The tooth mesh between the starter ring gear and starter gear seems good- did you need to change/modify the starter motor gear to get the gears teeth to mesh right?
Excellent work. What gear ratio is in your rear axle? And do you know what gear ratio between the starter and the driveshaft? I would like to do this on my dune buggy.
This is amazing! As long as any engine youre using is in neutral or the clutch is engaged, you could use this! But would the starter gears get worn out or spin too fast when the engine is engaged and moving forward? They would spin fast and put out a lot of power. Can that starter motor deal with that?
The starter motor gear kicks out when there's no electrical power applied. So the gear on the driveshaft is not connected to the starter when you're driving.
"That' was scary!" 🤣 Love it! I'm building a BEC out of my '67 BMW 1600-2. Any further specs on the 7-1/2" gear you used? I'm not sure how to make sure the pinion teeth and "ring gear" teeth match for meshing.
Hi! Would you be able to link me to any of the parts you used. I'm building a 66 Triumph Spitfire with a goldwing GL1200 motor in it and I have hit the reverse situation. Initially I was going to use a stripped down winch motor a motorcycle sprocket and chain set up but it just difficult to account for all the movement. Your setup seems like something I could follow and do. If you can't get me links just let me know what model you got the gear from and what company makes the starter so I can get this reverse figured out.
Hi, the gear was a find on Ebay; it came from a 1970's Skidoo. As long as you can find a similar size (about 7 1/2 inch dia) you should be fine. The starter is a SBC Chevy 3HP High Torque Mini starter 153 tooth.

Excellent job with the build! Did you have to get the driveshaft rebalanced after your modification. Also with a motorcycle engine what's the connection look like between the driveshaft and it? What kind of mph and you able to achieve
Hi, I own a Birkin 7 In Brisbane Australia with a 2.0 litre Focus motor. Love to have ZX14 powered 7 but Authorities don't like them here. How about another post with you giving it some more throttle on the corners etc. Beautiful scenery where you live. Very nice car you have. Maurice

Where did you get the Driveshaft adapter for the Engine side of the drive shaft ?

thats what im thingking to bcoz when the engine is running and the electric riverse is running to fast counter clock wise.
