Is this high quality Jasper? How is it different than the TONS of Jasper found in Central Texas around the "Llano Lift"?

Grit and polish can clog drains. I do not recommend rinsing with a sink connected to plumping. I personally use two buckets, one to hold my strainer and the other to hold the rinsing water.

The refuge has changed the rules so NO tools allowed to be used, 7 pound a day limit max and for personal use ONLY.

Dale is a NW treasure and a super nice gentleman to boot.👍👍 I believe he sold the mine last year and hopefully I'll get a chance to meet the new mine owner this next season outside McDermitt. The material at the GG/cauldera/freedom jasper mine is amazing and produces awesome cabs slabs and free-forms that are quite beautiful IMO. Really love it~ There's a nice shop in McDermitt called the Cauldera rock shop that has plenty of the material to choose from along with other assorted goodies for the rock enthusiasts!

I love this material, thanks for sharing! Would be an excellent day to work through and find some specimen for my own collection IMO. I've been fortunate enough to attain some beautiful orbed yellow and pink and some purple pink orbed chunks. Thanks again for sharing~

I pick up a slab or two from Larry every year at the Caldwell and Boise Gem and Mineral shows in February/March, and the slabs are beautiful; they make great wall displays. You can usually buy rough un-slabbed material from him at these shows. I believe EarthBRITE Rock Shop in Caldwell (not to be confused with EarthLIGHT in Boise) may have some uncut samples of this material too. And if you can ever catch Tony at his rock shop in Marsing when it's open- which unfortunately is very seldom- he has chunks of Larry's Willow Creek Jasper for sale too. I've never visited the actual mine site; I don't need to! (I'd rather just let Larry do all the grunt work, ha ha)
