bout some clown makeup guy with serious mental illness wasn’t the Joker anyway prove that end of the movie lost so much money at the box office barely beat The Marvels at the global box office seen the Marvels on Disney plus not good little bit better than Captain Marvel but not much did like Ms Marvel in the Marvels the Actress done a good job but still couldn’t save the film
@ that’s honestly something I never understood, maybe a lot of people didn’t see the theories after joker came out but Arthur not being the true joker didn’t surprise me at the end of Folix A Deux & I was surprised that a lot of people came out surprised at that reveal
The things that happen in the third act are important to the story. It sets up Part 2. The characters that didn't add much to the plot will have important roles to the story in Part 2.
Oh okay! I was thinking earlier about what part 2 is going to be like knowing that the wicked witch doesn’t die at the end…maybe but now I’m a little more interested to see how they tackle part 2!
I've never seen the plays but just seeing hte commercials with Cynthia makes me wanna check it out and I've never seen her in anything before so it'll be a first
I’ve only seen her in the live action Pinocchio and widows & I vaguely remember the latter, but she was really good in here
Wicked (the Broadway musical) is divided into two long acts. If the director wanted to tell the whole story in a single movie and still keep it faithful to the original play, it would have a 4 hour length. So it's two parts because the first movie is the first act of the play, and the second one will tell the second act.
Yeah I would not survive that musical😂 I’d be passed out at the 2 hr mark😂
@Miles_G_Reviews 😂😂 I usually don't like movies divided into II parts , but this one has a good reason for this
@ I don’t either which is why I didn’t want to do the gladiator 2/wicked double feature 😂 tried it for the barbenhiemer but I was exhausted halfway through Oppenheimer 😂
In the Heights is one of my faves as well.
It’s sooo good!! One of my biggest surprises!
We can tell you’ve never seen the stage production. Act I ends where the first movie ends. Part two will start where Act II begins. They also add in parts of the book that wasn’t in the stage production. You do know it started as a book. Also it’s a Broadway musical not a play. Those of us who are wicked fan understand all I have stated.
Play, Broadway musical, all the same too me. How long is this play??
@@Miles_G_Reviews 2 hours and 30 minutes with a 15-minute intermission between the two acts, so that's 2 hours and 45 minutes. The first act, which this movie is based on, is 1 hour and a half.
@ oh okay, someone commented earlier that it was 4 hr long
@@Miles_G_Reviews That's the length of the movie if it adapted all of the musical at the same time, not the length of the original musical. Jon said that he doesn't want to cut out any elements of the musical while still expand on and dive deeper into the story, hence the 4 hours statement, and hence why there are two movies, with this one adapts Act I of the Broadway show, while part 2 adapts Act II. See how the movie's runtime is almost as long as the entire musical despite only draws from Act I?
I really enjoyed this review. Thanks
Thank you for enjoying it!
This movie doesnt look very good. I havent liked a Rock movie in quite some time. I feel like hes a one dimensional actor.
I feel the same way, I’m hoping that his new A24 movie can bring us the rock we got in faster, walking tall and snitch but whenever he’s attached to a PG-13 action movie, it’s like Netflix, you know what to expect!
This was one of my favorite “scary” movies as a kid! 🍿
I don’t think I have a favorite childhood “scary” movie, maybe the DCOM’s on Disney like the Halloweentown movies and underwraps
Ndjge
What kind of mic are you using?
I believe it’s the Fifine USB mic
Is there anywhere to still watch this? (UK).
I’m not entirly sure but I think it might also be on Netflix in the UK
taking a 'long time'? I dont think so, theres a thing called 'Building the characters and thats what happened....Also Albert Finney was Oscar Nominated, theres no real need for any comparisons between two totally different interpretations, also the two films have very little to do with each other, dont understand all the comparisons
I. LOVE. THIS. MOVIE. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So much better than I thought! I need to go see it again!!
To everyone asking the movie name: The Jester
Good review, man
Thanks man i appreciate it!
This was beautiful film! I knew I was probably going to like it but I was surprised at how emotionally resonant it was. Great review! :)
Thank you so much!:) And I’m a big mommas boy so automatically this movie was going to hit me right in the feels! After I got done with the movie I immediately called my mom up!:)
@@Miles_G_Reviews I cried and I’m STILL CRYING 5 days later 🥲
@@jadelyn6216 I have never left a movie where I left the theater crying then continued to cry for 2 more hrs! It’s a phenomenal movie! So happy it got a sequel !!
Shame the actress had such a short career she was good in her few roles..
It is, another one that kinda had a short career (at least to me) is Amy smart, I know she’s done some small things here and there but the last time I heard of her was in the crank movies
The movie is a metaphorical bat shyt crazy nightmare.
Agreed!! And while I won’t watch it again, I love the ambitious swings this movie takes, we need more movies to take huge swings wether they work or not, I’ll always appreciate them for the risks !
Very cool choice!
2:11 no, all three of them look old, i know both their youth and middle age. just because they act in action movies doesn't mean they can do what they do in those movies for real. in fact, there are unrealistic physical standards for men too, it is impossible for them to be that active at that age, and those who experience what their age brings think that there is a problem with them. they get the roles that younger actors should get, here the double standard comes to the fore, women don't get these roles while men do. stories suitable for middle age and older ages should also be produced.
There was a Joey King movie that I got mad at the ending it’s called “the lie”
The one I got mad at was “wish upon” and I just remembered about that one 😅
@@Miles_G_Reviews and slender man
@@Miles_G_Reviews I been a fan of Joey king ever since Ramona and Beezus I thought as a kid that Selena Gomez was her actual sister

I’m a HUGE movie enthusiast/lover especially horror movies, aspiring business owner and actress. I’ve already watched 39 new releases in the movie theater this year including Transformers: One . This movie was incredible! I thoroughly enjoyed it! This was a good movie review. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for the kind word! I also throughly enjoyed transformers one hopefully we can get a sequel! & that’s way awesome!!! I hope you follow your dreams and they come true!!! Never give up on them even when people tell otherwise!!
I saw this on both Saturday and sunday, and probably will do so again next weekend. I LOVED this movie. Not Bumblebee though. Hes beyond annoying.
I can see that! I’m probably gonna try to sneak out today to catch it in 3D, wanted to see it in IMAX 3D but they aren’t showing it in that format sadly!

I don’t agree but thanks!
Life's a witch and so is agatha! let me know if this is a show that leaves you SPELLBOUND or makes you want to call BROOM service to sweep up this mess!
Why is she always in the bad movies Like kissing booth and this She was really good in we were the lucky ones She should get in better projects not these bad movies
The only 2 good things I’ve seen her in is the conjuring & the act, she keeps choosing these awful Netflix movies bc she has a first look deal with them so she’s pretty much choosing to do them, not sure if that’s the only thing that’s coming across her desk but if it’s not she needs to start picking other things outside the YA genre that at this point is pretty much a dead genre
Actually I think she just has a lot of pull with Netflix now and I think she told them because I remember her saying it was one of her favorite series. So I think she played it to the best of her ability. Let's remember that McG also helped developed Shadowhunters and that TV show was a hot mess (from what I saw, I never finished it), as an adaptation compared to the first movie.
@@bigonbooks4736 I didn’t know McG developed that show, I never found it all that appealing which isn’t saying much bc most of the Freeform shows don’t look appealing, I think they just needed better talent behind the scenes to put it nicely 😅
@@Miles_G_Reviews I think it came a little too late. The dystopian era was so long ago and the only reason Hunger Games is still a big hit is because it deals with relevant topics and the author is giving (somewhat) giving the fans the books they want (in terms of what prequel books we want, I don't think anybody wanted a Snow one).
@@bigonbooks4736 I agree, I think it would have done well between the hunger games and divergent
Tim Burton is hit and miss! what a dweb. Wake up and smell the dead in your head. Tim is the ledgend no one even comes close.
Hey, if you love him that much more power to you, I’ll give you 10 other directors that are better than Burton!
Cool thumbnail, bro
Thank you bro! I appreciate it !
I'm a HUGE movie enthusiast especially horror movies, aspiring business owner and actress. I've already watched 33 new releases in the movie theater this year including the Front Room. It was an ok watch. It had some interesting concepts and solid performances but I was left disappointed and wanting more from this movie because I was looking forward to watching it. This was a good movie review. 🎬🎥🎟️🎞️🥤🍿🍭🍬🍫❤❤❤❤
Thank you! And agreed, I think for me once it made that dark comedy switch it felt so unexpected bc I didn’t know if I should have been laughing or not!
Once I knew it was him I was not scared
I did not think it was that good . No Comparison to silence of the lambs. It looked so good but ..
I totally get you ! I think the fact that it was hyped up for a lot of people made it look like it was the best thing ever!
Didn’t finish the video but TRUST ME, Cinderella’s Revenge is probably one of the better public domain slasher movies. At least for me it was a better time than Blood & honey 1, 2, and Mouse Trap COMBINED
Well now it has shot up to my #1 to watch ASAP !
@@Miles_G_Reviews I finished it lmao, but yeah man, I completely agree with your review. Crazy how people back then called Blood & Honey a cash grab. When THIS IS LITERALLY TEXT BOOK DEFINITION 😭
@@RIVAS2004 to me every movie ever made is a cash grab but literally not even 5 seconds into the year they had a trailer, a poster and like 2 movies and a video game ready to go! I thought they would have released this like sometime earlier in the year, not halfway through it, I had completely forgotten about it !
Everybody is giving it great reviews I am so stoked to watch this the trailer really intrigued and now I am definitely going to watch it
This is a movie that deserves all the support it can get, it might not work for everyone but whenever a filmmaker takes a swing and can hit a home run, I will sing it’s praises till I’m blue in the face !
@@Miles_G_Reviews I totally agree with you and I was just thinking how 2024 seems to be the year of the "different" movie lol between Longlegs Cuckoo Blink Twice and now Strange Darling it is refreshing that mainstream Hollywood is willing to take a chance and promote more zany offbeat movies and are finally recognizing movie going audiences are interested in movies outside of Marvel lol I am a huge fan of weird movies myself so I have no doubt this is right up my alley and like you said I appreciate filmmakers who are willing to do something different in my opinion that is what art is all about
@@Model_Roe I 100% agree, I haven’t seen cuckoo yet I was gonna try to have a double feature with strange darling but I was too tired from my double feature the day before and I’m so curious about blink twice but even with movies like late night with the devil, yeah you got your tarots & strangers chapter 1 but I think 2024 will go down (for me anyways) as one of the most interesting year for low budget horror movies, I never expected to see Longlegs do the numbers it did!
@@Miles_G_Reviews Yes Cuckoo is getting mixed reviews it seems like popular is divisive on it lol like some people love it I've seen a lot of people drag it online but as someone into art house more offbeat movies I think it'll be right up my alley
Another stinker from John Cana
At this point I’m just waiting for him to come back as peacemaker bc either him, his agents or both aren’t picking good projects
Inside out 2 made 1.5 billion and number 1 Deadpool and wolverine made a billion Mufasa has a chance Despicable me 4 has a chance Dune 2 711 Joker has a chance Sonic 3 i doubt it Venom 3 no chance Bettle juice bettle juice no chance Garfield it did not
Inside out 2 no one saw making a billion Mufasa is my dark horse to make a billion Despicable me 4 won’t unfortunately I have dune in the right spot as of right now but that’ll change once mufasa, Moana & wicked come out Joker I still think will be big just not as big as the first one Sonic 3 I think might move to 2025 Venom 3 I’m giving a 30% chance Beetlejuice I think will surprise people, it’s got September to itself for a couple weeks Garfield was another dark horse for me
You share a lot of the same thoughts I have on this one. For me, the movie is nothing more than background noise. Being a guy from Boston, I'm an easy judge of films that take place in the city I know so well but this played out like a soulless greatest hits compilation of the crime comedy genre. No more free Dunkin for these two until they shape up. Great review, Miles!
Thank you! Not only that but it also felt like they got out of situations so easily!
It has nothing to do with Harry style
Happy to see you made it to 500! 🤘🏼

Congrats on 500 subs and great review been hearing a lot of mixed things about this movie especially about the 3rd act sounds like its the same issue for you with it dragging out i do want to check this one out but going in with low expectation
Thank you!!😁 I would go in that way, you can start to take a nap when we leave the concert setting, it turns into a Saturday morning cartoon in all the worst ways possible….sadly.
One of my favorite Christian Bale movies.
It’s definitely one of Christian Bales different performances, I wouldn’t mind seeing him do more movies like this again!
Great review man i do want to check out both these movies glad to hear that this one was a fun turn off your brain type movie 7/10 is not a bad score
Thanks man! Yeah it’s not gonna be in my top 10 of the year but it’s pretty enjoyable, both of them!
🎉
When it comes out on Blu-ray , it’s gonna sell like hot cakes 😮
As much as I would love to believe that, I don’t think that’s going to happen, it’ll become more popular on streaming
fuck no not worth the hype too many unexplained cheap no spine plot points.
I didn’t mind something’s in it but at the same time I don’t have the urge to rewatch, certainly haven’t gone to my friends and said “you have got to watch this right now!l
