That small toot I hear in this video, almost sounded like the K5LA came from something else like a former Amtrak F40PH where the horn sounded stronger.

Man... if only I would've known. For a second I thought NJT's 40th Anniversary was last year after noticing another flashback video of other fallen flag decals on the Multilevel coaches. I thought of it that way seeing as NJT had 4640 repainted into that retro scheme the E60's had.

Too bad 41, as seen in this video was involved in that derailment with P40DC 816 on the Zephyr in Colorado in late January of this year. Both engines are now retired. I've seen 41 leading the Zephyr in 2013 in Emeryville with 809 when it still had a 2000's Narrow Font K5LA, and in December 2022 and April 2023 in Martinez and Colfax as it had a Raised Letter Hybrid K5LA.

Some weekday trains terminated at the Oakland A's Coliseum during the timetables before COVID, like this one. They don't anymore although 733 still does on weekends.

I happened to see it in Port Costa the next day, although there was track work south of San Jose I believe this day which the train had to detour through the Central Valley and of course Tehachapi. Number 7 didn't sound that good at the time though. In addition to that train I even saw UP ES44AC 5278 leading the Eastbound Zephyr with a K5HLA horn.

Hehe, even I happened to see 160 like that before the Pepsi repaint on the California Zephyr at Emeryville in March that year. Sounded a slight bit raspy but it still had that proud sound in the K5LA.

Very interesting

I liked the way 6906 sounded from 2011 to 2021 with that major bell in the K5LA better than how it is today. It may have sounded a bit squeaky or wheezy but it sounded confident at full blast and high speed.

It really baffles me that even though this line is no more for commuter rail and converted to a Light Rail transit route, they're still using the ALP-45DP's with the exception of not using the pantograph.

Yeesh, 106 sounded horrendous at the time you filmed it, but some nice tooting nevertheless. 106 currently has a Raised Letter K5LA right now.

I can see you happened to get 211 in this video as well. You probably know by now that 4 of these units are in special Heritage schemes with 211 in a New York Central scheme, which I think looks better than NS 1066. Also, if you plan to go along Metro-North again soon, be on the lookout because the first SC-42DM (as I believe they designated it as) for the agency, 301 has now been built and is in Florin right now.

821 had a magical sounding K5LA as Northeast Regional 125 had cleared. As for other trains you filmed, for VRE, I think there was a plan announced for weekend service to come sometime later this year, and soon I think the new Alstom Coradia Multilevel coaches shall be delivered for the agency.
